The Living Room (#131)
In this week’s new episode we are talking about the room where we spend the most time (after the bedroom) in the house--the living room. The living room can become the black hole of clutter as it is the epicentre to hang out with family, friends and watch tv. How often do you find random toiletries, make-up, toys, books, etc in the living room which should be elsewhere? I thought it would be great to discuss the items that are cluttering the space and also how to declutter the items you don’t need from the room and also from your home. We mentioned the following episodes in this episode:* [Mini - Decluttering](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2019/06/12/mini-decluttering) * [Netflix](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2019/07/13/netflix-and-declutter)* [Toys ](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2019/07/13/netflix-and-declutter )* [Books](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2018/11/26/organising-your-paper-books)* [Black Friday](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2018/11/21/black-friday-sales)* [Mobiles and other devices](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2018/10/02/decluttering-your-mobile-phones-and-other-devices) * [Game Consoles and Games](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2019/07/25/decluttering-your-game-consoles) Thanks for listening as always and do let us know if you have any topics you would like us to discuss on an episode.ShelinaProfessional Organiser and Podcaster------------------Learn more about [Decluttr Me](www.decluttrme.com). The Anxiety of Clutter (#130)
During this year, I have felt my clients and followers are more anxious when talking about their clutter and dealing with it. The clutter cloud seems to be bigger and all encompassing especially as people are staying at home and seeing the clutter within it more. Also with more shows coming onto tv focusing on decluttering and organising, there is this is feeling guilt or remorse of houses not looking as amazing as seen on tv. I wanted to talk about this anxiousness that has increased during this year and also how to deal with it, without feeling more anxious or upset. To listen to this new episode, click play below or you can listen to it on your favourite podcast player (just search for Decluttr Me).We discussed on this episode what we discussed with Dr Saliha from [The Lighthouse Arabia](https://www.lighthousearabia.com/) in episode 94, which you can [hear](https://www.decluttrme.com/blog/2020/02/26/decluttering-mental-health-with-dr-saliha-afridi-part-i.) here.Hope you enjoy the episode! Understanding Chronic Fatigue with guest Sarah ...
This week my guest is my lovely friend Sarah Bahar. She has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is a condition involving deep fatigue, unrefreshing sleep, and a worsening of symptoms after exertion. It is something that people have talked about for a few years and I have had 1 or 2 clients with the syndrome. Due to the fatigue that can occur on a regular basis, it can become difficult to clean the house and ensure that clutter doesn’t build up. I thought it would be great to discuss this syndrome with Sarah and also see how she deals with it on a day to day basis to help others who have the same condition. To listen to this new episode, click play below or you can listen to it on your favourite podcast player (just search for Decluttr Me).Hope you enjoy the episode! What is Hoarding, with guest Jasmine Sleigh fro...
This week I wanted to delve into hoarding. Hoarding is a big issue here in the Middle East especially with the older generation, but they are wary to have someone come in and help them declutter. The younger generation are getting very frustrated, but they are limited by what they can do to help them. I have seen a few potential clients who I think have hoarding tendencies but have not helped them eventually due to their reservations of having someone come in and help. I thought it would be great to discuss hoarding and what it actually means, how to identify if you or someone is a hoarding and also how a Professional Organiser help clients to declutter and organise. As I am not an expert on hoarding, I have asked the lovely Jasmine Sleigh, of Change your Space to join our podcast today. Jasmine has been helping her clients in Exmouth, Devon since 2013 and is the go-to hoarding expert in South West England.Hope you enjoy the episode! Wallets & purses (#126)
We have chatted about organising bags a few times, but we have never delved into those all important purses and wallets. They may be small, but it is very easy for them to become clutter carriers in a short space of time. From cash, cards, loyalty cards and receipts, as well as other random items, they are the used every day, but overlooked often when decluttering and organising. On this weeks’ episode, I give my top tips on how to declutter the inside of your purse or wallet, how to organise them and how to deal with items that you find in your wallets and purses. How Men Declutter with Tilo Flache (#122)
Today we will be discussing on the Decluttr Me podcast something that is close to my heart. Men … and their clutter. I find a large majority of men that I interact within this region are averse to decluttering and organizing or they believe that’s what they maid or wife should be doing. I wanted to delve into this adverseness and thought who better to talk to but a man! Tilo Flache of [Cluttermeister](https://www.cluttermeister.co.uk/) is a professional organizer based in Brighton, UK and also a two-book author. He has written Promise Broken. Moving On and Clutter Tides (which you can find on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tilo-Flache/e/B07PXZS28X?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1580637771&sr=8-1)). He has been a decluttering coach for a few years and we both met at one of the APDO Conferences a few years ago and hit it off!
