Today we set out to talk about the truth behind whether or not Venezuela was in fact "Socialist." Instead, we stuck to a top that is very close to us- The fact that 80% of Millennials are reportedly "overwhelmed," and "Feel inadequate."

A small sense of gratitude for the amazing lives we all have. I was once begged for water in Africa, yet millennials are overwhelmed because they have to balance work, fitness, and social media accounts.

--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

Bernie lies again. Should Twitter or Facebook c...

Bernie Sanders is at it again, again. And again, also.

On twitter today, Bernie stated that Jeff Bezos' income is "$215 million per day." Okay, Jeff Bezos is in fact worth a lot of money, but does he actually make that much in income? A quick trip to your calculator would tell you that $215 million per day would equal $78 BILLION per year. Maybe that seems possible for the worlds richest person, but it isn't. It just plain isn't. Amazon's gross income in 2018 was $71 billion. So do you honestly think that after "cost of goods sold," they decided to pay Jeff Bezos $78 billion from their $71 billion gross?

This is simply what Bernie does. He takes the fact that Amazon's stock has moved up a decent amount in the last few days, determined the market value of Amazon, and then determined how much Jeff Bezos' 18% ownership increased in value over the last few days. By this logic, where were Bernie's tweets about how Bezos "lost" $1.6 billion per day last October? No where to be found because of course, that doesn't fit his agenda.

The bulk of Bezos' "worth" comes from his ownership of Amazon. This means that when you say he earned $X-amount, you're talking about the value he earned if he were to in fact sell all of his shares today. Something he hasn't done, meaning that he hasn't technically "earned" this money. If you own stock in any company, you've probably seen the value of your portfolio increase and decrease by substantial amounts over time. On a day where the market is up, does that mean you "earned" what ever the increase was that day? No, because you didn't sell your stocks.

There's one other market factor Senator B.S. isn't mentioning. Jeff Bezos' current value of stock might be $100 billion, but he would get no where close to that if he decided to sell his shares on the open market. This would flood the stock market with a supply of shares that it doesn't currently want, meaning the value of those shares would need to decrease to the point that enough people would want to buy his 18% worth of shares. In all actuality, that "$100 billion value" might only get him $50 billion by the time the selloff is finished. That's whats happening when the stock prices is crashing by the way- someone (or a lot of someones) are selling their shares. The market is flooded with supply, and the price drops to the amount that meets the current demand.

If you made it through this article you've learned more about the stock market and basic economics than the bulk of Sanders' followers have learned in their lives.

This is why we created "BernieLies.com"
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

NCAA reverses position, allowing college player...

Today we had an interesting discussion about the recent decision by the NCAA to allow players to make money from their name, image, and likeness. This is a massive decision from the body which brings in massive amounts of endorsement money from players, although not allowing those players to make money themselves.

Overall, we support this move, because you should be free to make money if someone is specifically giving money to use your name towards making profit. Nate and Charlie have a bit of a difference on the issue, which showed through on the podcast.

Nates dissent: I agree that they should be able to make money, but I don't want to ignore the part that the NCAA has to play in the ability for the players to make money. Did they not set up the system that makes the whole thing possible? Is this similar to a business risking and investing, and then the worker being able to demand all (or most) of the reward? I obviously want them to make the money, I'm just recognizing the fact that the NCAA does have an argument in wanting a portion of the income from endorsements. It's a complicated issue.

What will also be amazing to watch is the culture that develops between schools where some students are making millions of dollars per year from their endorsements, while other player (perhaps on. the same team), might be struggling to get by. Yes, that is the free market, I'm just acknowledging that this will be interesting to watch. Especially considering that many college students favor socialism. Let's see how socialist they are when they have the opportunity to make a million times more money than their friends.

Read more at www.goodmorningliberty.us

Grab a "Taxation is Theft" t-shirt on our merch shop

Tell your friends!
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

Today we talked about Clay Aiken's meltdown in front of a crowd of thousands at Politicon this weekend. The Immaturity, oh the immaturity.

We also spent a lot of time discussing Bernie Sanders' plan for a Universal Jobs Guarantee. It reminded us of this story from the great Economist Milton Friedman.

Economist Milton Friedman was once traveling overseas and spotted a construction site in which the workers were using shovels instead of more modern equipment like bulldozers. When his host responded that the goal was to increase the number of jobs in the construction industry, Friedman replied, “Then instead of shovels, why don’t you give them spoons and create even more jobs?”

Friedman hit the nail on the head. If your goal is more jobs in America, why not just get rid of all the tractors, combines, planters, and automobiles? Everyone will be guaranteed to have a job.

Of course, that would be a terrible idea. The goal would be for those jobs to add value in society. The problem with added Federal jobs is that the money to pay those positions must first be taken from productive sides of the economy. Thus, the job you "create" using tax money must add more value than the productive use that money would have had in the hands of it's original owner.

Facebook

Twitter

Merch Store

Website
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

Tax Receipts Would Have to Go Up by 124% to Pay...

Elizabeth Warren has a plan for everything. Some of those plans are expensive. With Warren emerging as a front-runner in the Democratic presidential contest, Yahoo Finance tallied the cost of her plans.

Altogether, the Massachusetts senator’s agenda would require $4.2 trillion per year in new federal spending, and a like amount in new taxes, if she paid for everything without issuing new debt. The federal government currently spends about $4.4 trillion per year, so Warren’s plans would nearly double federal spending.

The Treasury takes in about $3.4 trillion in tax revenue each year, so if Warren levied new taxes to pay for everything, federal taxation would rise by 124%. She could pay for some of her plans by issuing new debt instead of raising taxes, but with annual deficits close to $1 trillion already, that might be unwise.

- Read the rest of the article from Yahoo Finance

Visit BernieLies.com to read articles debunking the many fallacies of Democratic Socialism

Grab a "Taxation is Theft," "Shall Not Be Infringed," or "Free Snowden" shirt from our merch store!
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

His hair has got glitter in it. He’s wearing a dress.”

“Now imagine how you would feel seeing what I believe is actual sexual abuse — I believe this is not just emotional abuse but is the very, most fundamental form of sexual abuse, tampering with the sexual identity of a vulnerable boy,” the father continued.

As reported by The Daily Wire in November, court documents show that Younger’s son only dresses as a girl when he’s with his mother, who calls the boy by his trans name and has even enrolled James as “Luna” in school. According to Younger, however, James consistently chooses to wear boy’s clothes, “violently refuses to wear girl’s clothes at my home,” and identifies as a boy whenever he is around him.

James’ mother has accused Younger of child abuse in their divorce proceedings “for not affirming James as transgender” and is looking to strip the dad of his parental rights, reported The Federalist. Georgulas is also seeking to force Younger to foot the bill for James’ visits to a transgender-affirming therapist and transgender medical alterations, which may include “chemical castration” two years from now, when the child is just eight.

The father noted that, in his opinion, he witnessed that his wife “was only giving [James] love and affection when he was acting like a girl.” She used to lock James in his room and tell him monsters only eat boys, Younger added.

“Every. Single. Day. You have to see your son sexually abused, and you have to maintain your calm,” the Texas father continued, “because the courts are not going to be fair to you. And the only way you can survive this and get your son through this alive is to calmly allow your son to be tortured right before your eyes and outlast the opposition. That’s what it’s like.”

Visit www.goodmorningliberty.us

Grab a "Taxation is Theft" hoodie on our merch store.

--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support

No, Chick-Fil-A Wasn’t Behind Uganda’s New “Kil...
The first ever UK Chick-Fil-A was opened less than 2 weeks ago, and this weekend they announced they will be closing their doors amid backlash from the public. This comes at the same time as a tweet went viral stating that Chick-Fil-A essentially funded a preacher's trip to Uganda that helped them craft a law imprisoning homosexuals, and even sentencing them to death. It took a lot of digging, but by my research has me calling "Myth" on this one. Check out this article from truthorfiction.com - This website from what I can tell if fairly unbiased. If anything, they lean to the left. They rated this tweet "Decontextualized." Even the preacher Chick-Fil-A is said to have funded said himself that he did not support Uganda's law. And the craftily worded stories support that fact by saying sneakily that "Organizers of the conference" helped create Uganda's law. I don't know if you've ever seen a speaker at a conference, but various speakers are not typically people affiliated with said conference. The fact that you spoke somewhere, and then the group that asked you to speak later decided to do something bad, is not proof that you yourself did something bad. Charlie and I spoke at the Young American's for Liberty Conference last month in Detroit. If next month, YAL decides to help craft a Medicare for All law, is Good Morning Liberty guilty of crafting the Medicare for All law? The other organization that there is actual proof of receiving donations from Chick-Fil-A was "Exodus International." Exodus International did in fact send a board member to Uganda in 2009 that said homosexuality was "Evil" in a speech at the conference. Less than a year later, Exodus' president expressed remorse for being involved with the conference in Uganda, and stated that they did not support Uganda's harsh homosexuality law. In 2012, Exodus International disbanded. If Chick-Fil-A did in fact financially support the creation of Uganda's law, then I would boycott them myself. It should go without saying that this type of law does not fit within the teachings of Christianity in the first place, and it obviously doesn't belong in a free society. However, it seems like this is a lot of tactical article writing on the part of those looking to tear down an otherwise stellar chicken joint. Listen to the podcast for more! ~$27 Trillion Taxed and Spent Fighting the War ...

In 1964, the U.S., and President Lyndon B. Johnson declared war. No, not on Vietnam, not on the Middle East, but on "Poverty."

At that time, the rate of poverty in the United States was indeed higher than it is right now. The poverty rate was 17.3%, with nearly 39 million Americans living below the poverty threshold.

Since then, the U.S. has taxed and spent almost $27 trillion (2019) dollars fighting the "War on Poverty." That's money that was taken out of the production economy, and inserted in the consumption side of the economy. Many on the left would argue that this money was well spent. I've heard explanations like "Just imagine what the poverty rate would have been without that money spent." Afterall, it is true that the poverty rate is lower today than it was in 1964.

How much lower is the poverty rate?

The most recent data from the US Census Bureau shows that the current poverty rate is 12.3%, with nearly 40 million Americans living below the poverty threshold. Some might say "See? The rate is lower, therefore the War on Poverty has been a success." Those might also point to the fact that immediately following the implementation of the "war," the poverty rate fell from 17.3% in 1964, to 12.5% in 1974. My response to this assertion would be to look at the rate at which poverty had decreased in the 10 years previous to the war's implementation.

In the 10 years prior to the start of the war, the poverty rate dropped from 26% to 17.3%. That equals a fall of 8.7 real percentage points, or a 33% decline in the 10 years prior to implementation of the war. The rate of decline following implementation, when the rate fell from 17.3% to 12.5%, was 4.8 real points, or a 27% decline in the rate. This means that the rate of decline actually slowed immediately following the beginning of the war.

Today I want to imagine where our economy would be- had that money been left in the right hands.

First, it should be discussed what actually constitutes poverty. I'd be dishonest if I did not first admit that the standard of living today is far better than in 1964. In fact, one could make the argument that by 1964's standards, almost no one today is in poverty. Is that a consequence of government spending, or did it happen despite government spending?

Visit www.BernieLies.com if you want to read specifically about the many lies told by one of America's greatest manipulators.

Get your own "Bernie Lies" T-Shirt on our Etsy store.

In Liberty,

Charlie & Nate

P.S. Neil deGrasse Tyson Doesn't Like Libertarianism...
Today I ran through a few important news stories you might have missed throughout the week. I covered everything from the first all-female spacewalk, the massive teacher's strike in Chicago, Elon Musk being out of cash, and troubles facing the stock market. At the end of the show I spent a bit of time discussing Neil deGrasse Tyson's comments on the Ben Shapiro Show, when he was asked by Shapiro about Libertarianism. He said he can't be a Libertarian, because Libertarians are all about "I'm gonna get mine, you get yours..etc." Basically that Libertarianism is purely selfish, and does not look out for those in need in our society. I discussed why on a technical level this might be true, but on an emotional level we are truly believe that this philosophy is the best way to help the most amount of people. The free market has led to a standard of living that those 100 years ago couldn't have even imagined. Debate Night | Democrats Debate Which Candidate...

Last night I had the painstaking duty of listening to the entire Democratic Debate.

My key takeaway: We're all screwed. Just kidding, but seriously it was in fact downright terrifying.

Today on the podcast I brought in my favorite clips from the night. Most of the centered around Medicare For All, and the proposed Billionaire Tax on the nations most productive individuals.

Also, what's with Warren outright refusing to say the words "raise taxes on the middle class?" Does she really think people are that stupid? Everyone knows Medicare For All is going to require massive taxes on the entire country, not just the rich. She somehow thinks that if you simply hear her say those words, then she has no chance of getting elected. Just say it already! This is a great example of the manipulative nature of most politicians.

Let's dive into the ideology that says "Hate the Rich." This ideology has been a natural state of humanity for our entire existence. What can we do to stave of the massive encroachment of the Federal Government in our daily lives?

Listen to the podcast to get all the details!

Visit www.goodmorningliberty.us for more great articles on politics, economics, and Libertarian ideology.

Visit www.BernieLies.com if you want to read specifically about the many lies told by one of America's greatest manipulators.

Get your own "Bernie Lies" T-Shirt on our Etsy store.

In Liberty,

Charlie & Nate

P.S. "Back-Door Socialism" | Bernie Sanders Introduc...

Yesterday, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced legislation to nationalize all publicly traded companies, kind of. The plan actually calls for the SEC to demand that all companies issue new stock and give employees at least 20% ownership of the companies. In addition to that, the workers will get "right of first refusal" to buy the companies. If they don't have the money to buy the company, don't fret. Bernie wants to create a new bank whose sole purpose is to finance the buying of US corporations. What happens if the worker doesn't pay back the loan from the government? They'll seize ownership of the asset.

This creates numerous gross incentives in the business market. First, workers would naturally gravitate only towards corporations that are profitable, so they can earn dividends. Next, it will remove the risk from the market for creating businesses. Why? Because the government will always have a built in "bailout" for companies looking to sell out.

The other obvious consequence in the market is that the per share value of all companies will fall. If you issue 20% more new shares in a company, then all the exiting shares become less valuable. That's a less valuable retirement portfolio for anyone paying into a 401K, Pension, IRA, etc.

What does it mean to be an "owner" of a company? Since the workers are looking to share in the profits, will they also be willing to share the losses? After all, only 38% of publicly traded companies are profitable. I doubt they will be willing to pay a "negative dividend" if their company is losing money.

What incentive does this create in our society for innovation and risk? You would now be able to be a business owner, without ever having to create a business. Will this lead to more innovation, or less?

As usual, this is a completely crap proposal from BS. Rand Paul Tells 'The View' Hosts "I Promised No...
Over the weekend I came across a video from Rand Paul's appearance on The View. Rand fielded criticism of his support for Trump's decision to pull US Troops away from the Syrian border. We pulled several clips from the interview and offered up our comments on the rambling ignorance that is "The View." Can we talk about how crazy it is that we have a table of Liberals arguing with a Republican about how it's wrong for us to NOT be at war? It's clear people's opinions are mostly drawn from political biases, not from actual beliefs or principles. Not to mention the fact that now it seems like the Kurds have struck a deal with the Syrian government for protection, as they should have. It is not, and never has been, our job to police the entire world. Doing so it costly. Not just in money, but in over 6,000 American soldiers' lives. It's long past time for the governments on that side of the world to step up and get the job done. I'm pointing at you UK, Spain, France, Germany, etc. Visit www.goodmorningliberty.us for more great articles on politics, economics, and Libertarian ideology. Democrats Unload on Trump Over His "Dangerous" ...

Trump's decision to pull troops away from the Turkish border in Northern Syria has drawn massive amounts of criticism from both sides of the political isle. Is Trump the most Anti-War president we've had in my lifetime? Possibly.

Let's dissect the problem between the Kurds, and the Turkish government. They've been fighting each other for decades. It must be acknowledged that the Kurds have been our only consistent ally in the fight against terrorist groups in the Middle East. What we just did will in fact lead to their demise, more than likely.

We also have to acknowledge the fact that Turkey is a NATO ally. We can't fight Turkey, because that would technically open up the door for their allies to defend them. Who are their allies? Well, that's Canada, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, you get the idea. Maybe this is why George Washington warned against forming "entangling alliances?"

Regardless of the implications, it's not America's job to protect people in the Middle East. It isn't now, and it never has been. We've been the World Police for far too long. We've wasted trillions of dollars, and lost almost 7,000 troops in the region. It's time for another country to step up. Perhaps one of the countries that are on that side of the world? England is only a couple thousand miles away, compared to the US, who are over 10,000 miles away. It's time to bring the troops home. Not just from the border in Northern Syria, but from all of the battle fronts in the Middle East.

Tell your friends about the podcast. Bernie Lie #5,354 - "The Rich Pay a Lower Tax R...
Bernie Sanders is the king of manipulated statistics. He always has been, and he's only getting better at it. You can check the article Bernie was pointing to for his latest claim here. The article itself debunks its own title, of course, at the end of the article: |||On the question of tax burden, Jason Furman, an economics professor at Harvard who chaired the White House Council of Economic Advisers under President Barack Obama, noted that Saez and Zucman did not include refundable tax credits, such as the earned-income tax credit (EITC), in their analysis. The credit, which is intended to encourage low-income families to work, “is part of the tax code,” Furman said. A person who paid $1,000 in federal income taxes and then received a $1,500 credit would have a total federal tax burden of -$500, but Furman said that under Saez and Zucman’s analysis, that person would instead show a burden of $0. That result would make total tax burdens at the lower end of the income spectrum appear higher than they are. ||| On its face, it looks to be true. It even sounds true, worded in a perfect manner that would make the best tricksters envious. What's playing in its favor is that people want it to be true. It is however, very false. Read the entire article at this link. In Liberty, Charlie & Nate P.S. AOC Realizes She Forgot to Destroy the Entire E...
AOC is at it again, again. As if the Green New Deal wasn't destructive enough, AOC pinpointed a few portions of the economy she forgot to destroy in her first $90+ trillion bill. Now she wants to institute a national rent control. Capping rental increases at no more than 3% per year. Not only is this a bad idea, it's also been a terrible reality for those living under strict rent control in places like New York, and San Francisco. Regardless of the intentions, Rent Control is a price control. Setting caps on free market prices has always led to shortages. In this case, the shortage would be (and has been) in housing. Thats nothing to joke about. When we control prices charged for rent, you might feel as though that's helping the people that can't afford higher prices. In fact, like most government policies, it hurts the very people it aims to help. Rent control leads to a decreased investment in housing. Those who have money to invest, have choices in the areas in which they want to invest their hard-earned money. In a free market, they may decide that the financial benefit of building apartment complexes outweighs the potential risks. Regardless of the feelings you had in reading that statement, it's the truth of the situation. In a price controlled market, people with money will choose to invest elsewhere. Prices must always be free to fluctuate. In a market where you've basically only allowed the prices to fluctuate down, you're going to get less investment, and subsequently less available housing. Such as we've seen in the case of housing shortages in cities that have strict laws on rental prices. In addition to that, she wants to move the poverty line to take into account your ability to afford "neccessities" like high-speed internet. This would undoubtedly, and by design, move hundreds of thousands if not millions more into the "poverty" category. Creating a much greater need for more welfare spending, and of course, high taxes. Let's all take a moment to appreciate the fact that we live in a society so great, that not having access to high-speed internet can make you "impoverished." As if that wasn't all destructive enough, she wants to officially make welfare available for everyone, regardless of their immigration status. This might be a trivial question, but does math even matter anymore? Is there any consideration for the fact that we literally cannot afford to make government welfare available for everyone in the world? By saying that I mean, there has to be a line drawn somewhere, right? Apparently not. Forget the fact that we already don't have enough money to fund the current liabilities with Social Security and Medicare- that apparently does not matter either. Will we ever have a return to rationality in politics? What does it say for our education system- when an entire section of society thinks you can pay out 10 trillion dollars worth of benefits with 4 trillion dollars worth of income? Trump Says He has "Absolute Right" to Investiga...

President Trump said Thursday- "As the POTUS I have an absolute right, perhaps even a duty, to investigate, or have investigated, CORRUPTION, and that would include asking, or suggesting, other countries to help us out!"

Today on the show we discussed whether or not it is the duty of the President to investigate corruption. This led into a conversation about Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, and what the governments policy towards whistleblowers should be. Did the Freedom/Patriot Act go too far? Yes. Does it violate the 4th Amendment? Yes.

Listen to the podcast!

P.S. What is Liberty?

What is Liberty? It's a rather cliche word that we use all the time, but when asked, I don't think many could give their definition of the word. Today I offered up my definition. I hope this helps.

Liberty is YOU. It's everything that makes you a unique individual.

It's your- thoughts

words

actions

needs

wants

desires

aspirations

likes

dislikes

What you want to do in your life

Who you spend your life with

Who you worship

and who you don't

The important part to remember about "Liberty" is that it's you and everything that makes you, you. This liberty comes with a mutual understanding. Everyone else has that same liberty, too. Neither party may act in a way that impedes the other's ability to act on those things. Your liberty cannot not remove the liberties of another individual.

In shorter words: Your Liberty ends, where another's begins.

When we say we care about "Liberty." That's what we mean. That's why we're Libertarians.

P.S. Amazon is NOT a Monopoly.

Hey everyone!

First off, please subscribe to the show by clicking this link.

Today we talked about a conversation we had with a Democratic Socialist. In the conversation, this person asserted that Amazon is essentially a "monopoly." This is a common theme thrown about by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and unfortunately it's a theme that has stuck with those on the left and even some of those on the right.

What is a monopoly? Is it simply a large share of any given market? Or is it more complicated than that? For example, you might open the first tattoo shop in your small home town, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have a monopoly. Why? Because you aren't doing anything to keep other competitors from entering that market.

In that same light, can we simply state that Amazon is a monopoly? A quick dive into the figures will show you that they only constitute 49% of all online retail sales, and an even smaller number, 5%, of a retail sales in general. Can we seriously state that a business that only makes up 5% of a total market is obviously a monopoly? Seems like more political theater and demagoguery to me.

P.S.
