Colorado Springs Police Week in Review: Armed R...
Colorado Springs Police Department reports that during the past week multiple alleged incidents occurred across the city. On the southeast side near South Academy Boulevard and East Fountain Boulevard, officers responded to an alleged armed robbery at a convenience business during evening hours. A suspect reportedly displayed a handgun and demanded cash before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. The case remains under investigation and police are reviewing surveillance video for suspect identification.
In the central area near Uintah Street and North Nevada Avenue, patrol officers investigated an alleged vehicle burglary series in which several parked vehicles were entered overnight and items including electronics and wallets were taken. Forced entry was reported in some cases. Detectives are working to determine whether the incidents are related and are asking the public to report any home security video from the area that shows suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing.
On the northeast side in the vicinity of Dublin Boulevard and North Union Boulevard, officers responded to reports of an alleged residential burglary during daytime hours. Entry was believed to have been made through an unlocked rear door and assorted personal property was reported missing. The scene was processed for evidence and the case is under investigation by property crimes detectives.
In the downtown corridor near Colorado Avenue and Tejon Street, officers made an arrest following an alleged assault outside a business in the late-night hours. One adult victim reported being struck during a disturbance involving several individuals. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. One adult suspect was taken into custody at the scene and booked into jail. The case remains active pending further interviews.
On the west side near 30th Street and Garden of the Gods Road, officers and traffic investigators responded to an alleged hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The involved vehicle left the scene prior to officer arrival. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Investigators are seeking public assistance in locating a dark-colored sedan with front-end damage last seen traveling westbound in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
In the southern area near South Nevada Avenue and East Las Vegas Street, officers conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the alleged seizure of narcotics and a firearm from a vehicle. The adult driver was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons violations. The case has been forwarded to detectives for follow-up.
Across these incidents, the week shows a continued pattern of property crimes such as vehicle and residential burglaries, along with isolated incidents of violence and traffic-related offenses.
