The Florida State Seminoles shut down the No. 15 Louisville Cardinals 16-6 on Saturday night to earn the program’s 16th conference title. FSU was led by an incredible defensive performance and did just enough on offense despite being forced to start their third-string freshman Brock Glenn at quarterback. But none of that mattered to the College Football Playoff Committee, as on Sunday afternoon they made the unconscionable and logically inconsistent argument to leave out 13-0 Florida State — one of just three undefeated teams — in favor of one-loss Texas and one-loss Alabama.

For the first time since 2014, Florida State has claimed a conference championship, riding an elite performance from its defense to secure a 16-6 win over the Louisville Cardinals.

Ten games over Friday and Saturday with five of them having some impact on who the final four teams are when they announce the College Football Playoffs on Sunday at noon.

The Florida State Seminoles football team survived the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record. Facing off against its first ranked opponent of the 2023-24 season, Florida State took on the No. 18 Colorado Buffaloes in the championship round of the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach on Tuesday.

Florida State beat North Alabama in hits home finale on Saturday night, rallying from a two-touchdown deficit to reel off the next 58 points (including a blocked field goal and touchdown return as time ran down) for a 58-13 win. The Seminoles’ slow start turned to a full nightmare after quarterback Jordan Travis was carted off the field with a horrific leg injury, forcing Tate Rodemaker into relief action where he went 13 of 23 for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 4 Florida State (11-0, 8-0 ACC) will head into next week’s rivalry showdown against the Florida Gators with a chance to cap off an undefeated regular season after beating North Alabama 58-13.

Florida State softball is coming off of another dominating season, finishing as the national runners up and capturing both the ACC regular season and tournament titles.

The Florida State Seminoles extended their overall winning streak to 16 games with a 27-20 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. It was their third consecutive win over the Canes.
