Nate & Chuck have been friends for nearly 20 years. After traveling the world separately as musicians, they've now joined forces to bring you daily news explained through the libertarian philosophies taught by Rand, Friedman, Sowell, Mises, & Hayek.

Well, it has been awhile and to say we have missed you would be an understatement! Charlie was way south of the border, in Peru. There weren't any walls he had to climb over, either. Nate got married in the Bahamas! Congrats to him and his life-long decision. Jon has been working on his property and was robbed. So, it wasn't a fun time for all of us, just Charlie and Nate.

You may be asking, how do libertarians actually care harder? Well, we explain that for you. Most libertarians are considered heartless, or that we only care about money and big business. Really, we care about you and your quality of life. Labor is a commodity. That means, that you can compete with your labor and skills, and when it is as easy a possible for a business to thrive, the more demand you have for your labor skill.

The idea of the free market is actually truly beautiful. The fact that this system works without any rules or controls is mind boggling. What else in your life works that way? If we just allow this system to thrive, everyone would be richer for it.

This week's Whiskey of the Week: Barrel Whiskey batch 001

Good Morning Liberty

026: The Real Truth About Nashville And Big Tra...

This week we take a closer look at a local issue. On May 1st, Nashville will be voting on a mass transit plan that promises to fix the crippling gridlock that’s plagued its citizens for the last several years. Yes you heard it right, government thinks it’s the answer to fixing gridlock. All they need is more money, and they can for sure fix the problem. Assuming they are the first government in history to come in within the budget and on time, it should only cost about $9 billion and be finished by 2032.

We brought on a very special guest to help us understand the plan in more detail. Hannah Cox from the Beacon Center of Tennessee, joins us to drink whiskey, make sarcastic jokes, and maybe discuss “Let’s Move, Nashville” a little too.

The Beacon Center describes itself as “a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and independent organization dedicated to providing expert empirical research and timely free market solutions to public policy issues in Tennessee.” Hannah does a great job destroying the transit plan, so check out the episode and tell us what you think!

025: Congress Finally Declares War... On Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, was grilled this week by Senate and Congressional hearings regarding Facebook's "failure" to not safeguard Cambridge Analytica from selling 87 million user's data to 3rd parties. Somehow, this has become Zuckerberg's obligation and fault. We will say that he has this obligation, but only because of the users of Facebook want their data protected, not because it should be government mandated. The market has already moved against Facebook, including Ellon Musk deleting all of its Facebook accounts. There's not some magic law or fine that will keep this from happening. Hitting Facebook in the pocketbook will keep this from happening and it's already proven to be true before the hearings were even scheduled.

Every time I typed out these show notes, I feel like I'm always having to tell President Trump to stay off of Twitter. It really has been a circus since he has taken office as far as his tweets go. The latest we talk about, being bombing Syria and threatening Russia that they can't shoot down the missiles because they're "smart." He literally put "smart" in quotation marks, like I just did!

The United States has 0 business being involved with Syria, or bombing them, even if it were true that Assad used Chemical Weapons. There is no truth to that, but this war has nothing to do with America's security and Liberty. Our Republic is not being threatened by Assad, so there's no reason for us to go to war. We explain some of the history of Syria as well as our thoughts on this mess.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook!

Twitter.com/BigFreedomShow

Facebook.com/TheBigFreedomShow

Email us at info@thebigfreedomshow.com

024: March For Our Lives...From Spending

In lighter news, in today's show, Stormy Daniels defied her agreement with President Trump and told her story on 60 Minutes. I'm not sure why that's even news, but to each their own, we guess. Apparently, the Donald, or as we like to call him, Tariff Daddy, was reading and talking about himself when he made the cover of Time Magazine, and she took that magazine and spanked him with it. This was 11 years ago. Did anyone think that Trump wasn't going to cheat on his 4th wife. Or 8th wife - I'm not sure; I lost count.

Hundreds of thousands of kids took to the streets in protest, in what they called the "March for our Lives" this past weekend. Where did they come up with that name? How original is that? Oh yeah, there's already a protest called "March for Life." Real clever, teenagers. It must have taken your parents a long time to come up with that one.

Is anyone taking these kids seriously besides the left spun media? Are we really trying to listen to the same teenagers that were eating laundry detergent a mere 3 weeks ago? The Tide Pod eating craze was so popular, it forced Democrats to advocate for laws trying to compel companies not to make laundry detergent so appetizing. Seriously. And we are supposed to listen to them about policy and the natural right to protect yourself?

Your "Republican" President signed a $1.3 Trillion spending plan on Friday. Sounds real conservative. Charlie gets heated in this discussion. In fact, Jon calls him Rush Limbaugh at the end because the rant was fire! How is it, that "conservatives" in power pass the second largest spending bill in United States history? And the President has the gall to say, "I'm never signing another bill like this." Then why did you sign that one!? I'll never understand that logic. Oh, and we will have to make another episode about abortion and Planned Parenthood, but in case you didn't know, yes, it still received it's $500 million in funding from the Federal Government. Can we stop voting in these clowns?

Join the conversation!

Good Morning Liberty

This week's Whiskey of the Week is Bird Dog! Not quite in the Hall of Shame, but it was close.

023: Trump Proclaims Death Penalty For Getting ...

Another Libertarian show talking about drugs... Except this one is different! It's time to have a real conversation about drugs. Drugs are bad. Heroine destroys lives. The opioid crisis is real. Trump and his administration's plan is horrible. Here's why.

In a speech, President Trump talked about being tough of drug dealers and drug traffickers. In fact, he called for the death penalty. Now, whatever your feelings are about drugs or this black market business, calling for the death penalty doesn't solve this problem. What is this? 1400 England? Do we have a king shouting, "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD?"

The fact remains, prohibition doesn't work. It never has and it never will. Building walls, locking people up, and instituting a death penalty, will not curb the issue that we see. History proves that prohibition didn't work with alcohol, and the last 50 years proves that the drug war hasn't worked either.

What do we do about the violence, drug overdoses, and the $340 billion dollar black market of illicit drugs? Believe it or not, legalize them! Just because something is legal doesn't mean you have to do it. Plus, don't you own yourself? Can you decide what goes into your body, or does the government get to decide that?

Good Morning Liberty

This week's Whiskey of the Week is Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. A delectable, spicy, sipping whiskey.

022: Why Profit Isn't Greedy or Evil

Jon made the ultimate libertarian mistake last episode and talked about the Federal Reserve being a for profit corporation like profit was a bad thing. But have no fear! Mistakes allow you to expand on your intent and it brings you the newest episode on why profit is a good thing.

First things first, what is profit? What is money? Well, money is just a representation of value to trade with others. Profit is trading to get excess value to trade for additional things that are needed or wanted. We get in depth on basic economic principles of money and the profit motive.

The profit motive is what drive efficiency an innovation. The greatest things in life have come from people looking for ways to make life better, easier, and more comfortable all due to wanting to make profit.

Milton Friedman said, "It's always the other fellow whose greedy. It's never any of us." Whether or not you are a business owner, everyone tries to make as much money as possible for the least amount of work. When you interview for a job, you want the highest salary possible.

Apple, Uber, Ford, Space X, Facebook and Amazon are just a few companies that have given us examples of how profit has improved everyone's lives. Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, and Ellon Musk are all epitomes of visionaries driven by making a profit.

Listen in and let us know what you think! Help spread this message!

Good Morning Liberty

021: Why You Should Want The Government To Audi...

I think it goes without saying that we believe in less government intervention here on Good Morning Liberty. So why is it that we should cheer on Rand Paul for wanting to audit the Federal Reserve? What is the Federal Reserve? We answer these questions and much more in this in depth episode. It's important to understand economics and financial institutions, because it's affecting your life more than you think. What if you could purchase 8% more groceries, gas, or clothes in your life? Would that drastically improve your situation?

Dr. Ben Carson, President Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has supposedly lobotomized HUD. Basically, Carson sees a different direction for those that are dependent on HUD. He believes that people have a poverty mindset, and instead of continuing to just house them, we should work to help move them out of poverty. Dr. Carson didn't even fight to not decrease the HUD's budget. This is a good thing, and we explain why.

Follow us on Twitter for Trolling with Nate!

Good Morning Liberty

020: Even Libertarian Show Hosts Fall Down The ...

Those that don't know history are destined to repeat it. Several have said this, but I believe this specific quote comes from Edmund Burke. It's a powerful statement, really. How quickly can humankind forget events that have so negatively impacted them? This phenomenon spans many issues, but in today's episode, we discuss some more gun debate and we are high on tariff watch.

President Donald Trump has announced on social media and other outlets, that a steel and aluminum tariff are coming. This is part of his America First agenda. Really, it's a way to stir up his base. However, this doesn't put America First. It only benefits a very minute sector of American industries and could be costly to every other American. As I mentioned before about history, one only has to look to the 1930's to understand why tariff's like this are an atrocity. That time period was the last time that America exported more than it imported. It wasn't a good time. Don't be fooled. Listen in and hear why this is bad news for everyone.

We hated to do this, but a gentleman we really admire on the show, and listen to his show all the time, the Jason Stapleton Program, has gone back and forth with a listener about some different gun control measures. Shockingly, we didn't agree with what Jason had to say in regards to a position he was defending. Jason defends a stance that guns can be taken away from you in a restraining order type process, if your mom or relative petitions the court, before due process has taken place. We explain what constitutes due process as well as not wanting to give an inch to the gun grabbers. We have given enough inches, it's time to take back some of our liberties.

019: The 2nd Amendment is About Protecting Your...

It wasn't that long ago that the Bundy's and a bunch of ranchers in Nevada held off federal agents in a standoff. An overreaching, tyrannical branch of the federal government, the BLM, was deterred from trying to achieve theft of property by citizens with guns. This is why the 2nd amendment exists.

The constitution is nothing new. A light bulb didn't go off in the founders' heads, and they drafted the constitution. It comes from over 600 years of experience of dealing with tyranny and oppressiveness. There's a specific reason the constitution is meant to limit government and protect natural rights for people.

The King himself, Jon King, wasn't able to make this episode. He's out filming, so Nate and Charlie recorded in a makeshift home studio to bring this to you. We discuss some self responsibility, how to not be a victim, what it means to work for what you want, and some deeper personal stories.

018: The Real Truth About Gun Control

We're back! We have missed every single one of you. The flu struck Good Morning Liberty, but we have persevered!

There's nothing easy to say about today's topic. The shooting in Parkland, Florida, was nothing but tragic. How did we get here? What's the answer? We discuss some possibilities surrounding the surge in school shootings over the last 20 years. Just a hint: there are no easy solutions.

We know gun control won't work. There are over 300 million guns in America, and confiscation of those weapons would be impossible. Background checks are already required. It's already against the law for violent criminals to purchase or possess a gun. What can lawmakers do?

As libertarians, we believe first and foremost in liberty and freedom. Above all, those principles are natural rights. That doesn't mean you can't be pro-life and pro-gun. Those two things can exist. This is a discussion you won't hear anywhere else, especially in the libertarian or conservative realms. Nate has an idea that could possibly take us on some steps to making kids safer, and allowing freedom to prevail.

017: Stock Market Flash Crash and Bitcoin, FISA...

We have a packed episode for you today! Lots of things happening on a Monday actually, for us to bring to you on this fine Tuesday.

First things first, what's happening in the stock market? Whether or not you think it's Trump's fault, we tell you everything you need to know about the flash crash. Your Lispy Libertarian, Nate Thurston, watches the market every day. Bitcoin makes the market watch discussion as The Jon King chimes in with his Bitcoin losses by the second.

At the end of last week, Republicans decided to declassify their Memo listing out a he-said, she-said version of FISA abuses. It's no surprise that Government is abusing it's power, especially when it comes to violating the fourth amendment. The real headline should focus on how Congressman Nunes, and the intelligence committee ilk, knew about what was happening and sat on the information while Congress voted overwhelmingly to expand and extend FISA power for another 6 years! Charlie gets heated in this one.

Interesting story about restaurants and how tips will be divided among servers. Should the restaurant owner be able to collect all tips and then decide if he even wants to give them to the servers appropriately? The liberals make our taxation is theft case for us in this one!

Every episode, we can't escape our tariff daddy, Trump. Apparently, there will be a tariff war between the EU and the USA. This is the last thing we need. Definitely the last thing Jon needs while still trying to build his house.

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, in the state of Kentucky, denies a woman's ER claim because it was determined that her illness was not life threatening. Can an insurance do this? It sounds maddening and you're right, it is, but take note of the discussion then let us know your thoughts!

Email us: info@thebigfreedomshow.com

Twitter: @bigfreedomshow

This week's Whiskey of the Week is stellar!
It's no shock that any form of Government loves power. Nashville's Metro Council is no exception. The city has decided that non-owner occupied short term rentals will be phased out. One councilwoman proclaims that they have a precedent and the authority. Is this just hotels not liking competition, or is there a real problem with homeowners using Airbnb to rent their property? We have the discussion for you!

Trolling with Nate is back! In this dramatic reading on Twitter, Nate gets a response by replying to Burger King and their "Whopper Neutrality." With a simple question, Nate is accused of favoring evil corporations. I don't want to spoil the ending, so you'll have to find out for yourself how this one ends...

Follow us on Twitter: @bigfreedomshow

Can there be a crime without a victim? We discuss if it's a good or bad thing, the cost, and if it should go up. Although there are probably wiser things to spend money on, we talk about why immigration wouldn't be so bad if we fixed the actual problem. The welfare state. I think Trump will probably get what he wants. Or the government will shut down. That sounds like a win to us!

What was immigration like before 1914? Well, we will tell you! Someone tweeted about Trump's grandpa, Fredrick Trump, immigrating when he was 16 years old, and we explain why it is different than today's immigration.

Apparantly Carrier is supposed to be in the business of getting people out of bad marriages. At least that's what some on the left would have you believe. Trump made the mistake of taking credit for Carrier staying in the US for a year, but they are going to go ahead and shut down that Carrier plant in Indiania. Those that work there and voted for Trump are now regretting their decision. This is why you should invest in yourself and not rely on politicians who don't care about you.

We wrap things up continuing a necessary talk about self responsibility and why you should take some pride in yourself.
Why does it always have to be the right versus the left? In this week's Trolling with Nate, Twitter users respond to the House GOP's announcement of how many bills it passed committee and sent to the Senate. We won't even ask the question of why they passed so many, or why there's a need to put on display that over 400 bills made it out of committee. Nate responds to someone in particular whom shouted that not one bill benefited the poor or middle class. The reading is dramatic! Somehow some people think that the rich don't pay any taxes...

Trump can't stop giving the media exactly what it wants. More fuel to try and demean his character. Allegedly, Senator Dick Durbin said, that President Trump referred to Haiti and other African countries as sh*thole countries. Is he wrong? This leads us into an immigration discussion you won't find on Facebook.

The House of Representatives has passed the extension of the FISA Act, which allows the government to continue to spy on Americans. This sounds like freedom and liberty... not! We do have some hope, as Rand Paul has mentioned that he will filibuster, and Trump tweeted negatively about it. Maybe Trump won't sign the bill if it makes it out of the Senate! Edward Snowden, the genius that told the American people of our government spying, mentions that if you don't care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say.

Do you know what a stock buyback is? We have a lot of exciting things coming your way in 2018!

President Trump is at it again on Twitter. He sent the media into a frenzy again. Apparently, Kim Jong Un mentioned in a New Year's speech that he has a nuclear button on his desk, and Trump responded by saying he has a much bigger nuclear button and his actually works. Obviously Trump is just firing up his base and Kim wants a seat at the table as a nuclear power. We discuss the non-aggression principle, how it applies, and whether or not a preemptive strike is a good idea.

A new segment is upon us! Trolling with Nate! Each week, we will have a dramatic reading of Nate's passive aggressiveness on Twitter as he tries to get people to engage in conversation and teach them all about Liberty. We discuss another Twitter battle about Wal-Mart's wages and the fight for $15. Not surprisingly, the CEO pay wouldn't even put a dent in raising wages.

Your favorite Tariff Daddy, Trump, can't get enough of punishing Canada. Jon dives into the new tariffs and how they are affecting business. Apparently the way to Make America Great Again, is to put other countries down. We talk about how this only hurts the American consumer.

Finally, we talk about what a small government actually means. What did the founder's think?
