Season Preview 2019-2020

All The Above
Was Paul Fenton fired as Minnesota Wild General Manager because of his horrible media relations? His awful treatment of others in the organization? Ignoring everyone else's warnings before making a trade that didn't make sense? Rarely even being in the office? Not knowing certain CBA rules that an NHL GM should have known years before getting the job? The title of this episode is your answer. We also look at future GM candidates, and your host has a pretty good idea who he wants and doesn't want. facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwplayers @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Draft And Free Agency 2019
The Minnesota Wild's only route to the Stanley Cup appears to be through the draft, so luckily Paul Fenton has every intention of keeping as many choices as possible, including eight this year. Matthew Boldy, who many expected to go in the top ten, fortunately was there for the taking, giving the Wild hopefully a top line forward for many years to come. Minnesota also added yet another aging veteran, in the still very good 31 year old Mats Zuccarello, and solid 24 year old right wing Ryan Hartman. facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

State Of The Wild 2019
The annual Megasode is here! We put a bow on the 2018-2019 season, as we talk about the ups and downs of the past year, and pass out the awards and demerits for last season. We then discuss the amazing postseason, along with one of the greatest stories in NHL history. We of course take a look toward the future, with the NHL draft and what will become of the 2019 Free Agency! facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Crucial Off-Season
The Minnesota Wild have much to do this off-season, as GM Paul Fenton will continue his plan to get younger, faster, and better able to put the puck in the net. Fenton started his front office shake up, as we say goodbye to the beloved Andrew Brunette. Is Mike Modano ready to join the front office? The Wild will end up picking 12th in the NHL draft, as we watched in horror when Chicago jumped from 12th to third overall... facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

No Playoffs
For the first time in seven years, the Minnesota Wild will miss the playoffs, being mathematically eliminated by the Colorado Avalanche in the standings. Despite playing very well this past week, the unacceptable losses that mounted earlier in the season and even recently, was their undoing. Luckily, with a new wave of young players coming in, the future doesn't look bad at all. facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Not Much Left
It's becoming more and more apparent that the Minnesota Wild six year playoffs streak is likely coming to an end. Despite throwing everything at the Nashville Predators, Saros denied all 29 shots, and the post denied many more. The Wild just aren't healthy or consistent enough to feasibly put together a run to overcome Colorado and Arizona. facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

The Door Is Closing
The door is closing quickly on the Minnesota Wild's playoff hopes, as the club only mustered three out of ten possible points during the recent five game home stand. On the positive side, the Wild were able to sign two pretty important prospects this past week, and Brennan Menell continues to shine in Iowa! facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Harsh Reality Check
After the best win of the year, a 3-0 complete team victory in Tampa Bay, the Minnesota Wild took it to the chin with a combined 9-2 score in Florida and hosting the Sharks. Playoff atmosphere will be in Xcel Energy Center this week, when the Wild host Dallas and Colorado, as these teams will continue to fight for the Wild Card spots. facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Now I Hate Nashville
Many a Minnesota Wild fan built up some hatred for the Calgary Flames this year, with the back and forth chippy play, that ultimately ended with Matt Dumba missing several months. Another incident fueled even more dislike for our red/orange friends from Alberta when Garnet Hathaway nearly decapitated Luke Kunin. After two great games vs Nashville, both of which ended with extremely frustrating shootout losses where Ryan Johansen bent the rules without breaking them, to score winning goals, it's easy now easy to hate the Predators

Shoot First Mentality
Paul Fenton's long-term vision is beginning to take shape, as he continued to trade away players that constantly frustrated fans, coaches and GMs alike for not simply shooting the puck at given opportunities. This time, the biggest name yet was traded, as Mikael Granlund was moved to Nashville for Kevin Fiala, who has been mentioned almost all season in trade talks involving Minnesota. The moves thus far have shown a more aggressive team and in early returns it's paid dividends! facebook.com/bravethewild.minnesota facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

End Of An Age
It's the End of an Age for the Minnesota Wild, as Charlie Coyle joins the list of core players being traded. Coyle has been moved to Boston for young up and comer Ryan Donato and a 5th or 4th round pick, as long as the Bruins advance in the playoffs. The current Wild team has continued to flounder game in game out, making Paul Fenton's decision to move on easier and easier.

X'ed At The X
The Minnesota Wild continue to struggle at home, and this week the Wild added two more disappointing home losses to Edmonton and Philadelphia. The defensive pairings since adding Anthony Bitetto has lacked rhyme and reason, moving Brodin to the right side and rendering recently acquired Brad Hunt virtually useless. One the positive side, Luke Kunin and Joel Eriksson Ek have showed they are becoming legit NHLers that belong here many years! facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Ouch!
The Minnesota Wild managed to squeeze two out of six points since returning from the break, going winless in three games. To make matters worse, Mikko Koivu after an on ice collision was found to have a torn ACL and Meniscus, ending his season abruptly. facebook.com/bravethewild facebook.com/mnwprospects @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

The Wheels Are Turning
Paul Fenton keeps making trades, this past week Nino Niederreiter was dealt to Carolina for center Victor Rask. Fenton also exchanged draft picks with Las Vegas, and acquired scoring defenseman Brad Hunt. With all said, the Wild had a very positive week, beating Columbus and also winning in Vegas and Colorado!facebook.com/bravethewildfacebook.com/mnwprospects@bravethewildpaladinolive@yahoo.comCall into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Aggravation And A Trade
After and impressive win at home vs the Winnipeg Jets, the Wild completely fell apart against Detroit and Philadelphia, despite taking early leads in both games! Luckily, Minnesota would escape total disaster, in a shootout victory vs Los Angeles before making their first NHL trade in the Fenton Era. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

3-1 Road trip!
The Minnesota Wild had a pretty solid road trip this past week, winning two matinee games in a row, which historically has been an impossible feat. Unfortunately the winning streak came to a screeching halt in Boston, losing 4-0 with literally everything bouncing the Bruins' way. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

The Drought Continues
The Minnesota Wild have completely stopped scoring the past four games, amassing only three goals in the past twelve periods. To be fair, yes the Wild have ran into some hot goalies, but sooner or later someone has to break through or this team is going no where fast. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Trade Time Coming
It's looking more and more evident that the Minnesota Wild are in a rut they can't get out of without significant changes. This would include the possibility of getting worse before we get better, in order to get some legitimate prospects via the draft the next few years. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Bad Goalies Everywhere
Before anyone complains, I'm NOT trashing Dubnyk and Staylock, even though both struggled against Edmonton. Bad/struggling goalies were on the other side in all three games, and Minnesota was able to capitalize only vs Montreal, as fun as that was. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Bad Bounces
Despite the Staal, Granlund, Zucker line playing extremely well, Minnesota was 1-2 this past week. Columbus was just that much better, and some horrible bounces off of Nick Seeler doomed the Wild versus Toronto in a well played game. The stellar play of that top line was rewarded nicely in Vancouver, as they were a part of all three goals in the Wild's lone victory the past week. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877

Give And Take
It's not been the best five games for the Minnesota Wild. Matt Dumba's scoring has been outstanding, but on the other side he's had some huge lapses which cost the Wild deeply, particularly in Chicago. Mikko Koivu has stepped up bigtime the past few weeks, and it shows. facebook.com/bravethewild @bravethewild paladinolive@yahoo.com Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877
