Were Wizards Involved with World WARS? - Harry ...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing what the wizarding world was up to while Muggles fought against each other during World War II. While there's lots of evidence to suggest that witches and wizards take part in many Muggle events without us even noticing, their participation in a large number of global conflicts and events like World War II remain somewhat of a mystery even to this day. The BRUTAL Death of Peter Pettigrew (NOT SHOWN ...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the death of Peter Pettigrew - aka Wormtail-- former Marauder, Order of the Phoenix member, and later Death Eater. In the magical world of Harry Potter, the fate of characters often serves as a reflection of their choices and allegiances. One such character, whose destiny diverges significantly between J.K. Rowling's books and the film adaptations, is Peter. Known for his cunning and treachery, Pettigrew's demise in the books is a fitting end to his character arc, emphasizing the consequences of his betrayal and disloyalty. However, in the film adaptation, his death is notably omitted, leaving his fate shrouded in ambiguity and raising questions about the impact of this choice on the story's overall message. Today we're going to dive into a detailed comparison of Peter Pettigrew's death in the Harry Potter books and movies, exploring the significance of his character's fate and the implications of its omission from the film. Join me as we unravel the threads of Pettigrew's twisted tale and analyze the narrative choices that shaped his destiny in both mediums. Dumbledore's 25 BIGGEST Mistakes - Harry Potter...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing all of the times that Albus Dumbledore - wise old Hogwarts Headmaster- was WRONG- or just had terrible judgement. I know, this is a strong stance to take at the very beginning of a video...but with the title being what it is, it surely comes as no surprise. So, let's get in to it! Dumbledore was many things throughout the Harry Potter series. Mentor to our young protagonist, Harry, Hogwarts Professor-turned-Headmaster, loyal member of the Order of the Phoenix – a wizarding legend in his own right. He was also quite frequently just plain WRONG. And if you don't believe me, let's take a look at all the times – that we know of – that Albus Dumbledore made decisions that were incredibly questionable, if not altogether incorrect. I've counted 25, and I welcome your additions in the comments below this video if you think I've missed any! How Dumbledore MANIPULATED Voldemort from the B...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing a very messed up Harry Potter theory of mine that outlines some questionable actions and behaviour from Albus Dumbledore- suggesting that perhaps Dumbledore, wise old loveable benevolent wizard and Hogwarts headmaster, was actually a master manipulator responsible for the destruction of Lord Voldemort's soul. This theory alleges that Dumbledore, like he did with Harry, raised Voldemort like a 'pig for slaughter'. Now, let me start off by saying that there are dozens of theories out there which suggest that when it comes to Dumbledore there's a LOT more than meets the eye.- One of the predominant theories addresses Dumbledore's relationship with Harry Potter, with fans arguing that Dumbledore intentionally raised Harry to be a "sacrificial lamb," knowing that Harry would eventually have to die to destroy the Horcrux within him. The theory explains that Dumbledore manipulated Harry's every move and that he only revealed crucial information to Harry when it was absolutely necessary, potentially guiding Harry towards his predetermined fate. Other theories painting Dumbledore as a manipulative mastermind relate to his relationship with Snape. In the series, Dumbledore was able to convince Snape to become a double agent by using Snape's love for Lily Potter as leverage. Dumbledore was careful to keep Snape's true allegiance a secret from Harry and the Order of the Phoenix, which further allowed him to manipulate events (and Snape) behind the scenes. But none (at least none that I'VE seen) showcase Dumbledore as quite capable of manipulating the future dark lord Voldemort. But who knows Voldemort better than the man who pulled him out of Wool's orphanage? And who better to manipulate him than the very man that introduced him to the world of magic? Let's get in to it. Why Didn't Dumbledore Just HUNT Voldemort Down?...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Voldemort, Dumbledore, and one rather large question that I'm sure has crossed the minds of every Harry Potter fan at one point or another: Why didn't Dumbledore just HUNT Voldemort down? I know I know, it's not that simple. Logistically this subject is..Precarious to say the least. But, just for a moment let's pretend that Dumbledore decided to set off in search of Voldemort and simply killed the tyrannical dark wizard- effectively stopping him in his tracks. And if not KILL him, couldn't he have imprisoned him in the same way that he imprisoned Grindelwald? In the event of EITHER of these situations, what would have happened next? Would this have been any kind of a permanent solution? And of course the big one: is this situation even a feasible one? Join me as we unpack the question of why on earth Dumbledore FAILED to defeat Voldemort all by himself- instead relying on the fabled 'Boy who lived'. Let's dive in. The first thing that I want to reinforce is that Dumbledore was, unquestionably, one of the most powerful wizards in the Harry Potter universe. From an extremely young age Dumbledore's magical abilities consistently turned heads, particularly his skills surrounding charms and transfiguration. He also did exceptionally well on his N.E.W.T.S and Griselda Marchbanks, a professor working for the Wizarding Examinations Authority, remarked that Albus was able to do things with a wand that 'she had never seen before'. In his youth, Dumbledore also spent much of his time with Gellert Grindelwald, another one of the wizarding world's most powerful wizards. By association, it's likely that the two boys skillsets merged to some extent- resulting in each wizard achieving a greater level of power than what would have been independently possible. As Dumbledore grew older, he left no stone unturned when it came to magical abilities- becoming a master of transfiguration, charms, potions, elemental magic, occlumency, and more.- Dumbledore is truly the exception to the phrase 'jack of all trades, master of none' - as he was a master of all.- So if Dumbledore was SO powerful, what was stopping him from tracking Voldemort down and overpowering him, putting an end to the dark lord's reign? Well, there are a number of reasons. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Story of Delphini: Voldemort's Daughter - H...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing the background of Voldemort's (& Bellatrix's) DAUGHTER- that's right you heard me, DAUGHTER- Delphini. Now, if you've only read the original books / seen the original films, then you're probably completely lost right now. BUT, if you're up to speed on the The Cursed Child- Rowling's Harry Potter sequel that follows the children of our favourite protagonists, then you might be a little more privy with regards to Voldemort's unlikely offspring. The most interesting aspect of all of this, however, is that she was purportedly conceived DURING the events of the original books. The Harry Potter universe is rich with an ever-expanding list of complex characters and intricate storylines, with each new addition to canon adding new layers to the already vast and fascinating world created by J.K. Rowling. One such addition is Delphini, the daughter of the Dark Lord Voldemort AND..drum roll please, the infamous Bellatrix Lestrange. Delphini's existence was revealed in the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," and her character has been a source of both fascination and controversy among fans of the series. One of the main points of contention for fans is that the Cursed Child simply wasn't well done, and it's popularity has reflected that. It's marketed as the eighth story- a continuation 19 years POST Deathly Hallows which follows the children of the characters that we grew up with. Main characters include Harry Potter- who is now head of the department of magical law enforcement at the ministry of magic, his younger son, Albus Potter, who's just about to embark on his own journey at Hogwarts, Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy, and of course Delphini. But, rather than being made in to a film adaptation, the Cursed Child was made in to a two part play - rather than a feature film. The play primarily comes under scrutiny from Harry Potter fans because of its disregard for the traditional Harry Potter canon.- Though Rowling has affirmed that the play should be accepted as part of canon- most fans simply won't put up with this. This is for a couple of reasons, first of all-the storyline truly upsets our perceptions of the traditional Harry Potter universe. The notion that Voldemort could have a child when he was born entirely devoid of certain emotions, is just one example of something The Cursed Child did that didn't sit well with fans. The next big issue for most fans is that Rowling didn't write the play all on her own- and because other people had influence on how the play and story would turn out, it seems to be the general consensus that it can't truly be canon.- On the front cover, it very clearly reads: Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling John Tiffany & Jack Thorne But, just for a moment- let's entertain the version of 'canon' introduced by the Cursed Child- and the absurd notion that Voldemort- devoid of emotion and social graces, could POSSIBLY conceive a child with his right-hand-woman and resident wizarding world LUNATIC- Bellatrix Lestrange.- In this video we'll delve deeper into the background and motivations of Delphini, exploring her origins, her actions, and what her character adds to the Harry Potter universe. Every Time Harry Resisted an Unforgivable Curse...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing each instance in which Harry Potter - the aptly named "Boy Who Lived" - was hit with and RESISTED an Unforgivable Curse. To start with, I'm going to give a quick run down of the Unforgivable Curses themselves. There are, as many of you will know, three Unforgivable Curses in total. They are the Killing Curse, the Imperius Curse and the Cruciatus Curse. Each of these curses are, in their own way, incredibly terrible and can often cause irreparable and sometimes - as in the case of the Killing Curse - FATAL damage to its victims. The Killing Curse, which is also commonly referred to by the name of its incantation Avada Kedavra, will immediately kill its victim, while the Imperius Curse can fully possess another person and control their every move. The Cruciatus Curse, on the other hand, is a means of extreme torture, and causes incredible pain to its victim. If performed in sustained intervals, the Cruciatus Curse has the ability to make its victim go insane due to the intensity of the pain. While there once was a time long ago when witches and wizards were free to cast these spells at will, together, the three curses were classified by the wizarding world as "unforgivable" in 1717 and banned from use. This classification therefore designates the strictest punishment for any witch or wizard caught using them, which is life imprisonment in the wizarding prison of Azkaban.- Of course, this classification did little to dissuade the dark witches and wizards throughout the ages from using them, including Lord Voldemort and his loyal Death Eaters. As a result, tragically, many powerful witches and wizards fighting for good have died at the end of a wand casting an Unforgivable Curse. That is, except for Harry Potter - as this young wizard is the only known person to have experienced, resisted, and survived all three curses.- So, let's take a look at each instance, and uncover how he did it. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing the DARK WIZARDS of times past. Now, when most people hear the term 'dark wizard' their mind likely jumps to 1 of 2 figures, Voldemort or Grindelwald. But what if I told you that, over the course of history, there were quite a few OTHER dark figures responsible for conducting dark magic and/or terrorizing the greater wizarding world. Today, we're going to dive in and take a look at some of these lesser-known wizards, starting with the oldest. Given that for many of these wizards we only have approximate dates, I'll do my best to get the order right. Let's get in to it. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the fabled Deathly Hallows, Barty Crouch Jr, and methods of Invisibility. Specifically, we're going to be honing in on WHAT types of invisibility are achievable, and how on earth Barty Crouch Jr was able to get his hands on a cloak of invisibility. Let's get in to it. Now, when it comes to the magical world of Harry Potter let it first be known that there are various ways of achieving invisibility. The fabled invisibility cloak is but just one of FOUR ways that one might be able to DISAPPEAR from the naked eye. Invisibility refers to the magical ability to become invisible and undetectable, and in order to achieve this useful feat one can go about it a multitude of ways, starting with the MAIN topic of today's video... The Forgotten History of Horcruxes and the FIRS...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're diving DEEP in to the subject of Horcruxes, and discussing a historical figure who created a Horcrux LONG before Voldemort ever did. And it's NOT who you think. JK Rowling once revealed that, over the course of history, many witches and wizards tried to create a horcrux, in spite of a severe lack of instruction from evil textbooks. "...wizards would have been looking for ways to do exactly what Voldemort did for years. And some of the ways they would have tried would've killed them. So, I imagine it- well, they're huge parallels- splitting the atom would be a very good parallel in our world. . . . I do imagine that other people are going to have tried. I think it would be naive not to think that people have been trying for a long time, and thought they succeeded and hadn't, or else maimed themselves or killed themselves in the attempt. It's such a dangerous thing to do."- What this quote tells me is that maybe, just maybe, there's a wizard out there that was able to produce a horcrux before ANYONE else- they just never made it in to the history books. After all, if the idea of producing a horcrux is self-preservation, why would you want to boast about it and bring it to everyone's attention? I happen to have one very good guess for WHO this wizard might be, the ORIGINAL Horcrux creator, but first, let's look at the other wizards in Harry Potter canon who are credited as having created Horcruxes AND let's look at what exactly a Horcrux IS. The Twisted Origins of Barty Crouch Jr (Cut fro...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be looking into the early life of Barty Crouch Junior - with a particular focus on how he became so terribly EVIL. That is, what happened to him during his childhood and adolescence that may have contributed to the incredibly dark wizard he turned out to be? In looking further into his life, it seems that his capacity for doing terrible things came from a combination of innate evilness and mental instability...here's what I learned about the character who's story was never told in the movies. The second of his name, Barty was officially born Bartemius Crouch Junior sometime during the year of 1962 to a Bartemius Crouch Senior and a frail, wispy-looking witch known only as Mrs. Crouch. Growing up, Barty Junior was described as a pale boy with straw-coloured hair and freckles. The Crouches came from a long line of pureblooded witches and wizards, with Barty Senior holding a prominent position in the British Ministry of Magic even back in the 1960s. As it were, Mr. Crouch was extremely focused on hunting down dark wizards and held great ambitions of one day becoming Minister for Magic - so much so that he rarely had time for his son. With this information, it's easy to assume that Barty Senior spent much of his time at the Ministry, and very little of it at home with his family. 10 Philosopher's Stone Mistakes the Harry Potte...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the top 10 mistakes that the first Harry Potter film made that the new HBO Max SHOW can FIX.- When The Philosopher's Stone movie came out in 2001, Harry Potter fans all over the world flocked to theatres to see their favourite boy wizard brought to life. And while the film truly was magical in its day, it made a fair amount of mistakes when compared to the novel. With so much detail to cram into a two-and-a-half-hour movie, it's completely understandable that certain aspects of the book were unable to make it into the film version of The Philosopher's Stone. But in addition to some of these omissions, there were also just other, well, MISTAKES. Today, I'll be taking you through 10 of the most obvious mistakes from the first Harry Potter film, which I believe the new reboot of the series can FIX. 8 Pensieve Memories NEVER Shown in the Movies -...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're discussing ALL of the memories that we see through the Pensieve in Harry Potter-8 of which were NOT SHOWN in the movies. Rare and powerful, the majority of Pensieves are typically quite small devices that, due to their incredibly personal nature, are often kept on one's person. Of course, one very notable exception of this is the large Pensieve located in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This Pensieve is used to store all of the school's Headmasters memories so that their predecessors may watch and learn from them. It's described as large, ornate, ancient, and made entirely out of stone, with engravings of modified Saxon runes etched all over it. It is also said to be so old that some witches and wizards believe that the Hogwarts' Pensieve predates even the school's castle. To use a Pensieve one needs only to extract a memory, deposit it into the Pensieve's basin, give it a stir, and immerse oneself into the memory. Often described as wispy or gossamer in appearance, memories in this form are believed to be neither liquid nor solid, and are used as described by Albus Dumbledore in the following passage:- "One simply syphons the excess thoughts from one's mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure. It becomes easier to spot patterns and links, you understand, when they are in this form." As readers of the books will recall, the Pensieve was used quite frequently throughout the series after its introduction in the fourth novel, The Goblet of Fire. In the films, however, it shows up substantially less. So, in honour of the new HBO Max reboot of the series that was recently announced, I've decided to share with you ALL of the Pensieve memories from the original novels.- Let's dive right in. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, I've got something very special for you- my longest ever video, and in this video we'll be discussing what happened to ONE HUNDRED - that's right, 100, different characters from Harry Potter AFTER the story had ended.- After the Battle of Hogwarts and the closing of the Deathly Hallows, we barely got a glimpse at what happened in the lives of the characters we grew to love (and in some instances, hate) so much.- But fortunately, thanks to extended lore, and a LOT of research on my part, I've got some answers for you guys. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing (once again) the recently announced HBO Harry Potter TV Series! VERY BRIEF update for those unaware- Warner Bros. Discovery made headlines all around the world last week when they confirmed plans for a new Harry Potter series. "Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally." But- as I discussed in my PREVIOUS video on the topic - 'Recasting Harry Potter for HBO Max - Philosopher's Stone - I can't help but wonder about casting. With such big shoes to fill, casting for this series must be a bit hectic. That's why today I'm going to be picking up where I left off in the last video and casting for the SECOND installment of the Harry Potter series- the Chamber of Secrets. Like I mentioned last time, I want to see fresh faces for all of the child actors, so I'll be sticking to strictly some of the main ADULT characters introduced in the second book. Everything the Movies MISSED That I Want to See...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing some events and characters from the Harry Potter books that were subsequently omitted from the films. The fact that some of these events / characters were never shown on-screen has certainly always been a sore subject for Harry Potter book fans, but today I've got some good news. Just recently a new Harry Potter TV Show was announced for HBO- and I suspect that this could be what we have all been waiting for- a chance to finally view some of these unexplored moments, places and characters on-screen. The show is allegedly set to span a decade, and provided that the actors have to AGE to play their older selves, I'd be willing to bet that this 'decade' long promise is going to be somewhat accurate.- With that said, a decade long TV series exploring the books presents an awful lot of opportunity to uncover and unravel aspects of the story that may have never been brought to the silver-screen, and I'm here for it. Without further ado, here's 10 pieces of uncharted film territory. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Harry’s Most POWERFUL Magic NOT Shown in the Mo...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Now, lately I’ve talked a lot about Sacrificial Protection - an ancient, potent and enduring counter-charm that’s invoked when an individual willingly and selflessly sacrifices themselves out of a profound and unadulterated love to protect the lives of their loved ones. And the reason that it’s been brought up is that Sacrificial Protection is in fact a form of Ancient Magic- which has come to the forefront of many Harry Potter fan’s minds through the new Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy. The idea of sacrificial protection is introduced in the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Harry's mother, Lily Potter, sacrifices herself to save her son from Voldemort's killing curse. Her love and selflessness creates a powerful magical protection that ultimately results in the end of Voldemort’s first reign of terror. But In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the concept of sacrificial protection is introduced once again and actually ends up playing a fairly major role in the ultimate defeat of Lord Voldemort. But this is all stuff you knew, what I want to uncover today is a lesser-known tidbit about this magic that may in fact have been the most powerful display of magic in the entire Harry Potter series. In fact, this piece of information was nearly entirely glossed over in the films. Recasting Harry Potter for HBO Max - Philosophe...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing the recently announced HBO Harry Potter TV Series! For those who live under a rock, the announcement of a new Harry Potter HBO series made headlines all around the world this week.- "We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way," said HBO CEO Casey Bloys in a statement. "Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World." "Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally." And while I'm excited about the new show there does seem to be one question that keeps re-entering my mind: Who's going to be in it? Part of this will depend entirely on what direction the show takes. If the show does in fact deep dive in to each of the books, as has been reported, then there are certainly going to be a lot of big shoes to fill. However, if they decide to give us a new perspective of the wizarding world and introduce a multitude of new main characters that are SPRINKLED IN amongst known characters, then I'd imagine casting would come a lot easier. From the sounds of things it's probably going to be more in line with the former, and that's why today I'm going to be recasting Harry Potter for 2023. Assuming that the series will start with the first book, the Philosopher's Stone, let's start there and recast some of the main characters from the first installment in the series. The Life of Gilderoy Lockhart (+What Happened t...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing the twisted origins of Gilderoy Lockhart --five time winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award. Specifically, we're going to be taking a deep dive in to this enigmatic wizards life, peeling back the layers of his formative years and figuring out how and.. WHY he turned out the way he did. We'll also be looking at what happened to him AFTER his last appearance in the books and films. There's a lot of information on Lockhart, so I've tried to narrow it down to just the most important stuff. Let's dive in to it. Gilderoy Lockhart was a British half-blood wizard born in the year 1964 to a witch mother and muggle father. He grew up alongside his 2 sisters, but because they turned out to be Squibs, he inevitably became his mother's favourite (being that he was the only other MAGICAL family member). Lockhart was a clever, good-looking boy, and when he realized quite early on that he was magical it went straight to his head- inflating his already massive ego even further. In 1975, at the age of 11, Lockhart first stepped foot through the doors of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry to begin his wizarding education. However, Lockhart quickly realized that Hogwarts was not quite what he had expected. Upon stepping foot in the magical castle he was met with sheer disappointment- suddenly coming to the crushing realization that at a school for witches and wizards- he was just another magical young boy. In the muggle world, Gilderoy was exceptional, but here he didn't stand out, and that's all he ever longed for. How Did Narcissa Lie to Voldemort? - Harry Pott...
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort, and powerful mother to Draco- Narcissa Malfoy. Specifically, we're going to be taking a look at her actions following the alleged 'death' of Harry in the Deathly Hallows, and how one lie may have changed the future of the wizarding world. Let's get in to it. One of the most emotional and pivotal moments in the Harry Potter series is the death of the titular character himself- Harry. After cheating death time after time (in large part due to his mother's loving sacrifice), Harry finally faces the afterlife head on after meeting Voldemort in the forbidden forest and sacrificing himself. "He saw the mouth move and a flash of green light, and everything was gone." Unlike Harry's previous confrontations with Voldemort, from his meeting with a fragmented Voldemort possessing Professor Quirrell, to their duel in the graveyard of Little Hangleton – this time Harry did not intend to defend himself or fight back. He came to die. And with Harry's death came a lot of questions- for the reader, sure, but ESPECIALLY for the characters in the story. After being hit with Voldemort's killing curse, Harry wakes up in a sort of 'limbo' where he is met by Dumbledore. In this new environment, Harry learns that yes he has died...BUT he has an opportunity to come back. Harry is given an option to return to the land of the living because his mother's sacrifice - the same magic that has protected him for all his life - is still alive in Lord Voldemort's veins. This happens because Voldemort used Harry's blood when producing his 'regeneration potion' - a potion which restores a maimed wizard to their 'true' bodily form. Further tying Harry to the land of the living is the fact that Voldemort's killing curse destroyed the piece of VOLDEMORT'S SOUL attached to Harry, and not Harry's soul. Dumbledore confirms this by saying "Your soul is whole, and completely your own, Harry." But while the short period that Harry was 'dead' may have gone by quickly for Harry, it likely felt like an eternity for the loved ones that witnessed his dead body. While Harry was discussing life and death with Dumbledore, everyone else thought that it was the end for our protagonist.- This brings us to the moment in question- the scene in which Narcissa Malfoy inspects Harry's 'dead' body.
