<p>Tuesday is election day! We decided to invite Shadi Hamid, a scholar and writer at the intersection of democracy and foreign policy to talk about his new book, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Problem-Democracy-America-Middle-East/dp/0197579469/ref=sr_1_1?crid=7G0S8UD98R3H&amp;keywords=the+problem+of+democracy&amp;qid=1667686994&amp;sprefix=the+problem+of+democracy%2Caps%2C273&amp;sr=8-1"><strong>"The Problem of Democracy"</strong></a> and how democracy is playing out as an issue in this election. More than a foreign policy book, Shadi presents a new idea, "democratic minimalism" for us to consider in the US's foreign policy towards the Middle East and at home here in the US.
