The second part of our Montreal Canadiens mailbag continues today with an intriguing question: if we could go back in time and re-do the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, who would we pick 2nd after Jack Hughes? We also have questions about how the NHL lottery odds work, which Habs prospects we should not get too attached to in Montreal, which ones are most likely to be NHL regulars next year, and more.

Episode 836 - Montreal Canadiens player reviews...
Our Montreal Canadiens player review series continues with three intriguing cases. Juraj Slafkovsky had a really strange rookie year in the NHL, full of ups and downs. Mike Hoffman's performance has been somewhat disadvantaged by the fact that this team is not a great fit for him, but the effort seemed to be there this season. Jordan Harris is extremely great at what he does, as long as our expectations of him are accurately matched with his strengths and his true potential.

With the Montreal Canadiens quiet lately, we decide to take a quick look around the rest of the NHL. The Calgary Flames have fired head coach Darryl Sutter and we discuss some of the chatter surrounding that move. The Winnipeg Jets appear to be daring their fans to abandon them and we share our thoughts on that. And finally, the Boston Bruins, winners of the President's Trophy, have choked away a 3-1 series lead. We take a moment to discuss, as Habs fans.

Episode 831 - Montreal Canadiens player reviews...
Our Montreal Canadiens player review series continues with rookie defenseman Kaiden Guhle, veteran defenseman Chris Wideman, and sophomore forward Michael Pezzetta. Guhle was a bright spot in an abysmal Habs season during all the games he was able to play until his injury. Chris Wideman unfortunately did not endear himself as he previously had to the fanbase or the coaching staff. Michael Pezzetta struggled in the early going, even becoming a healthy scratch for a stretch of time, but was able to find his game and what makes him truly great by the end of the year. We discuss these players and award them their season grades.

We then talk about Jake Allen, the season he's had, and whether the Habs will say goodbye to him in the upcoming offseason. The Montreal Canadiens are essentially locked into picking 5th overall in the upcoming 2023 NHL Draft, so we asked Tony Ferrari of The Hockey News to share his insight on a few of the players that may be available to the Habs at that spot. In the first segment we discuss Will Smith, in the second segment we move on to Zach Benson, and in the third segment we focus on Oliver Moore. What do these players bring to the game? Episode 824 - Montreal Canadiens season-ending ...
The Montreal Canadiens season did not really go as hoped - the Habs did not make much progress, nor did they secure a top 3 pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, but we do have some positive notes for the season as well as a few key areas we think they failed. In the first segment, we discuss the Laval Rocket clinching a spot in the AHL playoffs before discussing some key quotes from the Canadiens locker clean out day. We follow that up with the season 3 Down, before getting into the season 3 Up to end on a positive note.

Episode 823 - Montreal Canadiens end season wit...
The Montreal Canadiens played a wild game against the Boston Bruins to close out their season at home. Lucas Condotta scored his first NHL goal on his first NHL shift, Nick Suzuki was able to tie Cole Caufield with 26 goals on the season, Rem Pitlick pulled off a ridiculous move to feed Michael Pezzetta, and more. We also have our weekly Friday Habs mailbag, in which we discuss who the Canadiens could draft at the 5th overall spot in the upcoming 2023 NHL Entry Draft, which of them would win a middle school science fair competition, which Laval Rocket was overlooked for a chance with the Montreal Canadiens, and more.

Episode 822 - Montreal Canadiens Nick Suzuki's ...
The Montreal Canadiens organization still has some playoff hopes in the form of the Laval Rocket, who continue to stay alive in the AHL playoff push and continue to do it in style. The Habs lost to the Islanders but Nick Suzuki continues to perform even through some nagging injuries so we talk about his first season as a leader of this team. Finally, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been eliminated from the playoff race for the first time in a decade and a half - we take the opportunity to discuss how they got here and point out that the Canadiens were instrumental in that outcome.
