The San Diego Gulls finished the unofficial first half of the season with a pair of games at Coachella Valley where JD Hernandez had a front-row view of Lukas Dostal trying to stop the top team in the AHL. The Firebirds pulled out a last-minute victory in game one, and game two was a slaughter. Dostal then flew out to Laval where he displayed his best stuff at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic.
