Explore in Vulnerability: ADHD at Microsoft wit...

I am so excited to be back after our little summer hiatus. To bring us back with a bang, I’ll be talking with Todd Ellis. Todd has been at Microsoft for the past 20 years and is a co-lead for a global group of neurodivergent individuals within that company. He’s also ADHD, dyslexic, and has just finished his training as an ADHD coach. Todd co-hosts the Schooling Struggle podcast.

Our conversation ranged from how to approach neurodiversity and accommodations in a multicultural company, what it was like for Todd to be diagnosed ADHD as a kid but not really dig into what that meant until middle age, and how we each got into coaching and why we do it. Plus many diversions, hopefully of the amusing and educational persuasion! Enjoy.

Donate to this podcast: Patreon.com/neurodiverging, or paypal.me/neurodiverging
Listen to the Schooling Struggle here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/schooling-struggle/id1597195900

Full show notes and a transcript are available at https://neurodiverging.com/explore-in-vulnerability-adhd-at-microsoft-with-todd-ellis/
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/neurodiverging/message

Homeschooling Autistic and ADHD Kids: Our Story

We've talked to special education tutors, literacy experts, and parents about how public schooling has affected their autistic and ADHD children, and some of the issues or challenges they've had receiving needed supports for their kids. And, over the course of this podcast, we've talked to a couple of parents who have chosen to pull their children from public schooling and to homeschool instead. Today I’m here to tell you about my neurodiverse family’s experience homeschooling during the pandemic, why it’s working for us, and whether homeschooling is a good idea for families with disabled kids, or not!

Want special access to the Patrons-Only Aftershow, and many other perks? Consider pledging $1, $5, or $10 a month to fund the Neurodiverging Podcast. Autism, Literacy, and Educational Trauma with L...

Lois Letchford is my guest today. Lois recognized her “learning difference” at the age of 39 when teaching her son with autism to read. She then trained to become a literacy specialist, and encourages learning through experience and context. Lois is the cofounder of the Teaching Students with Dyslexia Writing & Reading Program.

Reversed: A Memoir is Lois' first book. In this story, she details the journey of her son’s dramatic failure in first grade. The story tells the twists and turns that promoted her passion and her son’s dramatic academic turn-a-round.

Lois and I have a wide-ranging, enthusiastic conversation about her experience teaching her son and other autistic children to read, the psychology behind how children learn, and how schooling and education can cause trauma when approached from the wrong mindset.

- Show notes and transcript: https://neurodiverging.com/autism-literacy-educational-trauma-with-lois-letchford/

- Lois Letchford's home page: https://www.loisletchford.com/

- Check out Reversed: A Memoir: Bookshop: https://bookshop.org/a/4824/9780684830780 | Amazon: https://amzn.to/2YIqkY2 (Affiliate Link)

Did you know Neurodiverging now offers a FREE support group for autistic parents, monthly free live classes on neurodivergence-related topics, and a Coaching Corner twice a month on Instagram? How to Get Your Child Support at School with La...

Today's conversation is with Laura Reber, Founder of Progress Parade, an online special education tutoring company. With her lifelong interest in psychology and problem-solving, Laura initially began her career as a school psychologist before following her passion for supporting each student as an individual to create her tutoring company, Progress Parade.

Laura is a wealth of knowledge about special education, learning disabilities and challenges, and how to navigate the public education system to get the most for your child. In this interview, we discuss what a school psychologist does, the difference between how a school evaluates a child and how a medical team does, how a child's diagnosis can impact the services they receive, the rights of the parent around school evaluation, and some common supports a school can offer to a neurodivergent child.

Laura Reber is the founder of Progress Parade, a team of online special education tutors: https://www.progressparade.com/

Show notes and a transcript are available here: https://neurodiverging.com/how-to-get-support-at-school-laura-reber-progress-parade/

Join us on Patreon here: http://patreon.com/neurodiverging

Did you know Neurodiverging now offers a FREE support group for autistic parents, monthly free live classes on neurodivergence-related topics, and a Coaching Corner twice a month on Instagram?
