Pierson is best known for being a twice emmy nominated actor, he's been on shows and movies across a wide variety of networks including the Disney Channel, CW, TruTv and recently booked the biggest job of his career - he's going to be starring in an action comedy movie alongside Kevin Hart and Woody Harleson called "The Man from Toronto"Pierson reached out to us a few weeks ago wanted to talk about YouTube - as the quarantine era began Pierson took his career into his own hands, creating content across social platforms and quickly growing a following of over 2M on TikTok, 70,000 on YouTube and almost half a million on Instagram. He's on the few actors in his age group to make the jump from Traditional media to digital creator and he's had so much success in doing so because he's got a pretty interesting and eclectic background. We absolutely loved chatting with pierson which is why this podcast is 2 hours long, we talk about everything from his early upbrining on a farm in washington to his big break in hollywood, dating a celebrity and dealing with papparazzi up to growing an audience on social as an actor. We did film this episode and it's up on our podcast channel right now so if you want to watch the episode you can head over there, subscribe to our new podcast channel and let us know in the comments what type of topics you want to see on the podcast and the podcast channel. Alright let's dive right in - I think you guys will really enjoy this episode of the colin and samir podcast featuring Pierson Fode.

A $17,000 gamble on YouTube ft. Airrack

Watch the video version of this podcast: https://youtu.be/kzBU9gEHx_M

Check out our Online Storytelling Course: https://moment.8ocm68.net/keM6z

Eric Decker aka Airrack started uploading to YouTube in January 2020. He started this year with 50 YouTube subscribers and today he has over 500,000. He’s had explosive growth this year and his mission is to get to 1M youtube subscribers - in order to get there he’s had to do some pretty crazy things including taking out a $17,000 loan to pay for one video. He’s one of the most committed creators we’ve come across and we definitely feel like he has what it takes to get to 1M subs and probably even further than that - and once you hear this episode I think you’ll agree with us on that as well. If you aren’t familiar with his videos, just type in Airrack on YouTube, I’d recommend that you watch his Couch series, that’ll give you a pretty good understanding of who he is.

A candid look into our brainstorming process

This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast we’ve got a bit of a different episode for you guys, we asked you on instagram what you wanted to see in the storytelling course that we’re working on and a lot of you asked about the brainstorming process. So we had a brainstorm planned for the week and thought we’d just press record and bring you a long. Storytelling isn’t just about the specific videos we make but also about a brand as a whole, a great brand is a great story - and we feel like we could e telling a better story as a brand. So in this brainstorm we work through our show the breakdown and try and come up with a Unique Value Prop for the show as well as the branding elements and framework that will communicate the unique value prop to the audience.

50 Million Views with Coolman Coffeedan

This week, on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we’re joined by Danny Casale aka Coolman Coffeedan. Now we actually recorded this episode a few weeks ago and we are working on a YouTube video with Danny, but felt like right now was a good time to release it because Danny’s story is extremely inspiring and he built a lot of his career from his bedroom...which is where a lot of us are spending most of our time now. Danny is a NYC based artist who has gained popularity through his surreal, and poorly-drawn animations. He calls himself a Bad animator, but his bad animations have made there way on to the big screens at times square… he’s got 2M subscribers on YouTube, 2 Million on Instagram 1.5 Million followers on Facebook and another 1.3 Million on Tiktok, so clearly his animations connect with a lot of people. He recently released an album on Spotify

Although he’s been uploading to Youtube for over 10 years for His style first took off in 2017 when he released an animation titled Snakes have Legs, which was basically a PSA for people to stop believing everything they read on the internet. The video has over 10 million views on Danny’s facebook and has been shared all over the internet. Spending the day with Danny was awesome, he’s a big inspiration to us, his message is strong and his style is so relatable. I would recommend checking him out on instagram before you listen to this so you can get a feel for his style, he even recently put out a song about washing your hands. We met Danny earlier this year at Samsung Unpacked and we quickly bonded over our mutual love of emo music… so if you’re into that too, tweet at us @colinandsamir

$70,000 in a day ft. Thomas Dajer of Yes Theory

This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast I’m joined by Thomas Dajer. Thomas is the lead editor for the YouTube Channel, Yes Theory - we’ve had him on the show before to talk the what goes on behind the scenes of Yes Theory and how they craft their stories that reach millions of people. This week, we’re talking about something different, Thomas competed in one of Mr. Beasts challenges - now if you are unfamiliar with Mr. Beast, he’s a creator with over 32 million subscribers - he does these big social experiments that often times end with some sort of cash prize. Thomas not only competed in the video but also Won (and he won $70,000...) We spend the first 20 minutes of the episode talking about the making of that video - so If you haven’t seen it yet - watch Yes Theory’s version on their channel and then listen to the podcast - it’ll make more sense once you’ve watched the video, We also talk about Thomas’ trip through Europe, his modeling career, his on-camera appearances and his efforts to expand his identity, it’s a really interesting conversation that we had a lot of fun having.

This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we talk about our latest movie, The Lost Pyramid, with Ammar Kandil of Yes Theory. Behind the Scenes of Yes Theory ft Thomas Dajer

This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we’re joined by Yes Theory’s head editor, Thomas Dajer. We talk about the ups and downs of what it’s like to be a full time editor, and TD has been editing full time for 4 years now. In those 4 years, Yes Theory has built an audience of over 4 million subscribers and TD has edited videos that have gotten over 416M views on YouTube Alone, including a number of videos that have over 10M views.

Editing is one of the most important crafts in filmmaking, especially on youtube - it’s where the story comes together, and it’s what separates the good channels from the great ones. Some creators take on the edits themselves and some bring on others to help tell their stories - the bottom line is, without editing, films don’t get made. Editing is also where a lot of creators tend to burn out - long hours, not much sleep, creative roadblocks, software problems, the list goes on. Earlier this year we worked with TD on a documentary for Yes Theory’s channel called “Frozen Alive” and during that time we connected on our love hate relationship with the craft of editing and that’s a big part of what we explore on the show today.

We also cover ton of other topics such as personal fulfillment, time and relationship management as a creator and how it feels to be the guy behind the guys.
