2/13/19: Twins Hot Stove
The Twins' pitchers and catchers reported today to kick off the start of Spring Training, and what a different Spring Training it will be. Twins bench coach Derek Shelton runs camp and he joins us to discuss several key changes to its overall structure. Shelty also mentions a new Twins coach that he has always held in high regard. Twins Hall of Famer Jim Kaat is set to rejoin Twins' broadcasts this season and it begins with the Hot Stove Show tonight! Kaat talks about this return to the Twins' airwaves, the current Twins team headed into camp and a memorable Twins team from 50 years ago.

Top prospect Royce Lewis was invited to his first big league camp and tonight he accepted the invitation to join us on the Twins Hot Stove Show. A guy who Lewis impressed often last year was Twins Director of Minor League Operations Jeremy Zoll. Zoll stops by to offer pomp and circumstance on recent graduates at the Twins Dominican Academy. Additionally, he updates listeners on the newly formatted Instructional League and how it is already paying dividends.

New Twins manager Rocco Baldelli returns to the Twins Hot Stove Show to get us caught up on his recent hometown visits of Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano. Baldelli provides his perspective on the addition of Nelson Cruz as an opponent of his as well as what has been the biggest surprise in his first two months on the job. We hand the ball to reliever Taylor Rogers in the second segment to discuss the new skipper, the evolution of his slider in 2018 and how happy the Twins' pitching staff is to see Nelson Cruz in its dugout. Rogers closes out the show by taking three cuts, which includes his take on “spin rate” in a sport other than baseball.
