Dr Ronaye Calvert and Bindi Heit from https://livetreatmentvip.com/ (LIVE Treatment Concierge Services) are joined by special guest, Antonia Rolls with - Now you see ME: The art of bringing humanity and dignity to addiction recoveryOur guest:Antonia Rolls is an artist from Bognor Regis, a small seaside town on the south coast of the UK. She was born an artist, never wanting to do or be anything else and became a professional portrait artist. After losing her partner in 2007, she trained as a Soul Midwife, a holistic and emotional support for those at the end of life. At this time, she began creating an exhibition of paintings and stories around the end of life, called A Graceful Death. For ten years, she worked both on this project and as an end of life companion, and during these years lost another husband, her parents and a brother. But, there is addiction in Antonia’s family too. Her response is to create a new project, portraits and words from and of addiction as a way to try and understand. She has had to find a way to survive the craziness, the destruction and the distress of watching a loved one spiral out of control and resist all help. The project, Addicts And Those Who Love Them, behind every addict is someone traumatised by loving them, simply tells stories. She asks other people in addiction – whether an addict, in recovery, helping addicts or in a relationship with an addict – what is happening for them. In this moving episode, we explore:How art lights the way for healing and recoveryHow to love someone with addiction and take care of yourselfHow portraits allow addicts to see the reality of who they areHow being seen and heard is the first step in healingSongs - Leave a light on by Tom Walker - Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind - Artist in the Ambulance by ThriceListen via Spotify playlist - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4cbC8AMJk4i0JXTFlhyXbo?si=8733148fd19a4343 (GET REAL with Dr Ronaye)Meditation - https://insig.ht/NcBE644Ksob?utm_source=copy_linkandutm_medium=live_stream_share (Let go of what you know)This podcast is brought to you by http://www.ethicalchangeagency.com/ (Ethical Change Agency).

Dr Ronaye Calvert and Bindi Heit from https://livetreatmentvip.com/ (LIVE Treatment Concierge Services) discuss trauma - "The Smooth Criminal" - the mindfuck of questioning your own reality: Definition - Gaslighting is a colloquialism that is loosely defined as making someone question their reality. The term is also used informally to describe someone (a "gaslighter") who persistently puts forth a false narrative which leads another person (or a group of people) to doubt their own perceptions to the extent that they become disoriented and distressed. This dynamic is generally only possible when the audience is vulnerable such as in unequal power relationships or when the audience is fearful of the losses associated with challenging the false narrative. Gaslighting is not necessarily malicious or intentional, although in some cases it is. Exists for a purpose - self protection I am not my trauma - not going to question my own reality Being stuck in a mirror that isn't ours How we hide our own trauma Gaslighting - why we don't recognize we have been traumatised Not a comparison to others trauma Biggest mindfuck is we protect our perpetrators - permission to label it as trauma Allowing others to dictate our experience Validate experience - perpetrator Perpetuating trauma by accepting it - silence breeds permission Self doubt - doesn't look or feel like trauma - our gut always knows.- sacrificing our truth Songs - Praying by Kesha and Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri Listen via Spotify playlist - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4cbC8AMJk4i0JXTFlhyXbo?si=8733148fd19a4343 (GET REAL with Dr Ronaye) Meditation - https://insig.ht/1fBBAUrePjb?utm_source=copy_linkandutm_medium=live_stream_share (Trust your intuition) This podcast is brought to you by http://www.ethicalchangeagency.com/ (Ethical Change Agency).
