Steelers Football - The Terrible Podcast - Epis...
December 19, 2022 -

Season 13, Episode 63 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Sunday afternoon road win against the Carolina Panthers.

We start by talking about the Steelers’ pregame inactive list ahead of Sunday's game and how inside linebacker Myles Jack was on it. That resulted in Steelers’ rookie inside linebacker Mark Robinson dressing and playing on Sunday, so we talk a little about that as well.

We thoroughly go over the play of the Steelers on offense, defense, and special teams against the Panthers. We discuss the running game on offense, the long drives, which included a 21-play one. We also talk about the play of quarterback Mitch Trubisky and wide receiver Diontae Johnson on Sunday. Johnson’s silly penalty in the third quarter is also discussed when we go over the play of the offense.

The Steelers’ defense played well against the run on Sunday so we make sure to highlight that. We go over the third down conversions the defense allowed that were a bit concerning. Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith had a really nice showing against the Panthers so we make sure to talk about that.

The stupid penalty by Steelers’ inside linebacker Marcus Allen is surely discussed in this show and we talk briefly about some special teams items from the game against the Panthers.

What do the Steelers’ playoff scenarios look like right now? There are too many to go over, but Alex and I hit on some key things to note when it comes to that improbable thing happening.

We mix in other Steelers’ talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post. We also answer a few listener emails late in this show to close things out.

December 16, 2022 -

Season 13, Episode 62 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get ready to play the Carolina Panthers on the road on Sunday afternoon.

Alex and I go over the injuries that the Steelers are dealing with ahead of the Sunday game and that includes us speculating more about the Sunday status of several players who failed to practice on either Wednesday or Thursday. We discuss the status of quarterback Kenny Pickett heading into Friday and the decision the Steelers will make as to who the starting quarterback will and should be should the rookie be unable to play on Sunday.

Alex and I have a little discussion about the outlook for the 2023 Steelers after going down a rabbit hole. We discuss the holes on both sides of the football as the 2022 regular season begins to wind down.Alex and I then move on to parse the notable comments made on Thursday by Steelers' coordinators Matt Canada and Teryl Austin. We go over what Canada said about the quarterback position, his thoughts on guard James Daniels and tight end Connor Heyward and more. We talk about what Austin had to say about the team's inside linebackers on Thursday and specifically when it comes to lack of playmaking.

Alex and I also discuss rookie defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal at this point in the season and what the future might hold for him.

In the middle of this show, Alex and I preview the Steelers' Sunday opponent, the Carolina Panthers. We couldn’t secure a Panthers' beat writer this week, so we look at the Panthers on both sides of the football based on their recent tape. We attempt to cover all the usual angles when it comes to previewing this Sunday game.

As usual, Alex and I wind down this Friday show by providing our picks of all the weekend games against the spread before picking the final score of the Steelers' game against the Panthers.

We mix in other Steelers talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post, and then we close this show out by hitting the e-mail machine for several listener questions.

December 12, 2022 -

Season 13, Episode 60 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Sunday afternoon home loss against the Baltimore Ravens.

We start by talking about the pregame inactive list ahead of Sunday's game and how outside linebacker Malik Reed was on it. We also discuss the injuries suffered during Sunday's loss to the Ravens. We spend a little time talking about the early head injury suffered by rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett and how the concussion protocol was used that allowed him to return briefly before exiting for good. We also talk about if the tackle of Pickett should have been a penalty.

We move on to fully break down the play of the Steelers on the defensive side of the football to start. That includes a lot of talk about how the defensive front was run on all game and even after the Ravens' third-string quarterback entered the game late in the third quarter. We discuss the big drive the Ravens had after they blocked a Steelers field goal attempt and the final offensive series that was used to run out the clock, which included a key third down conversion via a run.

Alex and I then flip over to the offensive side of the football. We talk about the three interceptions thrown by quarterback Mitch Trubisky after he entered the game and how impactful they were to the loss. We discuss Trubisky being overly aggressive after entering the game. Some praise for rookie wide receiver George Pickens is mixed in and we give our initial thoughts on the Steelers' running game and offensive line play prior to the all-22 tape dropping.

Alex and I save time to talk about the Steelers;' special teams play on Sunday and how that was disappointing as well.

We mix in other Steelers’ talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Sunday afternoon win against the Atlanta Falcons.

We start by talking about the huge contingent of Steelers' fans that were at the Sunday game in Atlanta. We then move on to recap the Saturday roster moves made by the Steelers as well as the team's five inactive players on Sunday.

Special teams strategy leads our talk about the Sunday win as we discuss the job done by the Steelers to keep the football out of the hands of Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson in the kickoff return game. We also note a few other special team impacts from Sunday's game.

We move on to fully break down the play of the Steelers on the offensive side of the football. We also discuss how we feel about Pickens not addressing the media after Sunday's game.

Alex and I then move on to discuss the play of the Steelers’ defense on Sunday and how the Falcons' offense sure did their part in squandering away the game in the second half via penalties and missed plays.

We mix in other Steelers’ talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post.
