Michael Clarke - The Horse And The Pup

Michael Clarke is our topic this week. Clarke has always been so fascinating to me, and he was the first cricketer I ever wrote a feature on. So, I got Subash Jayaraman to come back into his temporary host seat to grill me about my Clarke work. Here we talk about Australia, class, chasing legendary status, LeBron and KD, Quentin Tarantino, Rick McCosker, and pretty much everything else.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may like the YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt.

You can find Subash Jayaraman on twitter at https://twitter.com/cricketcouch and the archive to his 200 podcast episodes are here [Couch Talk] ( https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/couch-talk/id1474979526)

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

The First World Cup with Raf Nicholson

In 1971, legendary cricketer Rachael Heyhoe-Flint and millionaire Jack Hayward sat up into the night coming up with the idea for a global women’s cricket tournament. It was then that cricket had its first World Cup. So I got on an expert to discuss it. Raf and I chat about where women’s cricket was in ’71, the weird scheduling, political interference, a final (kind of), Enid Bakewell and of course a fair bit on Rachael Heyhoe-Flint.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may like the YouTube page. https://www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt.

You can find Raf Nicholson on twitter at https://twitter.com/RAfNicholson and you can find her site here [CRICKETher | Women’s Cricket News & Views] (https://crickether.com)

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

Benny Howell is Cricket’s Different Bowler

This week we have a T20 cricketer who in the last five years has the 4th best average and 4th best economy rate. Benny comes on to talk about his weird career so far, how he’s been overlooked despite his record, how baseball changed everything and what part his ADHD has played in him becoming the player he is. England In The 90's with Emma John

England sucked considerably in the 90’s, so much so that their sucking seemed to effect all English cricket fans from that era. They are a broken and deformed bunch, perhaps none more so than our guest on this episode, Emma John. This episode we talk about Emma’s teen years spent clipping things from newspapers, her journey in meeting so many of those 90’s players, and how many of those cricketers are like characters in the background of an Adam Sandler film.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast you may like the YouTube page. https://www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt.

You can find Emma John on twitter at https://twitter.com/em_john and you can find her book here [Following On: Emma John](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Following-Teenage-Obsession-Terrible-Cricket/dp/1472916875)

This podcast is produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.comand https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

Harsha Bhogle on Point

Harsha Bhogle is one of the cricket world’s most well-known faces. As a commentator he has spent years being the lone non-cricketer in a sea of monosyllabic former greats. But the thing about Harsha being a non-cricketer is that he’s not, he did play the game, and so o this episode we talk about his early life following and playing the game. Then later on he gets bored of talking about himself and stars to question me on the future of cricket and analytics.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may like the YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt.

You can find Harsha Bhogle on twitter at https://twitter.com/bhogleharsha and he’s most frequently found on CricBuzz these days [Harsha Bhogle-Voice Of Cricket http://Cricbuzz.com](https://cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/experts/harsha-bhogle/170)

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

We discuss quotas (and targets within targets), racial bias in selection and coaching, science and how batsmen need more equipment to develop. As Dan says, you can't learn to cover drive before you have a bat.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast visit the YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt.

You can find Dan Gallan on twitter at https://twitter.com/danielgallan and his piece on this subject is here https://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1157728/where-are-south-africa-s-black-african-batsmen and his podcast is called Short fine legs https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/short-fine-legs/id1254403857

This podcast is produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

Shan Masood On Building Shan 2.0

Shan Masood was written off by some - myself included - as someone not quite good enough, who perhaps got his chance because of his family connections as anything else. He disappeared back into Pakistan domestic cricket after 12 Tests, and if you never saw him again he'd barely be thought of. But instead Masood spent years rebuilding his career with the help of experts - and me - to rebuilding his game. And from the limited results we've seen so far, it was time well spent. Come listen to how he turned it around.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast visit the YouTube page www.youtube.com/jarrodkimberyt. Introduction

It's a show about the issues in cricket, every week there will be a different guest talking about a big topic in cricket. It's the stories that I am interested in, such as 'Has Jofra Archer been treated differently?' 'How do you play in a world cup qualifier when you lose a third of your squad during the tournament?' 'What pace do women bowl?' Every time I see a great cricket story out there, I'll try and get an expert on the topic to come to chat about it.

Read by Jarrod Kimber

Production by Nick McCorriston (https://www.nickamc.com)

Music: Red Crickets - The Prisoner

Music appears via a Creative Commons licence, and has been edited to fit purpose.

Licence

Red Crickets on FMA
