Moving Back to Your Home Country (#73)
A situation which is occurring more and more in the various expat countries, especially in Asia, is that people are coming up to retirement age and have to move back to their home country or to another country of residence. The place they have called home for three to four decades will no longer allow them to remain as residents, unless they obtain an “investor visa” or “family visa” from their children. We know families that planned their retirement home and built it or bought a house many years ago in preparation for this moment. However is it still a distressing, emotional time for many people even if they have planned the move years in advance. We discuss this situation that is arising for our friends and families more and more often and how to alleviate the distress or decluttering and packing for the move. We'll follow up on this episode with specific things to consider outside of just your possessions, such as bank accounts and deposits. If you love what you heard and found it useful, we would be grateful if you could leave a review! Decluttering for Newlyweds (#72)
When getting married, couples often worry about the wedding ceremony, the party, the guests, the gift registry, the (dreaded) in-laws, and of course marrying that special someone, but often the moving into a home aspect of post wedding is rarely planned or even considered. You are not just starting a new life, you are merging your stuff with another persons stuff into one space – whether that be a whole new house or a room within the family home. There will be duplicates, items that are not liked by the other half and worst of all …not enough wardrobe space! We discuss this newlywed clutter situation in this new podcast produced by Amaeya Creative. You can follow Decluttr Me on social media: [Instagram](https://instargam.com/decluttrme), [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/decluttrme) & [Twitter](https://twitter.com/decluttrme)Leave a review on [Apple Podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/decluttr-me/id1366882784).ThanksShelina

The Blame Game (#69)
Often I have potential clients call me to discuss the clutter problem in their home. Whilst discussing the clutter, they will often tell me that it is due to their spouse, child or maid. Sometimes it is true, but often it is various members of the family assisting with accumulating with the clutter. I often find once I am in the house that there are various factors that have resulted in the clutter accumulating (and often it is not the blamed parties fault). The blame game is strong in a lot of households, and there is a need to shift the negative blame out of the house. In this new podcast we discuss how to stop the game and start the decluttering process. Repeat Clutter (#68)
Have you decluttered your home and office, labelled boxes and areas, and then find after a few days or weeks that things are shoved back into those areas randomly? I affectionately call this Repeat Clutter. Sometimes when returning to clients homes and offices, I find items in random places and thrown into labelled cupboards. It is frustrating especially as I have labelled the areas and boxes to make it easier for the client to build the habit to put items in the correct place. In this new podcast, I talk about this phenomenon of repeat clutter and what can be done to prevent it happening moving forward. As the summer months generally are a quieter time of the year, it is a great time to clear up the digital clutter in your life. There are many forms of digital clutter that may have to be cleared up in your life including emails, documents, photos, etc, but one that is bothering me a lot currently is the Linkedin clutter. Many of us use Linkedin to build connections, get more business and to network. Don’t Buy those Storage Containers Just Yet (#63)
Today we are talking about storage boxes and other storage material! I love storage boxes. I have many types in my house and repertoire ready to use with my clients when we are organising their home. Put a little label on top and you are organised for life, or until you move home (or don't maintain the system, but that's a different blog). There is a time and place to use storage boxes. A space may look amazing in a photo with many jars and boxes, but if it is not functional for your day to day life, then there is no point having so many of them. I always suggest to clients and followers that they should start with the decluttering and organising of the space, before buying the material. I carry material with me to sessions, but they won't come out we have decluttered first. In this new podcast we will talk about:* When to buy storage boxes and materials.* Which material is suitable for which area. * The process before buying and using a storage box.* Different uses for material that you may have in your house. To listen to my podcast, produced by Amaeya Creative, click on play now.We would love it if you would leave your review of the DeCluttr Me podcast channel on your favourite player. Mini-Decluttering (#60)
We hear about many concepts and ideas in the decluttering and organising world. Some are a bit far fetched, some are just packaged into a social media friendly/viral way, and others are similar concepts to what us organisers use already, but are called something different. Chirag recently mentioned a concept called Micro Actions, which was coined by Tammy Strobel in her book You Can Buy Happiness (and it's Cheap): How One Woman Radically Simplified Her Life and How You Can Too. I have called this concept mini- decluttering for many years - same concepts, but different terms! Whatever its name, it is a great way to help people to start decluttering without feeling overwhelmed. What is mini-decluttering or micro-actions, you may be asking? Well click play and let us explain what we mean by mini-decluttering and how you can start doing it right now (you only need five minutes!)We would love it if you would leave your review of the DeCluttr Me podcast channel on your favourite player. The Best Way to Declutter and Organise Toys (#59)
Toys seem to be a huge clutter problem in households nowadays. There are so many toys out there to buy and give as presents, and there never seems to be enough time to declutter some of the old ones from the house. Seeing these toys pile up in the lounge, playroom and bedroom has made a lot of my clients and followers feel anxious and overwhelmed. To help remove this clutter cloud hanging over their heads, I thought now would be a good time to discuss the best way to declutter and organise toys before the school holidays. * When is the best time to declutter the toys;* How to start the declutter process;* Separating the toys to leave your house;* Dealing with the tears of losing the toys;* Organising the toys that are left;* Showing your children and household how to maintain the systems. If you need help to declutter and organise the toys, contact me by completing the form at decluttrme.com.If you would like to know more about decluttering and organising with Decluttr Me head over to www.decluttrme.com.You can find DeCluttr Me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin - just type in @decluttrme.Thanks again for listening!

Preparing for your Exams (#58)
It's that time of the year when parents stress about their kids, and the kids sit sullenly at their desks trying to remember formulas (that you will most likely never use once you're an adult) and important chapters from a Charles Dickens novel. Or maybe that was how I remember the exam period! It's a tough period and even tougher if you are not organised and prepared to study and then take your exam. To help you get prepared, Chirag and I discuss our various methods to get ready to study and take your exam.In this new podcast we discuss:1. How to declutter and organise your desk;2.
