Don't Forget to Hate the Rich During This Pande... The COVID-19 Crisis Is the Result of Decades of FDA Misrule The COVID-19 pandemic is exposing how the US Food and Drug Administration puts Americans at increased risk of sickness and death. Decades of killing medical innovation and forcing industries offshore made this inevitable. Rightfully, many are questioning how things got this bad. As political stock rises in calls for change in Washington, Americans must watch out for any false debate that merely aims at rearranging deck chairs. IRS sends coronavirus stimulus checks to dead people An unlikely group counts itself among the recipients of the coronavirus stimulus checks: the dead. The IRS began distributing $290 billion in direct cash payments within the past week as part of the $2 trillion CARES Act stimulus bill. As part of the plan, IRS is sending checks of up to $1,200 per individual and $2,400 per married couple over the past several days to weather the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.IRS sends coronavirus stimulus checks to dead people How Some Rich Americans Are Getting Stimulus ‘Checks’ Averaging $1.7 Million A $1.7 million stimulus check? While wealthy Americans are not eligible for the comparatively measly $1,200 stimulus checks that are now being disbursed to many Americans, they are on pace to do even better. 43,000 taxpayers, who earn more than $1 million annually, are each set to receive a $1.7 million windfall, on average, thanks to a provision buried in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. --- Support this podcast:

What Government is Doing While Everyone Panics-...
The Government Wants To Dramatically Weaken Your Encryption. Here Is Why It Should Not. Late last week, reports emerged that, once again, senior United States government officials are contemplating seeking legislation that would ban ordinary citizens from using encryption that the government cannot easily crack, reviving the battle between the government – which believes that encryption hampers its efforts to monitor the communications of terrorists and criminals – and technology firms that wish to offer the best security to their users. The new proposal would impact every user of Whatsapp and other tools that offer end-to-end encryption – that is, that allow users to carry on conversations that are encrypted in such a fashion that the chat-service provider itself cannot decrypt them. 1. There is no evidence that allowing law-abiding private citizens to use encryption actually helps terrorists achieve their aims. (If there is such evidence, let the government present it to the public.) At least as far as the public has been told, we have not experienced terrorist attacks that would have been preventable had the government been able to more easily break the encryption of standard messaging tools. In fact, it seems that many communications between terrorists are carried out without any encryption. As was seen clearly after the Paris attacks in 2015, governmental failure to monitor terrorist communications is arising primarily from other deficiencies – such as not quickly enough identifying the right people to monitor – rather than from the inability of law enforcement and intelligence agencies to decrypt encrypted communications. 2. There are more effective actions to take against terrorists that should come first. Before we ask Americans to surrender privacy in order to gain security, the government should demonstrate that in has acted with competence in all other areas of the war against terror and exhausted other means. As I noted in 2015, when we hear our Commander-in-Chief telling us how ISIS is “contained” days before the organization kills over a hundred people in the heart of Paris, when we barely hear anything from the government when an American student is murdered by a terrorist in the West Bank, when we hear that the Turkish government tried to warn France twice about one of the suspects involved in the Paris killings but that the French did not respond until after the attacks, etc. we have to wonder if there are other much more significant actions that the government could (and should) be taking to combat terrorists before it deems it necessary to strip us of our rights. --- Support this podcast:

Coronavirus: Tennessee brothers hoard nearly 18,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, say they have nowhere to sell it

Two brothers from Tennessee who said they tried to capitalize on the coronavirus outbreak by buying nearly 18,000 bottles of hand sanitizer now claim they have nowhere to sell the products after a crackdown on online price gouging.

After the first COVID19-related death in the U.S. was announced, 36-year-old Noah Colvin and his brother, Matt, cleared out hand sanitizer from stores around Chattanooga, Tenn., and parts of Kentucky, The New York Times first reported. Their intention was to sell the goods on Amazon at marked-up prices.

They sold the sanitizer for between $8 and $70 each, multiple times higher than what they paid for the product at local stores, the paper reported.

The brothers declined to disclose their exact profits, saying only that it was "substantial."

Despite backlash and accusations of profiteering, Noah Colvin defended his methods to The Times, saying there was "crushing overwhelming demand" in areas not carrying the products.

"I honestly feel like it's a public service," he said. "I'm being paid for my public service."

But, Amazon, along with other online platforms including eBay and Walmart, shut down sellers such as the Colvin brothers who were found to be price gouging.

"Price gouging is a clear violation of our policies, unethical, and in some areas, illegal," Amazon announced in a statement. "In addition to terminating these third-party accounts, we welcome the opportunity to work directly with states attorneys general to prosecute bad actors."

Now, some 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer have been sitting in Noah Colvin’s garage, with no place to sell them, the paper reported.

After the brothers made headlines, news outlets reported that investigators with the Tennessee attorney general’s office ordered the Colvins to end any profiteering strategies. The state, which has had laws against price gouging, was investigating the case.
--- Support this podcast:

Complete Coronavirus Update - Is This Trump's F...

Coronavirus cases over 111,000: Live updates on COVID-19

A newly identified coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is spreading across the globe. Here's what you need to know about the virus and the disease it causes, called COVID-19.

Update on Monday, March 9 (ET):

—There are about 564 confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S., with 136 of those in Washington state and 124 in California.

—There are now 22 coronavirus deaths in the U.S. (19 in Washington and 2 in Florida).

—There are 3,892 deaths linked to the virus worldwide. Deaths worldwide exceed those from SARS. And 62,375 individuals have recovered from COVID-19.

—There are 111,354 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, with more cases popping up outside China than inside.

—Additional cases have been confirmed in New York, bringing the state's total to 106.

How does the new coronavirus compare with the flu?

The new coronavirus outbreak has made headlines in recent weeks, but there's another viral epidemic hitting countries around the world: flu season. But how do these viruses compare, and which one is really more worrisome?

So far, the new coronavirus has led to more than 100,000 illnesses and more than 3,000 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 34 million illnesses, 350,000 hospitalizations and 20,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

That said, scientists have studied seasonal flu for decades. So, despite the danger of it, we know a lot about flu viruses and what to expect each season. In contrast, very little is known about the new coronavirus and the disease it causes, dubbed COVID-19, because it's so new. This means COVID-19 is something of a wild card in terms of how far it will spread and how many deaths it will cause.

"Despite the morbidity and mortality with influenza, there's a certainty … of seasonal flu," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a White House press conference on Jan. 31. "I can tell you all, guaranteed, that as we get into March and April, the flu cases are going to go down. You could predict pretty accurately what the range of the mortality is and the hospitalizations [will be]," Fauci said. "The issue now with [COVID-19] is that there's a lot of unknowns."
--- Support this podcast:

Investing, by it's very nature is a risky business. Even if we just take the tax on stock trades, excluding the proposals for taxes on derivatives, we've got a .5% tax on every stock purchase. That doesn't sound like much, does it? Bernie Sanders says that with just a little tax like this we could raise $2.4 trillion dollars over 10 years and pay for free college for everyone.

As usual, he's flat wrong.

I don't think we've hidden the fact that I'm not a fan of Bernie Sanders. Who Gets To Spend Your Money? | EP 192
From the Atlantic: It’s Jeff Bezos’s Planet Now On Monday, Jeff Bezos announced the creation of the Bezos Earth Fund, which will disperse $10 billion in the name of combatting climate change. The fund is a triumph of philanthropy—and a perfect emblem of a national failing. Or rather, a series of national failings. In a healthy democracy, the world’s richest man wouldn’t be able to painlessly make a $10 billion donation. His fortune would be mitigated by the tax collector; antitrust laws would constrain the growth of his business. Instead of relying on a tycoon to bankroll the national response to an existential crisis, there would be a national response. But in an age of political dysfunction, Bezos has begun to subsume the powers of the state. Where the government once funded the ambitious exploration of space, Bezos is leading that project, spending a billion dollars each year to build rockets and rovers. His company, Amazon, is spearheading an experimental effort to fix American health care; it will also spend $700 million to retrain workers in the shadow of automation and displacement. Meanwhile, swaths of the federal government have contracted with Amazon to keep data on the company’s servers. Bezos is providing the vital infrastructure of state. When Amazon locates its second headquarters on the Potomac, staring across the river at the capital, it will provide a perfect geographic encapsulation of the new balance of power. AUDIO ARTICLE || Bernie lies, again. Will Twitt...

Bernie lies, again. Will Twitter or Facebook consider banning him? No.

Bernie Sanders is at it again, again. And again, also.

First off, we don't think Bernie should be banned. It's a private company, and frankly it's better for dishonest politicians like him to continue showing their blatant disregard for the actual facts.

On twitter today, Bernie stated that Jeff Bezos' income is "$215 million per day." Okay, Jeff Bezos is in fact worth a lot of money, but does he actually make that much in income? A quick trip to your calculator would tell you that $215 million per day would equal $78 BILLION per year. Maybe that seems possible for the worlds richest person, but it isn't. It just plain isn't. Amazon's gross income in 2018 was $71 billion. So do you honestly think that after "cost of goods sold," they decided to pay Jeff Bezos $78 billion from their $71 billion gross?

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

Bernie Lie #6,327 | "We'd solve homelessness by taking all of Bill Gates' wealth." Fact Check: FALSE

Senator Sanders decided to take aim at Bill Gates yesterday. Why Bill Gates of all people? Gates is well known for being a great philanthropist. He and his wife have paid more in taxes than anyone in history, and they've also given more to charitable causes than anyone in world history. $10 billion in taxes, and over $45 billion to charity.

Sanders has one problem: He wants to distribute the money through the US Government, not through charitable organizations.

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

Medicare will be insolvent in 7 years, Social Security in 16. Dems still plan on expanding benefits

Medicare faces insolvency by 2026, and Social Security by 2035- and no one seems to care. How long can we act like this isn't a problem?

After watching the Democratic Debates on Wednesday night, one thing is certain: No one cares about the National Debt, and no one cares about the budget deficit. In fact, even though our major programs are nearly out of money, everyone seems dead-set on expanding them. To be fair, Republican's don't seem to care either. We're running Obama-era deficits while working in a "healthy" economy, and even plans like Rand Paul's 2% cut to the budget were dead-on-arrival.

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

A Brief History of Iran/U.S. Relations || EP 164

Yesterday, the US military killed top Iranian military leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani in a targeted assassination via drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq. This attack was no doubt in reaction to an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq that took place over the holiday. That attack, was in retaliation for an attack U.S. forces carried out on five Kataeb Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria on Sunday. Those airstrikes were in retaliation for an attack on Dec. 27, in which an American contractor was killed and several U.S. military service members were wounded in a 30-plus rocket barrage on a military base near Kirkuk, in northern Iraq.
If you want a "Worker-Owned" business, you're free to start one

There are no laws stating that a group of workers cannot group together and form a cooperative business. Why aren't these popping up everywhere? Because it's a bad idea.

Sanders and Warren have both introduced plans to turn over ownership of America's largest corporations to the workers. Sanders' plan would require all public companies to offer 20% ownership of their company to their workers. In addition to the issuance of new stock, the workers would also have "Right of first refusal" if the company wants to offer itself up for sale. Who will finance the purchase of the company if the workers don't have the capital to purchase the company? The government, of course.

READ THE REST AT
--- Support this podcast:

No Bernie, Women Don't Have a 'Constitutional Right' to a Taxpayer-Funded Abortion

Yesterday, Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders made yet another wild and unfounded statement on twitter:

"Abortion is a constitutional right- Not a privilege for those that can afford it."

Let's be clear about the argument laid out in this tweet. Bernie isn't even having a conversation about whether or not abortion should be legal. He's moving past that, and now stating that not only should they be legal, but you have a "constitutional right" to an abortion paid for by other people. The problem he's pinpointing is not abortion's legality, but the terrible tragedy of only rich people being able to afford abortions.

Sanders loosely derives this conclusion from the famous Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade. But remember, Roe v. Wade did not lay out that the government should use taxpayer money to subsidize abortions. It simply said that the 4th Amendment protected a woman's privacy in this matter.

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

Elon Musk is proof that Warren's "Wealth Tax" is a terrible idea

Democratic candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have championed an idea so bad it was ditched by nine countries in Europe, including Denmark, and Sweden. Despite claiming to push "Scandinavian style Socialism," both candidates seem to be in favor of policies even those countries thought were terrible ideas.

Musk is a perfect example of the flawed ideology behind a wealth tax. Even though Musk is a "billionaire" worth $26.6 billion, Musk only has about $200 million in liquid assets.

How is it that there is such a large discrepancy between net worth, and liquid assets? Easy. Most of Musk's net worth is in his ownership of SpaceX, and Tesla Motors. By most, I mean 99.2% of his net worth, or roughly $26.4 billion.

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

AUDIO ARTICLE || Why I’ll Continue to Choose In...

Why I’ll continue to choose Individual Liberty over Fairytales of a Socialist Utopia

Why Free-Market Capitalism? Doesn’t it promote greed, fraud, abuse, and any other terrible thing you can think of?

Humans are greedy. Humans are dishonest. Humans want the most they can get from the least amount of effort. Yes, Capitalism has shown us how these qualities can become exaggerated, and might even lead to “exploitation,” but there’s just one problem.. The same human beings exist under Socialism, as well. This does not mean that we should give up on becoming better people, but it does mean that we should not ignore the reality of humanity in front of us.

When contemplating an economic and social system, you have to ask the following question: Which system, when it’s corrupted by evil men, has the best chance of creating a better life for the most amount of people possible? That answer, has been proven time and time again throughout history.

Yes, Free-Market Capitalism rewards greed, but under true Free-Market Capitalism, those who seek to take advantage of others are forced to provide the people with things they want. They are forced to provide the best service while knowing that others have the opportunity to rise, and compete against them. Don't agree? Try starting a business that specializes in providing things that people don't want..

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

Cadets at West Point, and the Naval Academy were seen at the Army/Navy football game giving the "Okay symbol" on camera while a broadcaster for ESPN hyped up the game. An investigation has now been launched into the cadets involved, and whether or not these cadets were indeed flashing a "white-power" symbol on camera for the world to see.

When exactly did this become a symbol for White-supremacy? The controversy itself can be linked back to the notorious discussion board site "4chan."

The Anti-Defamation League traced this movement to its original source, and released an article detailing the chain of events back in May of 2017:

READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US
--- Support this podcast:

Obamacare is Further Proof That "Medicare for All" Wouldn’t Work

Over the past week, we’ve seen the quiet, but deadly dismantling of the remaining parts of the massive program. Within the $1.4 trillion spending bill passed by Congress and signed by President Trump, we saw a much needed removal of the tax on so-called “Cadillac” insurance plans.

That's right, employers and insurance companies were actually being punished for offering insurance plans that were too good. Why? Among other reasons, the simplest would be that if the taxpayers are subsidizing insurance, we don’t want the insurance to be too expensive to start out with. Then, the government could be accused of not wanting to subsidize plans that only the rich could afford. The answer? Do your best to make those plans illegal, or at least remove them from the equation.

Read the rest at
--- Support this podcast:

Let's talk about Trump's tax returns! What's in them? No one knows. Of course, this fortunately leaves room for wild speculation. Is he actually only worth $1 billion? Did he pay money to Jeffery Epstein? Did he evade taxes? We don't really care, unless it was that Epstein conspiracy.

Retailers nationwide are competing with Amazon by offering free 1-day shipping. Oh, the perils of Capitalism. Seems as though you can now benefit from Amazon, even if you don't have a membership.

Speaking of Amazon, let's talk about conditions in their warehouses. We spoke about an unfortunate story involving a former Amazon employee. She now has bulging discs, and suffers from constant pain due to the constant stream of work required by Amazon. Her Job description? Pick up boxes and put them on a shelf. Of course, some of those boxes were heavy. Quick question: Can you blame the business if someone takes a job that knowingly requires the lifting of heavy boxes, and they end up with a bad back? For that matter, could you demonize construction managers because their drywall hangers suffer from back pain later in life? How about someone that runs a coal mine? Of course not. It's in the very nature of the job that if you take the job, you would be required to do manual labor, and are at risk for developing back problems.

Listen to the episode, and share it with your friends!

Support the podcast. $5 a month from each of you can offset our marketing budget, allowing us to bring more liberty to the masses.

Thanks,

Nate & Charlie
--- Support this podcast:
