For as massive as Motley Crue was in the 1980's, the years beyond that have been a study in contrasts. After a decade of churning out memorable, fist-pumping arena rock anthems, the new decade of the 90's was a battle for the legendary Hollywood band. The 1990's started strong with the release of 'Decade of Decadence.' However, the dismissal of front man Vince Neil would signify a big fall from the top. The self-titled 1994 album showed off a new side to the band with their new addtion, John Corabi. However, commercial success would elude them. This would force the return of Vince Neil and an album that did more to confuse fans than excite them in 'Generation Swine.' Since then, only one full release 'Saints of Los Angeles' has been issued along with several greatest hits compilations, soundtracks, and singles that provided a smattering of new material. In this episode, we go through all of these releases including the one-off singles of recent years. Did we find some diamonds in the rough or will this be tough sledding? John Bush was once again asked about touring on his catalog of Anthrax material. Mick Mars has officially retired from Motley Crue and has been replaced by guitarist John 5. Ozzy will relaunch Ozzfest but in a much different way. WASP has kicked off their new tour to mixed reviews. Former Foreigner singer Lou Gramm is not impressed with current vocalist Kelly Hansen. KISS play a private show for cigarette big wigs. Pantera's upcoming show in Chile has been moved to a much larger venue. AC/DC's Brian Johnson has released his autobiography. ACCEPT ran into some trouble on their 'Too Mean to Die' US tour as vocalist Mark Tornillo is suffering through a viral infection. This caused the band to put on quite a different show at their Toronto stop, with vocal duties being handled by drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. We share our thoughts *note - the temporary addition of vocalist Jason McMaster had not been announced as of the date of this recording. We wish Jason well and know he'll do a great job. See ya in March at ROCKNPOD!* Iron Maiden suffered a potential Spinal Tap moment at their show in Worcester as their replica Spitfire stage piece malfunctioned. George Lynch has brought the 'Lynch Mob' name back after changing it to 'Electric Freedom.' We share our thoughts on this name change and what we think his motivation wa$. Skid Row's Erik Gronwall stated in a recent interview that some fans coming to the shows think that Sebastian Bach is still fronting the band. We discuss how prevalent this actually is among bands and general ticket buyers as well as how quickly Bas' head must have exploded after hearing about this. Corey Taylor has taken a page out of Rob Zombie's book with the purchase of the Famous Monsters brand. This acquisition will allow Taylor to move into magazines, film production, toys, and more. The subsequent releases 'Vuglar Display of Power,' 'Far Beyond Driven,' 'The Great Southern Trendkill,' and 'Reinventing the Steel' helped the band lay claim as one of the most influential metal bands of all-time. In this long-form discussion, we all share our thoughts on these albums, tell stories of how they personally affected us, and a lot more while picking our favorite and least favorite from each album.
