This week on Mindful Monday, we are looking at Back to School. How are you feeling about going back to school? Are you excited? Nervous? We will look at two books about how other people think about returning to school. The first book is First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg. In this story, Sarah is worried about her first day of school and does not want to get up or do anything to get ready. She is new to her school, doesn’t know anyone, and doesn’t feel like starting over. Finally, she gets to school and realizes that all her worries are for nothing. The second book is Mae’s First Day of School by Kate Berube. May also worries: What if the other kids don’t like her? Her mom tells her about all the great things she will find there. Mae arrives at school and then hides in a tree. She has some visitors in the tree, and they talk about everything they are worried about.

Peter Rabbit is visiting with Johnny Chuck in today’s story when they hear the fuss in the big pine. They wonder what is going on. Sammy Jay comes flying by and they ask him what is all the noise about. Sammy says the crows are teasing Hooty the Owl because he cannot see so well. Peter and Johnny see the Farmer’s boy heading to where Hooty is and know that they need to help Hooty but how can they get there in time?

This story is about some weeds that grow next to a farmer’s field. The weeks are worried about their children and what will become of them? They ask the rye for advice but the rye is not very pleasant with his reply and so the weeds were left to decide on their own. They asked the breeze for help to spread their seeds and the breeze agreed but each of the weeds asked the breeze to not tell the other weeds. In the Spring we will see if the weeds managed to get their seeds spread or not.

The Story of two little Seeds in a story about two seeds that find a way to speak to each other as they are waiting to grow. One of them wants to be a rose because then everyone will love them. This seed gets some water and starts growing. They grow and grow and push themselves up straight and tall but when they look around they realize that everything is not quite as they thought it would be.

Butterwops is a beetle who has lived for a long time. The younger beetles call him “the general” and he tries his best to guide them. When the man in the house where they are living starts putting yellow stuff on the floor the beetles don’t do so well. Butterwops tells them not to eat it but it smells sweet and the younger beetles don’t always listen. When Jimmy, Butterwops great-grandson, tells him that there are new people in the house next door Butterwops decides to take his beetles and move. Will things be better in this new house?

This is the second part of the Travels of Prince Flamingo. Prince Flamingo lives happily with the Emperor until one day he hears the men deciding how to get rid of them both. White Wing warns the Emperor and he sends him away so that they cannot capture him. White Wing flies away and heads back to where he was born. When he arrives he rules and makes some changes that will last for all time.

The Travels of Prince Flamingo is the first part of our story about Little White Wing. He is a baby flamingo that is born into a place with hundreds of other flamingos. When they start changing colors and turning pink Little White Wing stays white. The King of flamingos tells everyone that Little White Wing needs to go. His mother sends him off before they come to take him away and he heads off to see if he can find out where he belongs.

In the second part of The Remarkable Rocket, the Rocket cannot be fired because it got too wet. The next day the workers throw it over the fence, and the Rocket sinks into some mud. It meets some creatures and gets picked up by some boys before ending up falling on a Goose.

In this story, Flippy feels tired of staying home alone all day and decides to have an adventure right in their own backyard while it's still daytime. Can you believe that a stuffed walrus can truly come alive and go on an adventure? Or maybe, just maybe, Flippy is just dreaming while fast asleep?

The Remarkable Rocket part one starts with the Prince greeting his Princess as they get ready to get married. The King is very excited and has planned to have fireworks as part of the celebration. The fireworks start talking about everything that is happening when they hear a cough. It is the Rocket and he expects everyone to pay attention to what he has to say.

Flippy is not an ordinary stuffed animal. When the moon rises high in the sky, and her best friend drifts off to sleep, Flippy comes to life and goes on adventures. On this night, Flippy creates a cozy tent out of blankets and pillows for a camping adventure under the starry night sky. With her animal friends, she tells stories, is amazed at the beauty of the stars, and drifts off happily to sleep.

In a magnificent city, a brave swallow embarks on a journey to Egypt. He stops to rest on the statue of The Happy Prince, but when he feels rain he considers looking for a new place to rest. The Swallow looks up to see it is The Prince who is crying tears instead of rain. The Prince asks the swallow for help, and together they embark on an adventure to bring happiness to sad people in the city.

Flippy is a soft and cuddly companion who always kept Evie company, day or night. But Flippy was not an ordinary stuffed animal. When the moon rose high in the sky and Evie drifted off to sleep, Flippy came to life and longed for adventure. One night, as Evie and Flippy lay cuddled in bed, Flippy decided to use her imagination to go on a trip all by herself.

This is the final part of our story of Doctor Dolittle. Jip is still trying to help the little boy find his uncle but has no luck until the wind shifts to the West. Once he has the scent they set off to find the uncle and return them home. At last Doctor Dolittle can finally go back to Puddleby.

This story is about a young girl named Lily who loves spending time in the forest with her mother, listening to the birds. One day, Lily hears a new bird song and becomes fascinated with learning about the different birds in the forest. With her mother's guidance, Lily learns about the birds and develops a deeper connection with nature. The story ends with an encouraging message for children to explore and learn about the natural world around them, along with a deep breathing exercise to help them feel calm and relaxed.

Doctor Dolittle has promised the small boy that he will help him find his uncle. He speaks to the porpoises and calls on some eagles but no one can find the uncle. Jip, the dog, thinks he can find the uncle so he takes a sniff of his handkerchief and puts his nose to the wind. Will Jim find him?

Benjamin is an adventurous beaver who lives in a pond but dreams of seeing the world beyond it. One day, he ventures into the unknown, facing challenges and learning valuable lessons. He discovers new landscapes, makes new friends, and gains confidence and wisdom as he explores the world beyond his pond. When he returns to the pond, he inspires his fellow beavers to see the world through fresh eyes and to never stop exploring.

In part 8 of our story, Doctor Dolittle and his pets are on the pirates ship and sailing away as fast as they can but the pirates block their way. Doctor Dolittle tries to talk to the pirate and reason with him and keep him distracted while the ship starts to sink. When the pirates realize that their boat is sinking they get into the water and the sharks start circling. The sharks start circling around and Doctor Dolittle asks the pirates to promise to change their way and they promise. If they forget the sharks have promised to come back for them.

Ziggy is a young alien from a planet far away from Earth. While trying to learn about Earth for a school assignment, her spacecraft suffers a malfunction and crashes. While her ship repairs itself, she meets a family of deer and becomes their friend. After our story, we will check in with you again and leave you with some relaxing sounds to close your eyes to.

In the 7th part of Doctor DoLittle the animals are trying to help make their ship sail faster as they notice that there are pirates chasing them. The swallows come up with a great idea and it is working until they get too tired and need to take a rest. They hide the ship in a small bay and everyone gets off, including the rats. When they were looking for water they heard that the pirates were in the bay and had gone onto their ship. What should they do now?

Tilly and Bella are a cat and dog who are the best of friends. As they go outside for a walk, they learn all about friendship while they enjoy the sights and sounds of Spring. After our story, we check in with you again and leave you with some relaxing sounds to close your eyes to.

Doctor Dolittle is finally on his way home. The monkeys shook his hand and then Doctor Dolittle and his pets head off to the shore wondering how they will make it home with no boat. When Chee-chee goes on ahead to look for coconuts the group gets lost and ends up heading into the Kings backyard. Of course the King locks them up again but Polynesia manages to fly away before anyone sees her and she and Chee-chee come up with a plan to get everyone out of the dungeon.
