Padres swept by last place Rockies | 598
Reaction to the Padres getting swept at home by the Rockies. There were tons of wasted opportunities in Monday's loss but a lot of the attention was on Manny Machado. Is there hope that he'll get back to being the Manny Machado we need him to be? Dylan Cease and Michael King pitched the final two games of the series and Mike Shildt had some interesting comments during the series.

Padres take the series vs. Dodgers | 597
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Dodgers at Petco Park. Luis Arraez had one heck of a moment in his home debut on Friday night. Matt Waldron did enough on Saturday but the offense wasn't good enough. Is there concern with the bridge to Robert Suarez? Yu Darvish and Walker Buehler faced off in the rubber match. Plus, did anyone see all those Dodgers fans marching through our streets? And will AJ Preller be getting a reliever soon? (Apologies for all the coughing)

Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Cubs. Robert Suarez stepped up big time in the series opener, recording a five-out save! In game two, Jurickson Profar was going to be the hero until the bullpen couldn't keep the lead. Was Mike Shildt at fault for some of the decisions? Dylan Cease returned to Chicago to finish off the series on Wednesday before an off day and boy, was he tremendous.

Padres win D-backs series but Musgrove on IL | 595
Reaction to the Padres series win in Phoenix over the D-backs! You may have heard there was a big acquisition right before the series began and he arrived in time for game two on Saturday. Luis Arraez couldn't have started off his Padres tenure in a better way, becoming the first player with a four-hit game in their debut in franchise history (oh, and the offense scored 13 runs too). Dylan Cease and Michael King pitched great and Matt Waldron threw in the series finale going for the sweep. Plus, what will the team look like positionally with an extra infield option on the roster? Joe Musgrove was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation so how concerned should we be?

Jake Cronenworth powers Padres to series win vs...
Reaction to the Padres series win vs. the Reds. The losing streak increased to five games on Monday night, as San Diego was dominated by Nick Lodolo. Yu Darvish returned on Tuesday and the offense gave him some run support. Mike Shildt made a courageous decision in game two that led to a big inning. Joe Musgrove bounced back in the series finale before Jake Cronenworth hit a much-needed granny for the win. Oh and Brian Kenny might be insane.

Padres swept by Phillies | 592
Reaction to the Padres series disappointing series vs. the Phillies at Petco Park. Joe Musgrove hasn't looked very good this season and he took the Padres out of the game in the series opener. Manny Machado is back and not just in the lineup but at the hot corner as well. Dylan Cease couldn't match Ranger Suarez on Saturday and Mike Shildt finally made a change in the leadoff spot on Sunday with Xander Bogaerts still in the lineup.

Padres choke Rockies series win | 590

Padres offense struggles vs. Blue Jays | 589
The Padres had been playing good baseball heading into this series against the Blue Jays but like Thursday in Milwaukee, the offense didn't do much this weekend. We saw Mike Shildt's first ejection as Padres manager, Graham Pauley getting called back up and the continued struggles of Xander Bogaerts--until he homered Sunday. What other takeaways were there from this series?

The Padres went from facing one of the World Series favorites to one of the best teams thus far in the National League. The Brewers sort of handed San Diego that game one victory after Joe Musgrove didn't have a great outing. Should we be concerned about him? Talk about concern...Yu Darvish is now on the IL. Jake Cronenworth left Monday's game with calf tightness so what's the latest? Dylan Cease delivered a strong outing on Tuesday and Michael King was even better in the finale but there was one problem...

Mr. Irrelevant helps Padres win Dodgers series ...
The Padres battled with the Dodgers this weekend in Los Angeles and the guy who was called irrelevant by a Dodger came through for the series win in front of a national audience. San Diego overcame a 7-3 deficit in game one for what will be one of their signature wins of 2024. Game two was delayed which made for a late and pretty disappointing night, as the offense couldn't get a runner on base until the sixth inning. Yu Darvish faced his former team on Sunday. Plus, Tommy Pham reportedly has found a home...

Padres first series win comes vs. Cubs | 585
Ben Fadden gives you his thoughts on the San Diego Padres wild series against the Chicago Cubs. What mainly made this series wild was game one on Monday night, as you have to know by now that the Padres were down 8-0 but still ended up finding a way to win it. So much for that being the turning point though because the offense was quiet in game two and some homers were hit by Chicago. Dylan Cease went in the rubber match and looks like the Dylan Cease we all wanted.

Padres can't squeak out Giants series win | 583
The Padres faced the Giants for the second time in the last week or so and this time a split wasn't possible with the three-game series. Dylan Cease gave San Diego his first quality start of the year but it went to waste, as the offense failed to come through enough when they had the chances. Michael King pitched great in game two and Matt Waldron did his job on Sunday but it ended up not mattering when all things were said and done. Onto the Cubs series back at home.

Mike Shildt's lineup construction was interesting in the series finale. Plus, the Padres reportedly have showed interest in Luis Arraez and an interesting piece came out about former Padre Juan Soto.
