On today's Satellite Sisters, Julie, Liz, Sheila and Monica start with announcements of this week's #satsistersYTB contest winners and the highlights of the 'You're The Best" kick-off speech in Pasadena this week for Pasadena Magazine.  It was a fun shakedown cruise for the book toyr that launches next Friday night October 30 at Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn, New York.  For the complete calendar of "You're The Best", go to the Events page at www.satellitesisters.com. In the news, SNL did a great send-up of the Democratic Debate last night with the role of Bernie Sanders played by Larry David.  Perfect comedy casting! We'll never "Feel the Bern" the same way again.  Monica spent last weekend at the Bend Film Festival.  She has recommendation for some films you are going to want to watch out for including a documentary called Breaking A Monster, about a kids heavy metal band from Brooklyn.  It all happens in Brooklyn, doesn't it? Liz also needs some film recommendations and has the sisters vote on The Martian vs. Steve Jobs. Julie brings us a fascinating story about the Zappos management philosophy and their self-management approach.  Some sisters are all for it.  Some are skeptical.  What do you think? Meanwhile, she has launched a new tutoring business so she can engage in a little more of her own self-management.  For more information about her new business, you can check here.  She's also got a semi-successful flu shot situation to share. Need a little sensory deprivation?  Julie has a recommendation about some new float spas in Texas.  We urge her to test itself out this week and report back on her findings.  We close with Liz's favorite headline of the week. There are kangaroos involved. Urban kangaroos.  Check it out.    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Our ongoing series of You're the Best Interviews continue with an Elizabeth Gilbert classic. We spoke to liz Gilbert on the day Eat, Pray, Love was published. Before Oprah, before the Ted Talk, before guru status, Liz Gilbert was just a brokenhearted woman who went to Italy and gained 20 pounds eating pasta. Awesome.    In this conversation, you'll hear Liz, Lian and Monica talk to Elizabeth Gilbert, the way you share your vacation stories with your Satellite Sisters. Fun to hear again. Heroes, Romance and our apology to Greta Gerwig.
On today's Satellite Sisters, Julie, Liz, Sheila and Lian discuss where heroes come from.  On a story in the New York Times, evolutionary dynamicists (whatever that means) tell us how evolution has favored heroes.  Thank goodness.  Sheila is trying to give up sugar.  She has a list of food she has had to deny herself.  It's not easy.  She also has a few new restaurant names around Pasadena and Altadena that are bugging her.  What do you think? Liz questions a couple of new anti-aging practices: one is this face fitness program in New York and the other is an anti-aging potion she saw advertised that allegedly "battles graying".  Julie has some commentary on two new movies:  She has a cultural issue with No Escape starting Owen Wilson and Lake Bell, and recommends Mistress America starring Greta Gerwig.  Speaking of Greta, we hereby issue an apology to Greta for the misinformation we spread about her midway through the show which we correct by the end.  Oops.  Here's her bio from IMDB. Love ya, Greta! Lian wants to draw our attention to this wedding announcement in the New York Times for one tiny detail: the romantic theatrical gesture of the pearl and the kiss.  She thinks maybe Sheila and Liz could find romantic partners on the stage!
