The Sun Will Expand to 300 Times Its Current Si...
Scientists have discovered that, far in the future, our Sun will go through a massive transformation! Right now, it's a stable star in the middle of its life, but billions of years from now, it will start to run out of fuel. As this happens, it’ll expand into what’s called a "red giant," growing up to 300 times its current size! This means it could become so big that it might swallow up the planets closest to it, like Mercury, Venus, and possibly even Earth. The Sun’s outer layers will drift away, creating a beautiful shell of glowing gas called a planetary nebula. Eventually, it’ll shrink back down to a small, cool star called a white dwarf, ending its long life as a faint point of light. Something Feels Wrong with Pluto and Its Moon, ...
Scientists have noticed something strange about Pluto and its big moon, Charon, and it's making them rethink a lot! Unlike most moons, Charon is almost half the size of Pluto, so they actually orbit around a point in space between them, almost like they're twin planets. On top of that, Pluto has a reddish "heart" and Charon has a dark "cap" at its pole, both of which are unusual and still a bit mysterious. The red color on Pluto comes from chemicals called tholins that are formed by sunlight hitting gases, but why Charon has that dark spot is still puzzling scientists. Plus, Pluto and Charon always show the same face to each other, so one side of Pluto never gets to see its moon! This unique system is giving researchers tons of clues about how small planets and moons form and change over time. #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music from TheSoul Sound: https://thesoul-sound.com/ Listen to Bright Side on: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD... 20 Hidden Secrets of Everyday Items You Didn't ...
Everyday items around us often have hidden features we don’t even realize are there! For example, the tiny hole in a pen cap isn’t just for looks—it’s there to keep air flowing if someone accidentally swallows it. Ever notice the extra fabric that comes with new clothes? It’s not just for patches; it’s so you can test how the fabric reacts to washing! The hole in pot handles is meant for hanging, but it can also hold a stirring spoon while you cook. If you look closely at your car’s gas gauge, you might see a small arrow showing which side your gas tank is on. Even your toothpaste tube has a colored bar at the end, which helps machines sort it during manufacturing. Everyday items are full of these cool little secrets that make life easier in ways we never even noticed! Optical Illusions That Will Play Trick With You...
Optical illusions are amazing because they mess with your brain, making you see things that aren’t really there! Some images might look like they’re moving, but they’re actually totally still. Others can hide faces, objects, or colors, and it’s up to you to spot them. These illusions trick your brain by playing with shapes, colors, and patterns in clever ways. Looking at them can make you feel like you’re solving a puzzle, as your brain tries to make sense of the impossible. They’re a fun way to explore how our brains work and see just how easily our minds can be fooled! Antarctica's Strange Secret Why Meteors Keep La...
Antarctica has a strange secret: it’s one of the best places on Earth to find meteorites! This icy continent may seem like an odd spot, but there’s a reason so many space rocks are discovered there. When meteors land on the white ice, they’re way easier to spot than in rocky or forested areas. Plus, the ice sheets flow slowly and push buried meteorites toward the surface, making them even easier to find. The freezing temperatures also help preserve these space rocks, keeping them in great condition for scientists to study. So, despite Antarctica’s harsh conditions, it’s a goldmine for meteorite hunters looking to learn about our solar system! What If Earth's Age Was Just 1 Day
Hey guys! How about a quick 24-hour trip through the history of our planet? That’s right – 4.5 billion years in just 1 day! In real time, the magnetic poles switch places every 250,000 years. Yep, North becomes South, and South is the new North – magnetically, at least! But on this 1-day-old planet, they’re changing 12 times a second! Also, the continents move about 1 inch per year to form a supercontinent. That happens every 400 million years. But today, they’re merging and breaking up every 2 hours! And you know what? Out of an entire 24-hour day, our species only showed up right at the last minute! Will you look at that – the moon is born! At 5:30am, we see the first single-celled organisms starting their life in the ocean. By 11am, photosynthesizing bacteria have managed to take in enough sun for the past 6 “hours” (aka, a billion years) to fill the atmosphere with the byproduct they let out: oxygen! At 11:35, it starts to get chilly. A mere second later, it’s freezing cold, and we have the first snowball on Earth. At 7:20pm, we FINALLY have something familiar: sponges! It’s 7:55, and the Earth freezes over again. Time for a 2-minute ski sesh before everything melts. At around 8:30, we can remove our sun-protecting gear because now the Ozone layer appears. By 8:45, life is flourishing in the sea. We now have jellyfish swimming around corals. It’s 9:10pm, the moon is up, the sea creatures are getting a little stir-crazy, so they decide to explore the land. By 9:45, we have the first 4-legged animals appearing in shallow waters. By 10:30, everything vanishes, we can hardly see any animals. A mass extinction takes place. Only 5% of the species survive. I’m not sure what caused it. 10:34, and the moment is here. The dinosaurs are finally making an appearance. The first one was the Nyasasaurus. 10:45 marks another mass extinction. Boy, it’s the second one in an hour. But thankfully, our dinosaur friends make it. It’s 11:03, and we have the first kangaroo ancestors. These are the first animals that carry their babies in a pouch. By 11:17, dinosaurs are reaching their full size. It’s like Jurassic Park around here! Look at the Argentinosaurus. This guy was the largest animal that ever existed. It’s 11:26. A giant asteroid coming right our way! It smashes into the Earth, and dust flies everywhere. A few seconds later, everything clears up, but the dinosaurs have disappeared. It’s 11:58pm, and still no signs of people. But the chimpanzees and bonobos appear suddenly! It’s 11:59 and 23 seconds, and we FINALLY have full-blown humans over in Africa! 25 Etiquette Rules Every Lady Should Know
In the age of gender equality, some may consider “ladylike” or “gentlemanly” conduct old-fashioned, snobbish, or just plain unnecessary. But there are still those of us who want to show sophisticated and refined behavior. In this video, we’ll tell you about all the rules of ladylike behavior that are necessary to know in order to be revered by those around you and make your life more comfortable. And for the gentlemen out there feeling left out, you can learn from some of these too! TIMESTAMPS When you have guests 1:03 When you are a guest 1:18 In a restaurant 1:42 Communication rules 2:37 Table manners 3:00 General rules 3:58 Public coatrooms 4:27 Car etiquette 5:05 If guests come to your home for the first time, show them where the bathroom is so they can freshen up. After that, you can invite them to join the others. Bring a small gift for the host. It doesn't have to be anything expensive. Try a bottle of wine, a box of cookies, or perhaps something for their vacation home or hobby. If you need to brush your hair, do it in the ladies' room. Nobody wants to find a hair on their plate or on the table. Don't forget about etiquette rules at home. For instance, it’s rude to shout to another person from a different room. Besides, you might get used to doing this, and it’ll make guests feel uncomfortable. Don't take forever choosing the best piece of food on the serving plate. Take the nearest piece to you. You wouldn't want to give the impression of being selfish and greedy, would you? If you’re on a low-sitting chair, don't cross your legs. Hold your knees together and lean them to the side. This is called “the Duchess Slant”. You can, however, cross your legs at the ankles, also known as “the Cambridge Cross”. Are there any other etiquette rules you consider really important? Then tell us about them in the comments section! SUMMARY So if you feel that you’re a real lady inside but are just a bit confused by all the intricacies of proper behavior, don't worry! Etiquette rules are quite simple if you just give them a try and incorporate them into your lifestyle. Plus, let’s be honest, no matter what gender you are, nobody wants to come off as uncivilized or rude to others! What If the Sun Never Went Down Again
Are you one of us? A curious soul who can't live without asking yourself all kinds of thoughtful or even crazy hypotheticals? Our planet rotates at a velocity of 1,037 miles per hour! That's twice as fast as the average speed of a commercial jet. Now the fact that Earth has stopped spinning would mean nothing for the atmosphere, which would keep moving for a while. This would make for winds and waves you've never seen before, even on TV. If Earth stopped, all the water in the seas and oceans would tend to head toward the poles. There would be one massive supercontinent around the equator with south and north poles having turned into oceans. The constant sunlight would heat the planet until the temperature rose above boiling at 212 degrees F. Luck for you, it's HIGHLY unlikely to happen, and even if it did, it would take Earth around 1.9 trillion years to stop existing. It turns out that the Sun isn't big enough to turn into a black hole! It's huge alright, but a star needs to be ten times bigger than the Sun to finally condense into a black hole. Although the black hole would be thousands of times smaller than Earth, its mass would that much greater. You wouldn't see the approach of the black hole, but you might notice our neighboring planets disappear one by one. What if the Sun blew up? If it happened one day, our yellow star would turn into a much cooler red giant. During this transformation, the Sun would consume Venus, Mercury, and Earth. If the Sun exploded, it would shoot out a huge amount of very powerful energy. As soon as it reached the planet, this energy would wipe all life forms off the surface of Earth. If a comet was big enough and it happened to pass close to the Sun, the star's gravity would catch it and accelerate its steep fall up to 373 miles per second. According to scientists, people wouldn't feel even the slightest echo of this event, so, I guess, there's no point in worrying about this scenario. Why Mammals Survived the Asteroid, But Dinosaur...
When a giant asteroid hit Earth around 66 million years ago, it created a massive disaster that wiped out the dinosaurs. But somehow, many mammals survived, and scientists have some ideas why. Unlike the dinosaurs, early mammals were small and could burrow underground or hide in small spaces, which helped them escape the intense heat and fires. They were also able to eat a variety of foods, like seeds and insects, which made it easier for them to survive when plant life was scarce. Dinosaurs, on the other hand, mostly needed specific plants or prey, which disappeared after the impact. Plus, mammals could regulate their body temperature better, helping them survive in the extreme cold that followed. All these survival skills meant mammals had a better chance to make it through—and eventually thrive—while dinosaurs sadly didn’t. Strange Planets Scientists Can’t Explain - Thes...
Astronomers recently found a massive planet, LHS 3154b, that’s over 13 times heavier than Earth, and it’s puzzling scientists. It orbits a small, dim red star, which shouldn't have enough material to form such a huge planet. Normally, stars like this would create much smaller planets. The discovery of LHS 3154b goes against the current theories of how planets form. It would need a planet-forming disk way bigger than expected to exist. This find is important because it could change what we know about how planets form, especially around stars like this that are super common. #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music from TheSoul Sound: https://thesoul-sound.com/ Listen to Bright Side on: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD... Scientists Found Oldest Village in Europe Surro...
Scientists have discovered what they believe to be the oldest village in Europe, and it has a unique twist—it was surrounded by wooden spikes! This ancient village, which could be nearly 7,000 years old, was likely built with these spikes, or palisades, as a form of protection. Archaeologists think the spikes were put up to keep out wild animals or other tribes, making it one of the earliest examples of village defense. The settlement shows how early humans started forming communities with safety in mind. It's incredible to think that so long ago, people were already working together to create secure, organized living spaces. This find gives us a glimpse into life in ancient Europe and shows just how clever early humans were at protecting themselves. What Happened to the Iceberg after the titanic ...
It was the very beginning of the year 1912. A giant chunk of ice broke off a glacier in southwest Greenland. It was a huge thing - more than 1,700 ft long, it weighed around 75 million tons! Btw, out of 15,000 to 30,000 icebergs that drift away from Greenland’s glaciers, only 1% ever makes it all the way to the Atlantic. That's why it's so amazing that in April that the iceberg that sank the Titanic was already more than 1,500 miles away from the Arctic Circle! Several days before our iceberg made it to the Atlantic Ocean, a magnificent ship left port. It was Titanic. Meanwhile, the iceberg was approaching the area the Titanic was going to cross on its way to New York. It happened on April, 14 when the ship was in the North Atlantic Ocean. At about 11.40 PM, people who were still awake on board the Titanic toppled down, pushed over by some mysterious and powerful force. We al know what was that. But do you know what happened to the iceberg after the Titanic hit it? #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: / brightside Instagram: / brightgram 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC Stock materials (photos, footages and other): https://www.depositphotos.com https://www.shutterstock.com https://www.eastnews.ru ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/

Mystery of the Disappeared Bodies of the Titanic
The titan of the sea, the great unsinkable ship that sank – over a century later, the mystery of the Titanic is still being studied to this day. Only a third of the ship’s passengers survived, while over 1,500 lost their lives. But out of all those casualties, only 340 bodies were recovered. So, the question remains: what happened to the remaining 1,160? Other videos you might like: Scientists Have Found The Titanic Will Disappear Soon • Scientists Have Found The Titanic Wil... There were only 20, and they needed 60 to be able to carry everybody on board to safety. Perhaps those poor souls could’ve been rescued from the bone-chilling waters a lot sooner if the closest ships passing by the Titanic’s crash site had seen the flairs and other distress signals being sent. The ship was also moving much faster than the speed it was built for. The reason for this was that the ship’s owner, White Star Line, didn’t want to fall behind schedule. Only hours after the Titanic sank, a massive storm came over the ocean. The currents and winds would’ve swept many bodies up to 50 miles away from the crash site. Of course, there were those victims that went down with the ship, and they had no chance of being retrieved. As for the bodies that were recovered, some were given a proper burial at sea if there wasn’t room for them on the rescue ship. The brave and selfless woman earned herself the nickname “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” and after the ship went down, she tried her best to get as many passengers as she could into the lifeboats. There was also author, journalist, and teacher, Lawrence Beesley. He later wrote a book that brought him a lot of success called The Loss of the SS Titanic. Another survivor was Violet Constance Jessop, who was a stewardess on the ship. Jessop hadn’t planned to work on the Titanic until her friends convinced her to apply for the job. Dorothy Gibson, a beautiful American singer, model, and silent film actress was also a survivor of the Titanic. Gibson was one of the richer and more famous aboard the ship. A Mystical Brooch No One Wants to Even Touch
Croesus, the king of Lydia, who reigned for 14 years in the 6th century BCE, was legendary for his wealth. You might wonder what the man did to protect his treasures. Well, rumor has it that he used to put curses on his most valuable belongings, including the infamous King Croesus's golden brooch, one of the most precious items in his jewelry collection. For hundreds of years, the treasure of King Croesus lay underground, lost but not forgotten. But one day in 1965, several men came across the ancient burial mound of a Lydian princess. The men didn't excavate all the treasure at once. They returned once again in 1968 but didn't find anything but wall paintings. Among the artifacts they’d stolen, there was a beautiful golden brooch in the shape of a winged seahorse... Animation is created by Bright Side. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: In no time, the men realized that the fabled curse that’d been put on the treasures and, in particular, the brooch, 2,500 years ago, was far more than just a superstition. The thieves got caught by the police after one of their own betrayed his accomplices, unhappy with the way they’d divided the treasure. But being arrested wasn't the only punishment the thieves had to live through for their crimes. One of the thieves lost his three sons under different tragic circumstances. In the 1970s, it was alleged that more than 200 items from King Croesus's treasure had been bought by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art around 1968. After a 6-year legal battle that was rumored to cost Turkey more than $30 million, the museum admitted that while purchasing the artifacts, they’d known that they’d been stolen. In 2006, 13 years after the artifacts had been relocated, it turned out that the famous golden seahorse brooch, which was on display in Turkey's Uşak Museum, was a fake! During the investigation, the museum's director admitted that he’d sold the real brooch, as well as some other artifacts, to cover his gambling debts. If you ever see the 67.5 carat (13 gr - 0.5 oz) Black Orlov Diamond, don't touch it without a pair of gloves on, or at all (better safe than sorry, you know). That thing is as dangerous as it is gorgeous. The name of the 105-carat (21 g - 0.7 oz) Koh-i-Noor Diamond means "the mountain of light." Every single man who wore the diamond lost his throne. Colonel W. Ferris did bring the Delhi Purple Sapphire to England, and while he had possession of the gem, his family suffered from countless health and financial problems. The Star of India is the largest known blue sapphire in the world. People talked about curses and spells that protected the sapphire. A Potentially Habitable Super Earth Has Been Di...
The universe is too big for us to be the only ones in it. It's just a matter of knowing where to look, and scientists from NASA's TESS program might have stumbled across the next clue in this galactic scavenger hunt. The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite was launched in April of 2019 with the aim of locating planets in orbit around nearby stars. One of these stars is the comparatively small GEE-JAY 357. It's about 31 light-years from Earth. It's one of the closest to Earth! Thanks to TESS, NASA astronomers discovered a planet orbiting this distant star. And in fact, it’s one of the few whose atmosphere can be studied by scientists, once they determine if it has one! TIMESTAMPS: What is this planet like? 0:27 A planet that is technically survivable for humans 2:15 Can we expect any alien visitors? 5:03 Why we can't see those planets directly 6:57 #planets #space #brightside SUMMARY: GEE-JAY 357 b is believed to be about twenty-two percent larger than Earth, and eleven times closer to its star than Mercury is to the Sun. Scientists have discovered planets beyond our solar system before, but GEE-JAY 357-b is one of the closest to Earth. Hidden beyond the semi-molten glow of this “hot Earth,” as astronomers called it, were two more planets. One of them, GEE-JAY 357-d is just far enough from the star to potentially support life. Its orbiting inside its solar system's habitable zone, warm enough to support life, but not so warm that it ends up charbroiled. NASA scientists estimate that that planet has an average temperature of about minus sixty-four degrees. That’s cold, comparable to the interior of Antarctica. I wouldn’t expect any alien visitors for most of the same reasons humans will probably never be visiting GEE-JAY 357-d for themselves. If intelligent life developed, there’s no reason to believe it wouldn’t sooner or later turn its sensory organs to the stars. That's when the planet's gravity becomes an obstacle. I Scientists have estimated that reaching the moon of a planet ten times the size of Earth, would require almost five hundred thousand tons of fuel to get off the ground. It is worth noting that Astronomers haven't yet been able to see any of these planets directly. The TESS only discovered the massive and hot planet b because of its silhouette passing in front of the star. Since c and d never passed between Earth and GEE-JAY 357 during the month when TESS was able to capture images of the star, we've only been able to study them indirectly. The middle planet, called GEE-JAY 357-c just to make things confusing, didn’t even give us that. Because of its unusually tilted orbit, this planet never passes between Earth and its star at all.
