The Core 4: Is Memphis the Best Front Office in...
The Core 4 starts the New Year with a brand new episode. Xavier and Matt share their New Year's Eve recaps. Dave is playing banged up this week but presses on and opens the show discussing the Grizzlies' impressive last three games. In Embrace Debate, the guys discuss the incredible December Steven Adams had. Adams posted more than 11 rebounds per game in the final month of 2022 but is his defense going underrated? Dave wonders if his play will continue to be solid in the postseason. For this week's Kleiman Corner, Dillon Brooks is discussed. The decision not to extend Brooks this offseason had its pluses and minuses but his recent play may price him out of Memphis this offseason. Reports that Memphis could be the next team to acquire a big star have also reignited the trade machine with Brooks at the center of deals. Xavier breaks down David Roddy's improvement and Tyus Jones' contributions in his X&O's segment. Has Roddy done enough to earn more minutes? Matt believes his shooting needs to improve while Xavier is intrigued by his back-to-the-basket game. Dave likes the fit of Tyus Jones with Ja Morant on the floor and discusses the possibility of a full-time starting role. This League closes out the show, the guys rank their top four NBA front offices (and the worst). The Lakers' most recent offseason has led to them underachieving while Matt's top front office has the top seed in the West. Where do the Grizzlies rank among the leagues top front offices?

The Core 4: Christmas Day Winners and Losers
The Core 4 is back to bring you one last gift: a brand-new episode. The guys open the show breaking down the Memphis Grizzlies' loss to the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Xavier calls the loss embarrassing and Dave wonders if this is just another game out of 82 or if this loss means something more significant. In Embrace Debate, the guys discuss whether or not the Grizzlies can win on the road come playoff time. Memphis is 7-10 on the road this season and went 1-4 in their most recent road stretch. Is the one seed more important to Memphis than any other Western Conference contender? In X&O's Matt asks the tough questions about Memphis' rotation. Should David Roddy be getting more playing time? Is it okay to bench a struggling starter? Who will be left out come playoff time? Dave wants a major shakeup to the starting lineup. This League, the Christmas day slate of NBA games is always looked at as the actual start of the NBA season. With five nationally televised games the C4 Boys break down the winners and losers from the holiday. Some Winners: Boston's Playoff chances, statues, and Houston. The Losers? Lebron James and Ja Morant's debut of his signature shoe. To finish the show, the guys give out Grizzlies New Years' Resolutions in the Trophy Case segment. The guys ask Jaren to learn to stop fouling, Zaire to step up, and Zach Kleiman to make a big move.

Parker Fleming and Bryson Wright talk about the Grizzlies' road woes and the involvement and foul trouble of Jaren Jackson Jr.
Matthew Gill is back filling in to bring you your gambling preview for the Memphis Grizzlies game tonight in Denver. Gill opens the show by discussing the spread and total. The Grizzlies are a two-point road favorite which is scaring Gill off the spread but the stats tell us the Under 235.5 is the play on the total. Gill continues that theme covering the first quarter lines as well as a few player props. Could foul trouble keep Jaren from going over his totals? Dillon Brooks has been scoring at a high clip in recent weeks but his point total has become inflated and Gill looks at his under as well. But somebody has to score for Memphis and that man is Ja Morant. Gill finishes the show with his official card with all his favorite plays for tonight and a Same Game Parlay.
The Core 4: Is Jaren Jackson Jr. an All-Star?
Xavier is back this week to host the Core 4. In the intro, Matt defends his position on trading Tyus Jones this summer after catching some heat from last week's episode. In their first segment, the guys Embrace Debate on whether or not Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillon Brooks have a case to make this year's All-Star game. Ja Morant is a lock but what will it take for the Grizzlies to get a second All-Star? The west is loaded with talent but with some stars slated to miss time due to injury, there could be a path for one to make up ground in the conversation. In the Hot and Cold segment, Dave says the tanking race is heating up with teams like Utah and San Antonio returning to Earth after their more competitive starts to the season. Matt has an eye on the MVP race with an incredible performance from Nikola Jokic. As for what's cooling off? The Grizzlies' trap game performances, and the Lakers' and Warriors' injury problems. The NBA announced their regular season awards would be renamed after legends of the game. Dave gives a history lesson on these players standing in the game's history and asks the guys if the NBA missed the mark. Matt believes the league has locked them into the awards too soon and guys like Lebron and Giannis better fit a few of the awards while Xavier makes the case Jamal Crawford should not have been forgotten. To finish the show, the guys update their NBA Contenders Ranked by the College Football Playoff Committee rankings. With Memphis demolishing Milwaukee last week, and some struggles at the top of the rankings, the Grizzlies have made their debut in the top spot. How long can Memphis hold its position? Their current road trip could tell us a lot about their championship ceiling.

The Core 4 returns, similar to the Grizzlies, down a man. Matt steps in to host for an under-the-weather Xavier and he and Dave recap the 128-103 win against Atlanta in the intro. Matt praises Jaren's defensive performance while Dave says it's another ho-hum win for Memphis. In the first segment, Matt and Dave cover last week's news about Desmond Bane's injury. Bane was reevaluated for his toe injury and it was announced he will miss another 3-4 weeks. Dave believes his shooting ability is a huge loss for Memphis and Matt worries it will be hard for him to regain his shooting rhythm once he returns from injury. In Kleiman Corner, Dave discusses the rumor that Cam Reddish is available from the Knicks for just a second-round draft pick. Is he worth a swing for the already deep Grizzlies? Matt lays out why trading Tyus is actually the key to Memphis winning a title. He has proven he is a starting-caliber point guard in this league and other teams may come calling. Later, Matt and Dave discuss the upcoming schedule for the Grizzlies. Over the next 10 games, the Grizzlies will be facing a much tougher schedule than they have thus far in December. Winning is nice, but seeing how you stack up against the best teams in the league in the regular season is the best preparation for the playoffs. To finish the show, the guys give their top four NBA Title contenders: College Football Playoff Style.
