What is this common phenomenon? Those who put little thought into economics, and more thought into emotions, will say that price gouging is the raising of prices on necessities at a time when people need them the most. It can, on the outside, look as if sellers are "taking advantage" of people in need, at a time when they have no choice but to the buy the products at whatever price they are available. In fact, it might be true that some individual business owners are taking advantage of the ability to reap higher prices than normal on basic necessities. My emphasis, however, is going to be placed on the economic implications of these actions, and the end result they produce.</em></div> </div> </div> </div> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> <em> </em></div> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> <em>Back to that original headline; "<strong>$9 for a $4 case of water: Florida hit by price gouging ahead of Hurricane Dorian."</strong></em></div> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> <em> </em><em>What does it mean for a case of water to be worth $4? Most of us put little time into researching all of the expenses that go into the material cost of the case of water. In addition, we put little effort into finding out why that case has been deemed "worth" $4. The actual cost of the case to the store owner might have been $2.50. Why then, is it worth $4? It's a very simple answer: <strong>That's what people will pay for it.</strong></em></div> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> <em> </em><em>We put little thought into the fact that everything we use on a daily basis has been priced in a society-wide auction. You know how an auction works. The auctioneer holds up a product, and the public increases the price they are willing to pay for that product, until the top price is reached. It might not be obvious, but that same process has been used in every product we use on a daily basis. It hasn't happened on an individual level, but it has in fact happened. The Tax Cuts Were a Good Thing - We Need to Mak...

An amendment to make them permanent would be even better</span></span></h1> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> I've read a few articles lately about how the <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://taxfoundation.org/tax-cuts-and-jobs-act-explained/" target="_top" rel="noopener"><u class="sDZYg">"Tax Cuts and Jobs Act"</u></a> of 2017 isn't having the desired effect. First, I'd ague that they have had a great effect on the economy, but let's dissect why they aren't looking as good in action as they did on paper. </p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> The Trump tax cuts were a big win for big corporations, as well as a big win for all the small corporations that we seem to ignore. The corporate tax rate was reduced from 35% to 22.5%, equaling a reduction of roughly 33% in the tax rate owed by businesses. </p> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Republicans branded this tax cut as a major win for America. It was going to lead to higher wages, more jobs, and the repatriation of funds and operations back to the good ole U.S. of A. Since the enactment of this law, we've seen <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://www.marketwatch.com/story/fourth-quarter-gdp-growth-cut-to-22-from-26-2019-03-28" target="_top" rel="noopener"><u class="sDZYg">reports</u></a> of 3.9% business investment growth, but as we normally see afterwards, a revised number that sits around 3.1%. In addition to that, wages paid by companies seem to have shown little movement in the process. </p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <blockquote class= "_3jY04 _1J-OE _2XYO_ blog-post-quote-font blog-post-quote-color blog-quote-border-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> <div>To me, this logic is simple. If you want to actually see the effects that were advertised by Republican's in the passage of this law, the tax cuts have to be made permanent. </div> </blockquote> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Imagine you are the owner of a business. You run on roughly an 8% net profit margin yearly (<a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "http://www.aei.org/publication/the-public-thinks-the-average-company-makes-a-36-profit-margin-which-is-about-5x-too-high/" target="_top" rel="noopener"><u class="sDZYg">the average for a Fortune 500 company</u></a>), and now you've seen a 33% reduction in your corporate tax rate. You have a few options: Raise your employees wages, Re-invest money in future innovation, or take the profit and run, among other things. </p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> There's an issue with expecting businesses to raise their wages in response to these cuts; they are temporary. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I will make sure that they are well taken care of by way of increased taxation on the most productive in our society."</em></p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> An NPR host called the original poem the "American Ethos." Although she was referring to the original poem, her meaning was implied in my sarcastic revision.</p> <h2 class= "_3f-vr _208Ie blog-post-header-two-font blog-post-header-two-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> So what does the Statue of Liberty stand for?</h2> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> The <a class="_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty" target="_top" rel="noopener"><u class="sDZYg">Statue of Liberty</u></a> was a gift from the people of France (mostly) to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of our independence from Great Britain.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> I think the most important thing to note in the dedication of the statue was that it celebrated a time that we broke off from a tyrannical Kingdom that was taxing the people to death. "Taxation without representation" was one of the leading rally cries of the American colonies.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Another very important thing to remember is that at the time of the statues dedication, there was no income tax in America. There was no welfare system. Bernie Sanders' "Green New Deal" is full of eco...

Needless to say, the prosecution brought questionable evidence, and the convicted murderer spoke of his innocence until his final words.</p> <p>If the government is inefficient, corrupt, and all to powerful, should we still allow the death penalty? We try to answer this difficult question on the first half of the podcast.</p> <p><strong>Bernie Sanders' "Green New Deal"</strong></p> <p>Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders released his plan for a $16.3 trillion spending package dubbed the "Green New Deal," blatantly stealing the name of the massive plan laid out earlier in the year by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. </p> <p>I spent several hours running through this plan line by line today, and arrived at a pretty simple conclusion:</p> <p>If you care about the environment, if you care about the poor, if you care about innovation, or the economic stability of the country, then you must consider the argument that the government is the worst possible entity to accomplish those goals. </p> <p>Bernie's plan calls for a complete replacement of:</p> <ul> <li>The power grid</li> <li>all automobiles</li> <li>all school buses</li> <li>all shipping vehicles (semis)</li> <li>all gas stations</li> <li>and nearly all roads</li> </ul> <p>It also promises to create 20 million new "high-paying" jobs, and eliminate unemployment. In the elimination of unemployment, it suggests that the need for a welfare state will dissipate, since everyone will have a high paying job. Of course, that's a high-paying job paid for with tax dollars, something that will first have to be stolen from the economy. </p> <p>Let me be clear. It is probably a bad thing to remove carbon from the ground, and place it into the air. Im not refuting that suggestion, but I will question the idea that we are nearing a "climate catastrophe." I'll also question the idea that this is purely man-made (can we call sexism on that term?), and that anything the United States does can have any effect on the situation.</p> <p>This plan seizes control of the entire energy sector, and promises to remove "greed" from the equation by leaving all power to be supplied by publicly owned companies. If Bernie has a room full of angels waiting to take the reins, I suggest he disperse them elsewhere immediately. </p> <p>This comes down to one question: <strong>Who is more effective at innovation, and efficiency- private entities, or the government?</strong></p> <p>I could use the example of NASA vs. SpaceX. Through 60 years of innovation, NASA was able to get the cost of sending a satellite to space down to $600 million. To ad to that fact, they were producing new rockets with each launch. In 10 years, Elon Musk and SpaceX were able to reduce the cost of sending things into space down to $60 million. A tenth of the price if you don't have your calculator handy. In addition to that, they developed a way to fly the rockets back to the launch pad to save money. That wasn't enough.. They then produced a drone ship that would become a mobile landing pad for the rockets, since due to the arch of the launch and the rotation of the earth the rocket would be re-entering over water, and boat fuel is cheaper than rocket fuel. </p> <p>Think what you may about profit, but the motive for profit saves us money. Take into consideration the fact that in the Russians heyday, an automobile cost 3x as much to produce in the Soviet Union, even though profit was illegal. Remember, Henry Ford didn't invent the automobile. Here's Why the Tump Tax Cuts Might Not be Havin...
<p>Hey everyone!</p> <p> First off, please subscribe to the show by clicking this <a href= "https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/good-morning-liberty/id1312689810"> link. </a></p> <p>I've read a few articles lately about how the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" of 2017 isn't having the desired effect. First, I'd ague that they have had a great effect on the economy, but let's dissect why they aren't looking as good in action as they did on paper. </p> <p>The Trump tax cuts were a big win for big corporations, as well as a big win for all the small corporations that we seem to ignore. The corporate tax rate was reduced from 35% to 22.5%, equaling a reduction of roughly 33% in the tax rate owed by businesses. </p> <p>Republicans branded this tax cut as a major win for America. It was going to lead to higher wages, more jobs, and the repatriation of funds and operations back to the good ole U.S. of A. Since the enactment of this law, we've seen reports of 3.5% GDP growth, but as we normally see afterwards, a revised number that sits around 2.8%. In addition to that, wages paid by companies seem to have shown little movement in the process. </p> <p>To me, this logic is simple. If you want to actually see the effects that were advertised by Republican's in the passage of this law, the tax cuts have to be made permanent. </p> <p>Imagine you are the owner of a business. You run on roughly an 8% net profit margin yearly (the average for a Fortune 500 company), and now you've seen a 33% reduction in your corporate tax rate. You have a few options: Raise your employees wages, Re-invest money in future innovation, or take the profit and run, among other things. </p> <p>There's an issue with expecting businesses to raise their wages in response to these cuts; they are temporary. How many times have you expected your wage to go down after your company's profit margin decreased? Probably never. How many times have you expected your pay to go up if the profit margins increased? Probably always. </p> <p>What the big corporations did was a mixture of those previous three options from above. </p> <p>Many corporations did raise wages in response to the tax cuts. Walmart comes to mind, who raised their minimum wage to $11 an hour for all employees. The bulk of the increased compensation came from bonuses paid to employees. </p> <p>Why would a business opt for a bonus, instead of a raise in their employee's wages? </p> <p>Simple. Yes they have the money for the increased wages now, but they know the tax cuts aren't going to last, and we all know that employees aren't going to be okay with a reduction in their wages when future President Kamala Harris raises the corporate tax rate to 70%. Therefore, they give out a bonus, en lieu of a pay raise. </p> <p>In addition to the missed increase in wages, we've also seen less "repatriation" and less increases in business investment. </p> <p>Why wouldn't the corporations opt for more repatriation and more investment?</p> <p>Once again, the answer is simple. Contrary to popular opinion, people who run businesses are pretty smart. They hear the rhetoric spewed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Etc. </p> <p>It takes years to open a new facility, repatriate money, move plants, or any of the things people are waiting for them to do. If your time horizon is more than five years, would you trust that the business climate will be the same in five years as it is right now? No</p> <p>If you want these corporations to actually make investments in the U.S., to actually raise wages, or actually move their offshore accounts back to Bank of America, then you need to make the tax cuts permanent. Throughout history, neither of those ideologies have been beneficial for the ordinary individual. </p> <p>It's time for law enforcement in Portland, OR to step up and arrest these people. We fully support your right to protest, but if you are removing rights from others, then you need to be subjected to the full extend of the law. If government has one job, it's to make sure that we are all safe, and it's clear innocent bystanders in Portland are not safe. </p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>We also discussed our local high school back home in Illinois, and their decision to subject students to random drug screenings. </strong></span></p> <p>The administration of Vienna High School has announced plans to conduct randomized drug screenings on their student body. The plan will assign a number to each student, and randomly draw numbers throughout the year. Let me first say that we absolutely agree that teenagers should not be doing drugs, and we appreciate the intent behind this new policy. </p> <p>However, these drug screenings should not be mandatory. Meaning, the students' parents should have the right to opt their children out of the program. As of right now, "consent" will be considered as participation in extra-curricular activities, or driving your own vehicle to school. </p> <p>The implied consent by participation in extra-curricular activities is closer to agreeable in my book, being that it is your choice to join or not join those activities. On the contrast, implied consent by way of "you drive your car to school" is further out of bounds, considering the fact that you are faced to attend the school. Were this a private school implementing the policy, I would be 100% on board, since you chose to attend that school. </p> <p>There's a fine line being treaded with this policy. On one hand, it's morally defendable that this policy be included in your child's schooling, but on the other, it's removing your right as a parent to consent to your child being swabbed, or to their urine being collected by school officials. </p> <p>To me, it's not obvious that this policy will have the desired effect. When I was in high school, it was considered "cool" to break the rules. Any seemingly arbitrary rule was a target for rebellion among the students. Your "cool" points were likely to go up if you found ways around them, potentially leading to a higher social status. Sometimes, we broke rules that we would have not otherwise broken, if they weren't rules. </p> <p>I would be slightly worried of an adverse effect from this new policy. That is, the possibility that students will attempt to break this rule, when they might not otherwise have participated in the dangerous acts in the first place. </p> <p><strong>Responsibility</strong></p> <p>We talk a lot about responsibility on our podcast. In our eyes, the refusal to accept responsibility in all facets of life has lead to the societal situations we see playing out in politics right now. </p> <p>When do the responsibilities of the parents end, and the responsibilities of the schools begin? In my eyes, this is yet another attempt to remove parental responsibilities from parents, and place them on arbitrary rules set by government (the school). </p> <p>If I were a parent, I would sign a consent for if given the opportunity by my child's school. I wanted to talk about this in light of recent discussions on the poem used in front of the statue, and the idea that we are supposed to take care of people in need. </p> <p>Of course we are supposed to take care of people in need, but I think the government taking money from those who have it and giving it to those that don't is very different. Illinois is forcing high school seniors to appl...

Their population is rapidly decreasing, their taxes are rapidly increasing. Their pension is severely underfunded, and they're slowly but surely filling up federal prisons with former governors.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Of all the mistakes they routinely make, it's clear they always execute one thing properly: really terrible economic decisions. The new law that takes effect for the 2020-2021 school year fits right in with what seems to be an ongoing theme in Illinois- make prices artificially high.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://herald-review.com/news/local/education/new-law-signed-by-pritzker-in-decatur-requires-high-school/article_b2b80848-e74d-5495-bc08-8c67d0e1e8ad.html" target="_top" rel="noopener"><u class="sDZYg">new law</u></a> requiring high school seniors to fill out a <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa" target="_top" rel= "noopener"><u class="sDZYg">FAFSA</u></a> application before being allowed to graduate high school. That is, they are no required to apply for college financial aid to be able to graduate. Proponents of the law say that this is a great way to encourage students to pursue higher education after high school. My own opinion is that it's a way to encourage students to go into debt, and a great way to keep prices high on college tuition.</p> <h2 class= "_3f-vr _208Ie blog-post-header-two-font blog-post-header-two-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Why is this a bad thing?</h2> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> The other basic economic incentives this creates are also pretty cut and dry. The more money you make artificially available for a product, they higher price that product will have. Laws like this artificially increase demand, and they make use of money that would not otherwise be available in a free market. Hannity made De Blasio put Socialism on display...
<p>Last night New York Mayor Bill De Blasio did an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. There aren't many ways to describe it, other than this- It was absolutely disgusting. </p> <p>De Blasio defended his plans for gun control, higher taxes, "meatless Mondays," and battling climate change. </p> <p>Here are the notes from our podcast <a href= "https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/good-morning-liberty/id1312689810"> episode. </a></p> <p><strong>Gun Rights</strong></p> <p>It's pretty clear that De Blasio does not think you have a right to defend yourself. Hannity pressed him several times on that issue, and he had a tough time answering the question. What he did say is that you have a right to be "safe." </p> <p>What does it mean to have a right to be "safe?" </p> <p>This is absolutely no knock on law enforcement, but they rarely keep you safe from home invasions. Actually, it would be near impossible for them to do so. The simple question needs to be asked.. If someone breaks into your house, do you have the right to defend yourself? De Blasio's answer on this question is an obvious "no." </p> <p><strong>CEO Pay</strong></p> <p>The "left" often uses CEO pay when talking about the failures of our free market system.</p> <p>What is the point in making this comparison? "The CEO makes 1-2-400X more than the average worker."</p> <p>The point of this statement is to insinuate that people are struggling in todays society because of Greed. If the CEO wasn't making so much money, the workers at the company would be able to be paid more, right?</p> <p>Wrong. Let's take one of the most hated CEO's in the world, Doug McMillon (WALMART), for example. He makes $22 million per year. Workers at Walmart start out at $11 per hour. Walmart has 2.2 million employees. Each employee is paying $10 per year to the CEO. In hours? That's roughly $.01 per hour worked (at 25 hours per week on average).</p> <p>So what if we decide to pay the CEO the same as everyone else in the company? If they are all at $11 per hour, evening out the payment between everyone would raise their pay to...wait for it...$11.01 per hour. </p> <p>CEO pay is a non-issue, no matter how unfair it may seem. It is absolutely not a factor when discussing the pay of the average employees.</p> <p><strong>We need to go back to the 1950's tax rates</strong></p> <p>Ah, the good ole days. It is true that in the 1950's, the top marginal tax rate was 91%. That rate was on income above the $200,000 mark ($2 Million in todays money). </p> <p><a href= "https://taxfoundation.org/taxes-on-the-rich-1950s-not-high/">The catch? Only 10,000 households</a> qualified for that tax. In the 1950's, the effective tax rate was actually only 42%. Today it's 37%, with a MUCH lower marginal rate. Meaning that the top tax rate does not matter. Most of the rich are rich because they are smart. They'll find a way to get around it. They are smarter than the government, a low bar, indeed. </p> <p>The "rich" 1% are still paying nearly half of all the taxes in the US. Yes, even though they only account for 1% of the workers, they pay half the taxes. That number, by the way, has gone up- not down, since the lowering of the tax rates.</p> <p><strong>"You didn't build that."</strong></p> <p>Perhaps the most infuriating part of De Blasio's interview with Hannity came at the 16:00 mark, when he stated that the workers are the ones that created the wealth, not the business owner. </p> <p>This is pure socialism, and it's absolutely wrong. </p> <p>If you'd like, trace back the origins of any business. Did it start by 600,000 people banding together, pooling their resources, to form Amazon.com? No, it started with Jeff Bezos packing books into boxes on his floor in his house. </p> <p>The workers have a job because the owner started the business. Risked the capital. After suffering through 31 minutes of the interview, we pinpointed 9 grossly manipulative statistics commonly spewed by B.S.</p> <p><strong>1. "Healthcare is a yuman right"</strong></p> <p>People need proper healthcare, don't get us wrong. With that in mind, can you say that healthcare is a "right?" </p> <p>What does it mean to have a right to something? You have a right to life, right? But that only means that you have a right to not have that life taken from you by an outside actor. The right to life does not mean that you have the right to force a doctor to perform a service for you. You would think that the right to life would mean that you also have a right to food(considering 100% of the population would die without food). Do you have a right to food? No. Don't believe me? Try going into your local grocery store, filling up your cart, and then leaving. Better yet, go to your local farmers land, and pick any amount of food you need. Then leave. </p> <p>You have the right to not be killed, but you do not have the right to force a service provider to perform a service for you. It is a basic principle that you cannot have a "right" to someone else time. That's called slavery.</p> <p><strong>2. "Canada's healthcare costs are half as much as the United States"</strong></p> <p>It is true that their total "costs" reported per capita is half. But what is behind the costs that are reported? In the US it is common place to receive a bill for $25,000 from just the surgeon on a medical procedure. Who pays that $25k? No one. In reality, the hospital or the surgeon are going to write a large portion of that expense off. If it isn't written off, they must have received a payment from the insurance company, but the insurance has a "contractual adjustment" on that bill- meaning they don't pay the full amount. </p> <p>The problem? That $25k is the price used in Bernie's statistic. In reality, total out of pocket costs for healthcare in 2017 was $318 billion. Far less than the $3.5 trillion statistic used by do-gooder politicians. </p> <p>Healthcare is too expensive, but experience has shown us that US government is not the entity to resort to if you want to decrease the cost of something. </p> <p><strong>3. His fight is stifled because lobbyists for drug companies are spreading misinformation.</strong></p> <p>No. The bulk of people disagree with Bernie's plan because we all have access to a calculator on our phones. </p> <p><strong>4. Costs are up because of profit- last year the top 10 drug companies made $69 billion. </strong></p> <p>Blaming "profit" for higher costs is a long-time go to for socialists/marxists.</p> <p>"Bloodsuckers, vampires, plunderers of the people and profiteers who fatten on famine." Vladamir Lenin prior to killing upwards of one million "Kulaks" in 1920's Russia. </p> <p>The $69 billion in profit made by the drug companies sounds like a lot of money, and it is, but it is absolutely nothing in relation to the cost of healthcare. If you were going to use the $3.5 trillion number used by Bernie sanders, then the profit of the drug companies represents .00001 of the cost in healthcare. 1/10,000th of the cost. Literally Elizabeth Warren is more Native American than drug companies' profit is a portion of healthcare costs. That's $197 for each person in the US last year. People are not struggling because the drug companies made $197 in profit from their drugs. In relation, you probably pay $130 per year just for Netflix. </p> <p><strong>5. The Gender Pay Gap Myth | We separate fact from...

She went on to state the statistic that we've all heard before, and that we've likely seen discredited several times. "Women are paid $.80 on the dollar. Black women $.61, Native American women $.58, Latina women $.53. These are common statistics used by many on the left to show that discrimination by men is alive and well in the United States. The only problem is - they are completely misrepresented statistics.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Let me be clear, I am not arguing that on the whole women are making the same money as men. In fact, if you look at those numbers speaking on total earnings by men, and total earnings by women, they are probably true. The problem is that those statistics are being used by politicians to make the case that men are still dominantly discriminating against their female counterparts. In truth, that isn't what those statistics show at all.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> What those statistics show is that when one gender tends to gravitate towards lower paying fields, that gender will be correctly represented as making a lower amount of money. That statement my be inconvenient, but it is not evidence that our society is a male dominated discriminatory patriarchy. It <em>is</em> evidence that if more women go into lower paying fields such as teaching or social work, and more men go into fields like Information Technology or Engineering, men are likely to have higher average earnings.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <h3 class= "_3tkn1 _208Ie blog-post-header-three-font blog-post-header-three-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Differences in career choices</h3> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> To take an honest look at whether or not discrimination is a remaining factor, we must first separate the variables in the equation. One of those variables is career choice. It is not enough to simply say "women make less than men" without considering the different occupations each of the respective genders gravitate towards. Would it make sense to say that "Social Workers make less than Chemical Engineers, therefore we have evidence that there is rampant gender discrimination in the US..?" No, it sure wouldn't, yet that's what politicians are basically saying. The twins died shortly after birth with drugs in their system.</p> <p>This story highlights the subjective principles in the abortion debate. Tennessee has a law superseding the US Supreme Court when defining "fetus viability." TN defining at 23 weeks, and the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade defining viability at 26 weeks. </p> <p>In addition to the legal standards, we have the moral principle in killing an unborn child. Rand Paul and Mike Lee were right to delay the ...
<p>Yesterday Rand Paul and Mike Lee forced a bill delay on the <a href= "https://www.washingtonpost.com/?utm_term=.d354189bc9f3">9/11 First Responders bill</a>. This bill allowed an unlimited amount of funding for 9/11 first responders and their families for the next 72 years. </p> <p>The media, left wing, and right wing, have portrayed this as a blocking of the bill. They have portrayed this as stopping money from going out to the responders themselves.</p> <p>The Problem?</p> <p>That isn't true at all. What Rand Paul did, as he did with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, was force a vote on and amendment adding something called a "Pay For" into the bill. </p> <p>What most people don't know is that originally, there was something called a "Pay-Go" provision in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. That meant that the next step following the tax cuts was to cut spending in the budget to meet a potential reduction in income. </p> <p>Speaking of a reduction in income, the tax revenue as a percentage of the Federal tax receipts <a href= "https://fredblog.stlouisfed.org/2018/06/movement-of-the-federal-tax-receipt-front/?utm_source=series_page&utm_medium=related_content&utm_term=related_resources&utm_campaign=fredblog"> has increased</a> since the passage of the tax cut. That's right, they cut taxes and are taking in more money. </p> <p>Rand Paul himself said in an interview with Neil Cavuto, that the 9/11 bill will still come to a vote next week, and it will pass. All he asked was to add an amendment to the bill saying that the money needed to come from another part of the Governments +$4,200,000,000,000 budget. </p> <p>He named ceasing funding for a study that is studying the sex habits of Japanese Quail while high on cocaine. Regardless of what has been played in the news, I do not believe that Republicans are against illegal immigration because they inherently hate brown people. </p> <p>My firm belief is that it is the Income Tax that is the major hold up for a viable solution on immigration. Several politicians, including Senator Bernie Sanders, have proposed plans to "cancel" student debt, and make all college tuition free.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> There are a couple things we need to get out of the way. First off, the government has been involved in the subsidization of student loans since 1958, with the passage of the <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_loans_in_the_United_States#cite_note-43" target="_top" rel="noopener">National Defense Education Act</a>. At that time, the governments involvement was limited to college degrees including science, technology, math, or engineering. It should come as no surprise that it only took 7 years for the feds to decide they needed more than just control over the STEM fields.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> In 1965, they passed the <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_loans_in_the_United_States#cite_note-43" target="_top" rel="noopener">Higher Education Act.</a> The stated goal of the HEA was to promote "greater social mobility". The HEA has been the doorway to the federal government's full involvement in college education. At that time, they were able to start subsidizing or guaranteeing <strong><em>all</em></strong> student loans.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> The cost of college began to rise with the involvement of government subsidies, as we've seen in most other industries (look at a graph of medical costs following the passage of Medicare). As you would read in <em>Basic Economics</em> by Thomas Sowell, the artificial demand created by government stimulus resulted in a shortage of supply, leading to higher prices. Your high school economics lessons will teach you that creating a virtually unlimited demand will cause higher prices 100% of the time.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _2Dym_ blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _2R0Lu _2Dym_"> Although the cost of degrees were already on the rise, the greatest acceleration happened in 2010, when the government completely took over the student loan process with the <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color _3sz0l" href= "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_loans_in_the_United_States#cite_note-43" target="_top" rel="noopener">Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act</a>. That title definitely hits the top 10 most "Ironic Congressional Act" titles in my book. It's right up the with the "Affordable Care Act," and "No Child Left Behind." Up to this point, private institutions were still involved in the lending process, but all loans given by private lenders were guaranteed by the US Government. Amazon Prime Day shows the beauty of Capitalism...
<p>It's that time of year again. It's Amazon Prime Day. As a Free-Market Capitalist, you have to rejoice in the fact that this day exists. </p> <p>You can literally buy everything you need on Amazon, and have it delivered to your house in two days. Sometimes, you can have it delivered in as little as two hours. </p> <p>We have to sit back and ask the question, "Why does this exist?" Well, put simply, it exists because someone wanted to make money. Maybe that sounds selfish or greedy, but that's only if you have a negative view of money, itself. </p> <p>Money, as always, is a representation of value that you have provided to others. In a free-market system, that is. If you pay $1 for a cup of coffee, it is only because you value that cup of coffee more than you valued the dollar. On the flip side, the vendor only sold you the coffee because they valued the dollar more than they valued the coffee. As simple as it is, that small example works for all things in a free-market economy. </p> <p>If you hold the above view of money, then you are less likely to look down upon the desire to make money by starting your own business. As long as you are operating in a free economy, you would only be able to make money by providing products or services that the population value. If it wasn't deemed valuable, you would never make the money. </p> <p>So now we arrive back at the fact that someone started Amazon to make money. Good! </p> <p>As a study on the effects of Walmart found, the average American family saves over $2,500 per year simply because Walmart exists, whether they shop at Walmart or not. How? All of the competing retailers and grocery stores must find ways to lower their costs/prices so they remain competitive with Walmart for your business. </p> <p>We see the same thing with Amazon. In our podcast episode, we detail out the amazing fact that today and tomorrow, not only do you have the option to shop at a large discount at Amazon, but Target and Walmart are both running massive online sales to compete with Amazon for your business. This means that Amazon is saving you money, even if you don't have a Prime membership, or shop at Amazon.com for any of your goods. </p> <p>That's the amazing part about Capitalism and the Free-Market. No government issued an order today stating that Amazon must lower their prices, and no regulative body issued an order stating that Walmart and Target must lower their prices to match Amazon. That's the power of a free and competitive market. </p> <p>So who wins in this scenario? Well certainly Jeff Bezos and thousands of other Amazon investors, but also the hundreds of millions of people that use Amazon, Walmart, and Target. The economy as a whole wins because the opportunity to allocate dollars to more efficient uses has now presented itself. </p> <p>The rest of the beauty? You don't have to shop at Amazon today, or tomorrow. You can spend more elsewhere, make your own products, or buy from a local vendor. Amazon is not forcing you to use their services. We'll discuss our libertarian conundrum on this one.</p> <p>Also, how about regulating cryptocurrencies? Has the government shown that it should be trusted to regulate financial industries? What about the $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities currently weighing on our currency?</p> <p>Social media companies are treating conservatives unfairly, that's obvious. But do you want the US government in control of those companies or their content? What about when there's a democrat in charge? Seems dangerous..</p> <p>The CBO released it's study on the minimum wage, and it wasn't good. Unless you're a liberal, in that case, it was great. Is it okay to trade a 5% gain in "Real family income" for 1.3 million people losing their jobs? We planned on talking about the CBO's study on the minimum wage, but we deviated into a conversation about the reality of corporate welfare. </p> <p>Let me ask you this. If taxation is theft, why would you propose a problems "solution" is to make sure someone is paying more taxes? </p> <p>If a thief is making their way through your neighborhood, taking $1,000 from each house, and your next door neighbor makes a deal for only $500 to be stolen, who is in the wrong? Would you suggest that this is "unfair?" Of course it is- but which party is responsible? You've seen this flag before. Any time I see this one I think of Mel Gibson waving the flag after taking the battlefield at the end of "The Patriot." That scene sticks out in my mind because it's also how I see myself every time I release one of these articles.</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _3_7DB blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _158eo _3_7DB">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _3_7DB blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _158eo _3_7DB"> The <a class="_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color y_1_u" href= "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy_Ross_flag" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Betsy Ross flag</a> was the original flag of the U.S.A. It featured the usual 13 stripes, but had a circle of 13 stars in the corner, both of which represented the original 13 colonies of America. This nearly forgotten antique flag was brought into the spotlight after Collin Kaepernick persuaded Nike to drop their "racist" design before bringing them to market in time for July 4th celebrations across the country. <p>I pledge allegiance to the Republican Party.. Oh wait, that's not it.. </p> <p>Today we talk about Justin Amash and his recent announcement. Mainly we'll discuss some of the insane comments we've seen made by Republicans, and yes, even President Trump. </p> <p>If your number one goal is to protect the constitution and to further individual liberty, how is it a good thing that Amash is no longer a part of your party? He happens to hold a 100% rating from FreedomWorks, and a 94% on the Freedom Index when it comes to voting in accordance with the US Constitution. This puts him well above most Republicans, but maybe that's not what a Republican is anymore. It seems that they are more concerned with allegiance to the party and the President than allegiance to the Constitution. </p> <p>We'll also take on the controversy surrounding NIKE and their recent decision to ban the "Betsy Ross" flag from their shoe designs. Citing "racism" and "slavery" as the reasons for this decision. </p> <p>What about all the other countries that held slaves in that time period? <p>This is a short history of the "Kulaks." A "Kulak" was the name for a wealthy peasant in 1920's Russia. They were the farmers. Even having an acre or two more, or one more cow, would get you the label of Kulak. When times were rough, Lenin and Stalin pointed the masses to the Kulaks as the reason for all their suffrage.</p> <p>What happened next was the inevitable ending of class warfare. It is the implied logical conclusion that comes from pointing at one class and saying that they are to blame for your problems.</p> <p>Almost a million Kulaks were murdered. Here's how insane this ideology is- The Kulaks were the ones that knew how to grow food. Rich, poor, white, black- it doesn't matter. Everyone above the age of 18 will receive this "Freedom Dividend."</p> <div class= "XzvDs _208Ie _3_7DB blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _158eo _3_7DB">  </div> <p class= "XzvDs _208Ie _3_7DB blog-post-text-font blog-post-text-color _2p1aK _158eo _3_7DB"> The US Government currently spends <a class= "_2qJYG blog-link-hashtag-color y_1_u" href= "https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/01/12/no-we-dont-spend-1-" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$668 billion</a> per year on welfare programs. Remember, "welfare" is just one portion of the social safety net. 028: Without Corporations, We All Would Die
<p>It’s been another long 2 weeks since we last spoke and there has been a ton of news! Thanks for coming back to listen to our take on this crazy disaster called American politics.</p> <p>We started with a local story right here from Nashville, TN. Our very own HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) really stepped in it this time. Apparently they were given 1 million dollars in taxpayer money that had been laid out to support poor areas of town. The click-bait headline reads that they used that 1 million on office furniture. Does everyone assume that they weren’t going to buy office furniture until Nashville gave them the money? Point is, that was a fixed cost for the building. And of course no one cares that they spent 10 million of their own money to rebuild the infrastructure for the area!</p> <p>Seattle is doing what they do best; removing reasons to ever become productive. They have passed a “per-head” tax on any business that grosses more than 20 million a year. That right, “gross” not “net.” Even if you gross 20 million and your expenses are $19,999,999, you still owe the government their extra money! For each employee you have to pay an additional $300 tax. I say additional because employers already pay taxes for each employee. On May 1st, Nashville will be voting on a mass transit plan that promises to fix the crippling gridlock that’s plagued its citizens for the last several years. Yes you heard it right, government thinks it’s the answer to fixing gridlock. All they need is more money, and they can for sure fix the problem. Assuming they are the first government in history to come in within the budget and on time, it should only cost about $9 billion and be finished by 2032.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p> <p>We brought on a very special guest to help us understand the plan in more detail. 025: Congress Finally Declares War... On Facebook
<p>Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, was grilled this week by Senate and Congressional hearings regarding Facebook's "failure" to not safeguard Cambridge Analytica from selling 87 million user's data to 3rd parties. Somehow, this has become Zuckerberg's obligation and fault. We will say that he has this obligation, but only because of the users of Facebook want their data protected, not because it should be government mandated. The market has already moved against Facebook, including Ellon Musk deleting all of its Facebook accounts. There's not some magic law or fine that will keep this from happening. Hitting Facebook in the pocketbook will keep this from happening and it's already proven to be true before the hearings were even scheduled.</p> <p>Every time I typed out these show notes, I feel like I'm always having to tell President Trump to stay off of Twitter. It really has been a circus since he has taken office as far as his tweets go. The latest we talk about, being bombing Syria and threatening Russia that they can't shoot down the missiles because they're "smart." He literally put "smart" in quotation marks, like I just did!</p> <p>The United States has 0 business being involved with Syria, or bombing them, even if it were true that Assad used Chemical Weapons. There is no truth to that, but this war has nothing to do with America's security and Liberty. Our Republic is not being threatened by Assad, so there's no reason for us to go to war. 024: March For Our Lives...From Spending
<p>In lighter news, in today's show, Stormy Daniels defied her agreement with President Trump and told her story on 60 Minutes. I'm not sure why that's even news, but to each their own, we guess. Apparently, the Donald, or as we like to call him, Tariff Daddy, was reading and talking about himself when he made the cover of Time Magazine, and she took that magazine and spanked him with it. This was 11 years ago. Did anyone think that Trump wasn't going to cheat on his 4th wife. Or 8th wife - I'm not sure; I lost count.</p> <p>Hundreds of thousands of kids took to the streets in protest, in what they called the "March for our Lives" this past weekend. Where did they come up with that name? How original is that? Oh yeah, there's already a protest called "March for Life." Real clever, teenagers. It must have taken your parents a long time to come up with that one.</p> <p>Is anyone taking these kids seriously besides the left spun media? Are we really trying to listen to the same teenagers that were eating laundry detergent a mere 3 weeks ago? The Tide Pod eating craze was so popular, it forced Democrats to advocate for laws trying to compel companies not to make laundry detergent so appetizing. Seriously. And we are supposed to listen to them about policy and the natural right to protect yourself?</p> <p>Your "Republican" President signed a $1.3 Trillion spending plan on Friday. Sounds real conservative. Charlie gets heated in this discussion. In fact, Jon calls him Rush Limbaugh at the end because the rant was fire! How is it, that "conservatives" in power pass the second largest spending bill in United States history? And the President has the gall to say, "I'm never signing another bill like this." Then why did you sign that one!? I'll never understand that logic. Oh, and we will have to make another episode about abortion and Planned Parenthood, but in case you didn't know, yes, it still received it's $500 million in funding from the Federal Government. <p>Another Libertarian show talking about drugs... Except this one is different! It's time to have a real conversation about drugs. Drugs are bad. Heroine destroys lives. The opioid crisis is real. Trump and his administration's plan is horrible. Here's why.</p> <p>In a speech, President Trump talked about being tough of drug dealers and drug traffickers. In fact, he called for the death penalty. Now, whatever your feelings are about drugs or this black market business, calling for the death penalty doesn't solve this problem. What is this? 1400 England? Do we have a king shouting, "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD?" </p> <p>The fact remains, prohibition doesn't work. It never has and it never will. Building walls, locking people up, and instituting a death penalty, will not curb the issue that we see. History proves that prohibition didn't work with alcohol, and the last 50 years proves that the drug war hasn't worked either.</p> <p>What do we do about the violence, drug overdoses, and the $340 billion dollar black market of illicit drugs? Believe it or not, legalize them! Just because something is legal doesn't mean you have to do it. Plus, don't you own yourself? <p>Jon made the ultimate libertarian mistake last episode and talked about the Federal Reserve being a for profit corporation like profit was a bad thing. But have no fear! Mistakes allow you to expand on your intent and it brings you the newest episode on why profit is a good thing.</p> <p>First things first, what is profit? What is money? Well, money is just a representation of value to trade with others. Profit is trading to get excess value to trade for additional things that are needed or wanted. We get in depth on basic economic principles of money and the profit motive.</p> <p>The profit motive is what drive efficiency an innovation. The greatest things in life have come from people looking for ways to make life better, easier, and more comfortable all due to wanting to make profit.</p> <p>Milton Friedman said, "It's always the other fellow whose greedy. It's never any of us." Whether or not you are a business owner, everyone tries to make as much money as possible for the least amount of work. When you interview for a job, you want the highest salary possible.</p> <p>Apple, Uber, Ford, Space X, Facebook and Amazon are just a few companies that have given us examples of how profit has improved everyone's lives. <p>Those that don't know history are destined to repeat it. Several have said this, but I believe this specific quote comes from Edmund Burke. It's a powerful statement, really. How quickly can humankind forget events that have so negatively impacted them? This phenomenon spans many issues, but in today's episode, we discuss some more gun debate and we are high on tariff watch.</p> <p>President Donald Trump has announced on social media and other outlets, that a steel and aluminum tariff are coming. This is part of his America First agenda. Really, it's a way to stir up his base. However, this doesn't put America First. It only benefits a very minute sector of American industries and could be costly to every other American. As I mentioned before about history, one only has to look to the 1930's to understand why tariff's like this are an atrocity. That time period was the last time that America exported more than it imported. It wasn't a good time. Don't be fooled. Listen in and hear why this is bad news for everyone.</p> <p>We hated to do this, but a gentleman we really admire on the show, and listen to his show all the time, the Jason Stapleton Program, has gone back and forth with a listener about some different gun control measures. Shockingly, we didn't agree with what Jason had to say in regards to a position he was defending. Jason defends a stance that guns can be taken away from you in a restraining order type process, if your mom or relative petitions the court, before due process has taken place. We explain what constitutes due process as well as not wanting to give an inch to the gun grabbers. <p>It wasn't that long ago that the Bundy's and a bunch of ranchers in Nevada held off federal agents in a standoff. An overreaching, tyrannical branch of the federal government, the BLM, was deterred from trying to achieve theft of property by citizens with guns. This is why the 2nd amendment exists. </p> <p>The constitution is nothing new. A light bulb didn't go off in the founders' heads, and they drafted the constitution. It comes from over 600 years of experience of dealing with tyranny and oppressiveness. The shooting in Parkland, Florida, was nothing but tragic. How did we get here? What's the answer? We discuss some possibilities surrounding the surge in school shootings over the last 20 years. Just a hint: there are no easy solutions.</p> <p>We know gun control won't work. There are over 300 million guns in America, and confiscation of those weapons would be impossible. Background checks are already required. It's already against the law for violent criminals to purchase or possess a gun. What can lawmakers do?</p> <p>As libertarians, we believe first and foremost in liberty and freedom. Above all, those principles are natural rights. That doesn't mean you can't be pro-life and pro-gun. Those two things can exist. This is a discussion you won't hear anywhere else, especially in the libertarian or conservative realms. This is the last thing we need. 014: Maybe the Government of Hawaii needs a Bor...
<p style="text-align: left;">If you needed more reasons to not trust the government, just ask the people of Hawaii about the emergency warning that a ballistic missle was headed their way and to seek shelter. Apparently it was an accident and it only took them 38 minutes to send the all clear signal. Only...</p> <p style="text-align: left;">What are your thoughts on a border wall? Is it necessary? We discuss if it's a good or bad thing, the cost, and if it should go up. Although there are probably wiser things to spend money on, we talk about why immigration wouldn't be so bad if we fixed the actual problem. The welfare state. I think Trump will probably get what he wants. Or the government will shut down. That sounds like a win to us!</p> <p style="text-align: left;">What was immigration like before 1914? Well, we will tell you! Someone tweeted about Trump's grandpa, Fredrick Trump, immigrating when he was 16 years old, and we explain why it is different than today's immigration.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">Apparantly Carrier is supposed to be in the business of getting people out of bad marriages. At least that's what some on the left would have you believe. Trump made the mistake of taking credit for Carrier staying in the US for a year, but they are going to go ahead and shut down that Carrier plant in Indiania. Those that work there and voted for Trump are now regretting their decision. 013: Redneck-enomics and poo-hole countries.
<p>Why does it always have to be the right versus the left? In this week's Trolling with Nate, Twitter users respond to the House GOP's announcement of how many bills it passed committee and sent to the Senate. We won't even ask the question of why they passed so many, or why there's a need to put on display that over 400 bills made it out of committee. Nate responds to someone in particular whom shouted that not one bill benefited the poor or middle class. The reading is dramatic! Somehow some people think that the rich don't pay any taxes...</p> <p>Trump can't stop giving the media exactly what it wants. More fuel to try and demean his character. Allegedly, Senator Dick Durbin said, that President Trump referred to Haiti and other African countries as sh*thole countries. Is he wrong? This leads us into an immigration discussion you won't find on Facebook.</p> <p>The House of Representatives has passed the extension of the FISA Act, which allows the government to continue to spy on Americans. This sounds like freedom and liberty... not! We do have some hope, as Rand Paul has mentioned that he will filibuster, and Trump tweeted negatively about it. Maybe Trump won't sign the bill if it makes it out of the Senate! Edward Snowden, the genius that told the American people of our government spying, mentions that if you don't care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say.</p> <p>Do you know what a stock buyback is? We break it down in simple numbers for you. Everyone benefits from this. Well, at least everyone that has some sort of retirement. We discuss the non-aggression principle, how it applies, and whether or not a preemptive strike is a good idea.</p> <p> A new segment is upon us! Trolling with Nate! Each week, we will have a dramatic reading of Nate's passive aggressiveness on Twitter as he tries to get people to engage in conversation and teach them all about Liberty. We discuss another Twitter battle about Wal-Mart's wages and the fight for $15.
