Congrats to Elaine Hornsby for becoming our newest Mind Grind Master!!  

As many as 48 pharmacies in the Kingston region could have the COVID-19 vaccine available to people as early as Saturday. We discussed who can get the vaccine and how they can go about getting the vaccine.

This morning, we chatted with Dr. Kieran Moore from KFL&A Public Health about the Section 22 order that was announced yesterday and we also talked about mass immunization and what that will look like when it rolls out. 

Dr. Aba Mortley, owner of Cher-Mère Day Spa wins Canada wide pitch competition for black business women.  Aba’s business, Cher-Mère is located in Kingston, Ontario and prior to COVID  primarily focused on spa services using her family’s Cher-Mère brand of products. With COVID, she  had to switch gears and she did so by making Cher-Mère Spa at Home boxes, to bring the spa experience home to customers using her products. Some of examples of the boxes, were a facial in a box, pedicure in a box and Maskne Box. She then built upon the boxes with brand awareness ads and product catalog ads to promote all the products through social media.  Aba also realized the impact of COVID on other businesses and collaborated to make a YGK box to support Kingston businesses and a Callaloo Box to support black and indigenous creators. On Monday, March 8th starting at 6:45 pm there will be a virtual event in celebration of International Women’s Day sponsored by Plan A Kingston & Quinte.

This Sunday, March 7th is the virtual International Women’s Day: ‘I’m a Survivor’ event. Enjoy talks from local inspirational women, a fashion show featuring local shops and modeled by the Top 10 award nominees, music, and the “2020 Survivor” Award presentation followed by a draw for the Grand Door Prize.

Amanda called into the Fresh Studio this morning to talk about this year's Pink Shirt Day in support of the Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Things are a bit different because of the pandemic but raising awareness to stop bullying is still important. 

Looks like Kingston Police want the community to help out with the cost of Murney the police horse. So Monica & Al tried to think of the perfect fundraising events to help Murney out as much as possible.
