A Casual Conversation with Devon Eggers of Surf...

On this brand new episode of The Brutally Delicious Podcast we speak with Canadian musician Devon Eggers of Surface of the Sun. Tune in and learn about his music and many other endeavours,

After moving to Vancouver, Canada, in 2002 to obtain an education in audio engineering, Devon Eggers spent worked as an in-house and freelance engineer in many of the major studios around the city. During this time, he focused on developing his skills as an engineer and producer, learning from studio regulars such as Garth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chevelle, Rage Against the Machine), Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend Band), and Dave Genn (Matthew Good Band, 54-40).

During that time Devon also wrote original material with other musicians. Nothing serious ever developed, but he continued to write, finding his sound and voice as an artist. It wasn’t until around 2005, intrigued by the challenge, that he decided to pursue his music as a solo endeavour, which required moving beyond being just a guitar player.

Devon focused on developing his skills with other instruments and singing, and then wrote his debut album A Dying Star. He performed all music and lyrics (except for drums), and after some significant life changes, completed recording and mixing the album in a very small town in northern British Columbia. In 2011 Devon chose the project name Surface of the Sun, andA Dying Starwas released.

After the debut Devon continued to write material for Surface of the Sun, but also expanded into other genres releasing two EPs under a secondary solo project called Seven Acres. He also self-published his first novel, an action-packed thriller with a sci-fi twist called Sky View(available as an e-book on Amazon and Kobo), and developed his expertise as a safety professional specialized in improving workplace safety and culture.

Devon released Panacea, a 4-song EP and the follow-up to A Dying Star, on Sept 6, 2019. The album showcases his growth as an artist and engineer. It is available in all online stores and streaming services.

Devon continues to write music for the next Surface of the Sun release, and mix music for other artists. He’s also writing book two of the Sky Viewseries.
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/brutally-delicious/message

On this brand new episode of The Brutally Delicious Podcast we chat with Fang VonWrathenstein from the band Lords of the Trident.

Our metal's so pure that only diamonds can scratch it, and usually the diamonds are the ones that end up getting hurt in the end. Our amps are so loud, Manowar knocked on our door and asked us to "please turn down". You think you're bad? While you're watching our sweep picking wondering how we bend space-time to fit all the notes in, we'll punch you right in the face without missing a beat. If you like battle, bloodshed, axes, fire, and losing limbs, then mosh your way to the front row and receive your free ticket to Valhalla. If you don’t like these things – too bad.
On this brand new episode of The Brutally Delicious Podcast we chat with vocalist Todd La Torre of Queensryche.

"The band’s name is uttered in the same breath as many of the groups they looked to as influences and others who arose as peers. Queensrÿche built a dedicated legion of fans traveling the globe on tour with fellow rock giants like Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard. In recent years, they’ve consistently delivered high-octane live shows combining the hungry fire of a new band with the tempered experience of master showmen. Even with eleven gold and platinum plaques and several Top 10 hard rock anthems woven into the very fiber of the genre, Queensrÿche won’t relent. In fact, they are in the throes of a jaw-dropping creative resurgence."
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/brutally-delicious/message
