<p>We are super excited this week to. have Erik Yates of Hot Buttered Rum as our guest on No Simple Road. Erik spent his Bay Area youth trying nearly every instrument and style he came across. Piano lessons, saxophone quartets, garage bands and folk songs had all weaseled their way into his life by the time he hit high school. <p>We're so stoked to have Nick Millevoi of Grassy Sound as our guest on No Simple Road this week!</p><br><p>For guitarist <strong>Nick Millevoi</strong>, all manner of music can be a source of inspiration, including bachelor-pad “exotica” albums of the 1950s, surf-rock records of the ’60s or even old Hollywood cowboy tunes – at least if those influences are put into a modernist compositional and improvisational blender. Millevoi’s usual outfit, the Crazy Horse-meets-Coltrane band Desertion Trio, has released four ultra-potent albums since 2016. But he was inspired by his nostalgic sonic fascinations to compose a fun set of tunes to perform with frequent keyboard partner <strong>Ron Stabinsky</strong>, dubbing their duo project <strong>Grassy Sound</strong>. The pair’s debut album of those songs – <strong><em>The Sounds of Grassy Sound</em></strong> – will be released, digitally and on vinyl, via <strong>Destiny Records</strong> on <strong>April 22, 2022</strong>. <p>We are so excited to have Bluphoria's guitarist Reign LaFreniere as our guest on No Simple Road This week! Bluphoria is a pop-rock/alternative band, with psychedelic and southern rock influences originally based out of Eugene, Oregon but now hailing from Nashville, Tennessee!</p><br><p>LaFreniere, 22, along with Dakota Landrum [19, rhythm guitar, background vocals], Dani Janae [20, drums, background vocals], and Rex Wolf [21, bass, background vocals], are that rare collective who have figured out early on in their career how to combine rock, blues, alternative, pop, and psychedelia into a kaleidoscopic signature style of their own design. <p>This week is something special! We're going back to the beginning...no famous musician, no artist, author, or comedian. This is back to basics No Simple Road with our brother Nathaniel leading the way. Out of all the episodes that we have done in the past I am sure the three of us would agree that this is the most important one to date. </p><br><p>On a back porch in Denver over Labor Day weekend Aaron and Mel learned what No Simple Road really is and what it does thanks to Nathaniel. He breaks it down in a Ted Talk style rap that left us in tears and completely and utterly humbled and amazed.
