Cricket Scouting with Ronan Alexander

This episode we look at something slightly new to cricket, scouting. And in order to do that, I only went and found someone who started their own cricket scouting magazine, Ronan Alexander. On this episode, we look at a few different talented players, but really what we’re doing is breaking down how we need to look at cricket going forward. Where players fit in, what their skill sets are, not specifically batter bowl or rounder, but where they can be used in different kinds of games. You may find a new favourite player too.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may enjoy other things I create, check them all out at https://linktr.ee/jarrodkimber.

You can find Ronan Alexander on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ronan_45.

Here’s a link to his magazine Scouting Cricket: https://scoutingcricket.com.

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets: https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

The Sri Lankan Omnishambles with Estelle Vasudevan

This week we look at what the hell is going on with Sri Lankan cricket. Cause, it’s not going well over there. So I got on Estelle Vasudevan to try explain it all to me. We spoke about suspensions, coaches, captains, T20 Leagues, contracts, the invisible women’s team, and why the major changes to how SLC is run still haven’t happened.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may enjoy other things I create, check them all out at https://linktr.ee/jarrodkimber.

You can find Estelle Vasudevan on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Estelle_Vasude1.

You can also find her at The Papare: https://thepapare.com.

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.

The Rise of Women's Domestic Cricket with Izzy ...

Watching the first match of the Hundred, it occurred to me that the standard of women’s cricket had improved so much that it barely registered this was a domestic game. So I went and got myself a veteran domestic women's player to talk about it. Izzy Westbury played for Somerset, Middlesex and the Dutch teams before becoming a cricket writer. On this chat we talk about the little changes in the women's game, what drawbacks professionalism has, gender pay gap, growing new markets, how the athleticism has changed, and why women's cricket has improved so much that Izzy wouldn't get a game anymore.

-

To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.

If you like this podcast, you may enjoy other things I create, check them all out at https://linktr.ee/jarrodkimber.

You can find Izzy Westbury on Twitter: https://twitter.com/izzywestbury.

Her piece on the Hundred and the pay gap is here: [Hundred gender pay row rocks ECB two days before launch] (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2021/07/19/exclusive-ecb-gender-pay-row-two-days-launch-hundred/)

This podcast is edited, mixed and produced by Nick McCorriston, he's at https://www.nickamc.com and https://www.twitter.com/nickamc.

The theme tune is by Red Crickets https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Red_Crickets/Red_Crickets.
