The fed raised interest rates, affecting individuals purchasing big-ticket items with credit. The same applies to the government and how it borrows money to pay the deficit. Jack Salmon unpacks what the future holds for the economic picture of the United States in the short term.

Why It Is Time To End Cash Bail
When someone is arrested, three options await them before their trial: a judge can keep them in jail, release them, or assign them cash bail. While it is often thought that cash bail is needed to drive some back to the courtroom, this is often not true. In fact, cash bail massively impacts the finances of the people that can least afford it and it hampers their ability to move past a bad incident in their life. My guest is David Gaspar, the National Director of Operations at The Bail Project. The Bail Project is a 501 nonprofit organization aiming to pay bail for people who are not financially capable of doing so themselves.

Voters and Parents Chose School Choice in the 2...
Ron DeSantis was the bright spot for the GOP in the 2022 midterm elections. Why? He achieved crossover appeal by expanding school choice and parents' rights in Florida. This pattern has also played out in Arizona and Texas. By this, I mean real reform that makes a difference for students, not red meat for talk radio. The Republican candidates that gave lip service to reform lost big. My guest Gary Frankel shares more.

Fighting to Stop the Fentanyl Crisis with Fines...
For the second year in a row, the life expectancy of Americans dropped sharply. While COVID played the larger role, Fentanyl contributed as well. Last year was a record year for overdose deaths with an estimated 107,622, CDC says, an increase of 15% from the previous year, and 70% of fatalities were from the synthetic opioid. Especially hard hit were communities of color. According to statnews.com, "Black Americans lost 0.7 years between 2020 to 2021, and American Indian and Native Americans saw the largest loss of life expectancy of all — 1.9 years less than 2020’s life expectancy, and 6.6 years less than 2019’s."
