Padres take 2/3 in Texas vs. Rangers | 614
Reaction to the Padres series win in Arlington and a couple Padres being named starters in the All-Star Game. Dylan Cease didn't pitch well in the series opener. How concerned should we be? David Peralta came through for his first big moment as a Friar on Wednesday and Michael King pitched on the 4th of July!

Padres take Red Sox series at Fenway Park | 613
The Padres came into Fenway Park on a three-game winning streak and it didn't stop there. They dropped nine runs in one inning on Friday for their first blowout of the series. Their second came the very next day, as Jackson Merrill and Manny Machado (twice) homered to help San Diego score 11 runs to clinch their third straight series win. On Sunday Matt Waldron pitched on the same mound his mentor Tim Wakefield pitched on to close out the Friars first trip to Fenway since 2013! Apologies for the rude fans who joined the show.

Nationals talked but Jurickson Profar & Padres ...
Was this an interesting series or what...The Padres found themselves down three in the tenth on Monday but came back to win. The Nationals didn't like Jurickson Profar's celebration but it only helped fuel San Diego to another win on Tuesday. Why was Jesse Winker getting into it with a 66-year-old Padres fan after just getting walked off? Was Keibert Ruiz right to get into Profar's face? Davey Martinez thinks was a good message to send. Good for one of the teams--not sure it was his though. Did MacKenzie Gore mean to hit Jurickson? Oh and Profar hit a grand slam to take game two out of reach. After all of this, Dylan Cease pitched in the series finale on Wednesday and got some help from his catcher.

Biggest Padres surprise and disappointment thro...
Jim Russell joins the show today to give his thoughts on the Padres through their first 82 games of the season. What has been the biggest surprise and disappointment? Does Manny Machado need to show us more to know he's back? What do we expect AJ Preller to do at the deadline? Is a playoff appearance enough for him to keep his job?

Merrill helps Padres win Brewers series | 610
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Brewers in San Diego. Jake Cronenworth walked it off in game one after the bullpen almost had the game slip away--the third consecutive home walk-off win for the Padres at the time. The next night he had five hits including a homer and the go-ahead single through the left side. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jurickson Profar left the game though and Luis Campusano would go on the IL. Things got interesting late on Saturday and Michael King started in the final game. We've reached the halfway point in the season. What do fans think of this team so far? Plus, Mike Shildt provided an update on the status of Fernando Tatis Jr.

Padres lose another road series at Phillies | 609
Reaction to the Padres series loss in Philly. They got blown out in game one and yet Mike Shildt wanted to make sure his team's effort didn't go unnoticed. Game two looked like it was going to be better but then the Phillies walked it off in the ninth. Matt Waldron had his eighth straight solid outing on Wednesday. Plus, Manny Machado had some comments about his hustle to Mark Feinsand and why he isn't performing great offensively to Kevin Acee.

Padres swept by the Mets | 607
Reaction to the Padres getting swept by the Mets. Matt Waldron pitched well again on Friday but didn't get enough run support. Jackson Merrill homered for the fourth time in three games on Saturday but that was again the only run scored by the offense. Manny Machado was a big topic of discussion over the weekend after he resumed playing at third base despite not seeming to be healthy. A lot of fans aren't happy with him at the moment and it's understandable. Dylan Cease continued to give up homers on Sunday. We also have a Joe Musgrove update thanks to Kevin Acee.

Merrill, Higgy walkoffs highlight Padres sweep ...
Reaction to the Padres fun series against the A's. Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to rake, as he hit an impressive homer the opposite way in game one. Kyle Higashioka came through in the ninth to prevent Oakland from getting a comeback win. Jurickson Profar though went down after a swing and it was revealed postgame he has been dealing with left patellar tendinitis. What's the latest there? Manny Machado returned to the lineup and Jackson Merrill had himself one heck of an afternoon in the series finale! Plus, Ken Rosenthal has reported on what AJ Preller's top priority is...

Padres offense explodes in split vs. D-backs | 605
Reaction to the Padres series split vs. Arizona in San Diego. They had a five-game losing streak going into Friday night so things needed to turn around offensively and they sure did the next two games in a big way. Ha-Seong Kim, Jake Cronenworth, Kyle Higashioka, Jurickson Profar and Fernando Tatis Jr. all homered on either Friday and/or Saturday. Adam Mazur made his first home start in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

Manny leaves with injury, Padres swept by Angel...
Reaction to the Padres visit to Anaheim. Matt Waldron continues to be fantastic but the offense didn't do enough to win game one (same thing for game two with Adam Mazur making his big league debut). Per Kevin Acee, this is the first time in franchise history that the Padres have lost three straight games in which their starting pitcher went at least six innings and gave up no more than one run. Dylan Cease pitched in the finale and Manny Machado had to exit after beating out a double play ball. Plus, we have a Joe Musgrove update and Matt Kemp had some dumb comments about being in San Diego.

Padres take Royals series as Darvish, Musgrove ...
Reaction to the Padres series vs. the Royals in Kansas City. San Diego made history in game one of the series, getting ELEVEN hits in one inning a night after the team went out to dinner together on their off day. Joe Musgrove was supposed to start Saturday but instead it was Randy Vasquez, as he went on the IL again with right elbow inflammation. It wasn't just him on Saturday who went on the shelf. Yu Darvish has a groin strain and will be missing time as well. Who do the Padres go to now and what were some main takeaways from this series?

Padres take 2/3 vs. Marlins | 602
Reaction to the Padres series win over the Marlins. Memorial Day may not have been a pretty win but we'll take all the wins we can get. Tuesday was a much more enjoyable win, as Matt Waldron pitched the best he's ever pitched in the big leagues and Jeremiah Estrada struck out his 11th, 12th and 13th consecutive batters to seal the shutout victory. Yu Darvish started the series finale and exited with a hamstring injury. Mike Shildt had more interesting comments postgame...

Padres lose series to Soto, Yankees | 601
Reaction to the Padres series loss vs. the Yankees at Petco Park. It was a Home Run Derby in game one with Yu Darvish on the mound, as Soto, Judge and Stanton all homered off of him and none of them were cheapies. The offense continued to struggle against lefties and the big duo of Tatis and Machado aren't providing enough power right now compared to other notable duos. Dylan Cease and Joe Musgrove pitched the two weekend games and San Diego was able to avoid the sweep.

Padres finish off 5-2 road trip with Reds serie...
Reaction to the Padres series win in Cincinnati vs. the Reds. Sure, they were playing their third game in almost 24 hours but the offense simply needed to be better in game one to support Joe Musgrove and the bullpen. Nick Martinez faced his former team in game two and Matt Waldron pitched in the series finale. Xander Bogaerts was placed on the IL and it seems like he'll be out for the next couple months. Jake Cronenworth played his first game at 2B in 2024. Is that the best spot to put him while Bogey is out?

Padres lose Bogaerts but take 3/4 at Braves | 599
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Braves. Matt Waldron continued pitching well against good teams on Friday before game two got postponed to Monday. Yu Darvish dominated on Sunday Night Baseball with Dylan Cease and Randy Vasquez going on doubleheader day before traveling to Cincinnati. Xander Bogaerts had to leave Monday's first game after hurting his left shoulder diving for a ball. What's the latest on his health?

Padres swept by last place Rockies | 598
Reaction to the Padres getting swept at home by the Rockies. There were tons of wasted opportunities in Monday's loss but a lot of the attention was on Manny Machado. Is there hope that he'll get back to being the Manny Machado we need him to be? Dylan Cease and Michael King pitched the final two games of the series and Mike Shildt had some interesting comments during the series.

Padres take the series vs. Dodgers | 597
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Dodgers at Petco Park. Luis Arraez had one heck of a moment in his home debut on Friday night. Matt Waldron did enough on Saturday but the offense wasn't good enough. Is there concern with the bridge to Robert Suarez? Yu Darvish and Walker Buehler faced off in the rubber match. Plus, did anyone see all those Dodgers fans marching through our streets? And will AJ Preller be getting a reliever soon? (Apologies for all the coughing)

Cease dominates, Padres win Cubs series | 596
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Cubs. Robert Suarez stepped up big time in the series opener, recording a five-out save! In game two, Jurickson Profar was going to be the hero until the bullpen couldn't keep the lead. Was Mike Shildt at fault for some of the decisions? Dylan Cease returned to Chicago to finish off the series on Wednesday before an off day and boy, was he tremendous.

Padres win D-backs series but Musgrove on IL | 595
Reaction to the Padres series win in Phoenix over the D-backs! You may have heard there was a big acquisition right before the series began and he arrived in time for game two on Saturday. Luis Arraez couldn't have started off his Padres tenure in a better way, becoming the first player with a four-hit game in their debut in franchise history (oh, and the offense scored 13 runs too). Dylan Cease and Michael King pitched great and Matt Waldron threw in the series finale going for the sweep. Plus, what will the team look like positionally with an extra infield option on the roster? Joe Musgrove was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation so how concerned should we be?

Reaction to AJ Preller's huge trade from Friday night, as he acquired Luis Arraez from the Marlins for multiple prospects and Woo Suk Go. Where might he hit in the lineup and what might this mean for other guys on the roster? Plus, the Padres got production from Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth, Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill among others to help them get a win vs. the D-backs.

Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Reds. The losing streak increased to five games on Monday night, as San Diego was dominated by Nick Lodolo. Yu Darvish returned on Tuesday and the offense gave him some run support. Mike Shildt made a courageous decision in game two that led to a big inning. Joe Musgrove bounced back in the series finale before Jake Cronenworth hit a much-needed granny for the win. Oh and Brian Kenny might be insane.

Padres swept by Phillies | 592
Reaction to the Padres series disappointing series vs. the Phillies at Petco Park. Joe Musgrove hasn't looked very good this season and he took the Padres out of the game in the series opener. Manny Machado is back and not just in the lineup but at the hot corner as well. Dylan Cease couldn't match Ranger Suarez on Saturday and Mike Shildt finally made a change in the leadoff spot on Sunday with Xander Bogaerts still in the lineup.

Reaction to the Padres series split in Colorado against the Rockies. Dylan Cease is working out really well for San Diego right now and there are some amazing stats that help describe how great his start has been. Manny Machado went on the paternity list. Michael King got into trouble in game two. Matt Waldron and Randy Vasquez pitched the final three games of the road trip. Jackson Merrill missed the series finale with a groin injury. Plus, a great conversation between Eric Hosmer, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jurickson Profar and others is out.
