You don't build your community, your community builds you. The more content and value that you can give away, the easier it will be to grow your community. Give them what you afford to give away. Be abundant with your content, consider what content you have that will stimulate people to join your community, transitions their interest, shares a vision with them, and then figure out what content you have will guarantee them profit. Once you figure that out, you can charge start charging them for your content. Make sure you guarantee them the value that you are providing. Your brain can only think of one thing at a time, so when you find yourself overthinking, you are creating interference between your mind and your ability to refocus. Refocusing is a practice, I spend time every day practicing the muscle of refocusing, which will create more productivity, accessibility, and gratitude in your life. Quantify the reasons, impacts, and capabilities of the value that you are providing. Don't be vague, tell them what the numbers are. Someone once told me that their sales were up 300%, so what does that mean, they made one dollar last year and now they made three dollars? How to Negotiate a Deal | #AskDavidMeltzer 22
Abundance is created by believing that you live in a world of more than enough. Your perception becomes your reality, which is why a belief in abundance over scarcity makes such a big difference in our ability to execute in a business. There is more than enough of everything for everyone. Always remember my three rules of negotiation: (1) Never negotiate to the last penny. (2) Always be fair. (3) Don’t do business with dicks. Blending Persistence With Patience | Road to Re...
The Blend: Counter-intuitive and Confusing Due to the way I define happiness, I often get asked whether it is possible for a persistent person to also be patient. My younger self would have said no, but now I believe that we can combine a drive to achieve with a more patient approach to reaching our goals. We need to combine these two values in our lives in order to truly thrive. Another way to think of blending is to think of it like temperance. Temperance is a virtue that moderates our behavior and provides balance in the use of things of this world. It ensures the free will's mastery over our most basic instincts and keeps desires within the limits of what is beneficial for you. Think of what it means to temper steel- to add the right amounts of heat and cold- to create a stronger metal. Too much or too little of the heat and cold makes for weak, brittle results. To be patient means to be quiet, waiting for the right moment to act. Temperance comes from actively working on something. Defining Patience and Perseverance Patience is the ability to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. Basically, the ability to find the light, the love, and lessons. Meanwhile, perseverance refers to continued steady belief or efforts in spite of discouragement or difficulty. Basically, to pursue learning those lessons, finding the light and love in what others might deem “failure”. What is the difference between patience and persistence? By itself, patience is just the ability to tolerate the passing of time. Don’t sit at home dreaming about what you want high on your mom’s couch, broke, sick, and alone. What you really want is to blend patience with persistence. Persistence is the ability to push and push and push and push. It's the ability to be stubborn in the best possible sense of the word. To Enjoy the consistent, persistent pursuit of your potential. When do I monetize what I've created? | #AskDav...
People ask me all the time when they should monetize their products and services, and I always tell them, when someone asks you for it, it is time to start monetizing it. If you are providing enough value for someone to ask you for your product or service, then you should be charging them for it. I give my books away for free and oftentimes, someone will ask me where they can buy another copy, and I offer to send them another copy, but the majority of the time they say that they want to pay for it. How to deal with rejection? | #AskDavidMeltzer 20
The three universal law of "no's" is the ultimate blend of persistence and patience. During a sale, if you receive a "universal no" that can be a missed call, simply forgetting about it, or a verbal "no". Is college worth it? | #AskDavidMeltzer 19
I get this question all the time, and my feeling about college is, if you can afford to go, why wouldn't you go? If you don't invest in yourself, what are you ever going to invest in. College is an extraordinary opportunity, and the social aspect of college is special. However, I would not suggest that someone go to college if it is going to put you in deep debt.
