<p>We're so stoked to have Nick Millevoi of Grassy Sound as our guest on No Simple Road this week!</p><br><p>For guitarist <strong>Nick Millevoi</strong>, all manner of music can be a source of inspiration, including bachelor-pad “exotica” albums of the 1950s, surf-rock records of the ’60s or even old Hollywood cowboy tunes – at least if those influences are put into a modernist compositional and improvisational blender. Millevoi’s usual outfit, the Crazy Horse-meets-Coltrane band Desertion Trio, has released four ultra-potent albums since 2016. But he was inspired by his nostalgic sonic fascinations to compose a fun set of tunes to perform with frequent keyboard partner <strong>Ron Stabinsky</strong>, dubbing their duo project <strong>Grassy Sound</strong>. The pair’s debut album of those songs – <strong><em>The Sounds of Grassy Sound</em></strong> – will be released, digitally and on vinyl, via <strong>Destiny Records</strong> on <strong>April 22, 2022</strong>. <p>For 20 years Northwest String Summit has been a mainstay in the festival scene of the Pacific Northwest. Yonder Mountain String Band started the festival all those years ago and saw fit to move it here to Horning's Hideout. In the years that followed many now famous (and infamous) bluegrass acts cut their teeth at this festival and year after year fans came back for more creating a tight knit community.</p><br><p>This week on No Simple Road we continue our journey at Northwest String Summit 2022 with part 2 of this 2 part series. This being the last year of the festival we wanted to focus less on the bands and more on the community, the stories, the people that have worked hard to create the scene so many of us enjoy.
