Dying Laughing with Jessimae

Welcome to Dying Laughing, where we laugh in the face of loss and death because if you’re not laughing, you’re crying in a Marshall's fitting room while listening to Fleetwood Mac on repeat. You’re going to experience all kinds of loss in your life: a loved one, your job, your relationship, your pet (which is way worse than your relationship) and even your favorite necklace that your dad gave you (which your toxic ex definitely stole). You’ll even lose yourself from time to time. While all of this sounds brutal, it can also be beautiful. I call it ‘brutiful.’

Join me and some of my favorite human beings as we talk about the mess, the magic, and the meaning in our grief. Everything deserves a proper burial, even our dignity. I’ll be your grief guru through it all.

Welcome to Dying Laughing with Jessimae. 💀🖤

The Deaths We Don’t Bury | Kyle Creek (aka The ...
In this episode, Jessimae sits down with writer and provocateur Kyle Creek. better known as The Captain to talk about the invisible deaths we carry: identity shifts, old selves, broken dreams, and relationships that died without closure.  We also discuss the death of parts of the self in order to prepare for brute change that comes with parenthood. They dive into the losses that don’t get eulogies, the parts of ourselves we had to kill to survive, and why trying to resurrect the past usually ends in emotional zombie mode. This is a conversation for anyone who’s ever grieved something silently without thoughts and prayers, condolences, or closure.  They discuss ego death and becoming someone new Masculinity, fatherhood, and letting go of who you thought you'd be.

The Best Stage of Grief: Denial | Jessimae Peluso
Bonus Episode: Denial (From the Grief Survival Guide) In this bonus throwback from Jessimae’s Grief Survival Guide series, we dig into the first stage of grief: Denial. Recorded shortly after losing her mom, Jessimae reflects on what it feels like when reality just won’t sink in—the suspended state of disbelief, the way grief slows you down, and how talking about a loved one in the past tense can feel impossible. From crying in unexpected places, to realizing that “grief brain” is real, to learning how to actually listen to your body, she shares the rawest truths from the earliest days of her loss. This isn’t a clean, polished version of grief—it’s messy, tender, and brutally human. And it’s a reminder that self-care isn’t optional when your world has been cracked open.

Stages of Grief: Denial | Jessimae Peluso
EPISODE 8: The Stages of Grief: Denial Dying Laughing with Jessimae Peluso We’re kicking off the first stage of grief...Denial. You know… that magical headspace where you tell yourself everything’s fine, even when your 15-year-old dog is basically applying for Social Security. In this episode of Dying Laughing, I share how denial has shown up in my life (spoiler: a lot), why dogs are little time capsules, and I read submissions about the funniest, most relatable, and most painfully human ways people and their families have lived in denial. From pretending a breakup was “just a break” to ignoring that Grandma’s wig was on backwards at the funeral this one’s honest, hilarious, and maybe a little too real.

EPISODE 7: How To Heal After Loss with Sarah Barthel (Phantogram) Pt. 2 Dying Laughing with Jessimae Peluso In this powerful continuation of our conversation, Sarah Barthel opens up about how grief reshaped her relationship with her mother, and how a life-altering session with a medium helped her entire family process their loss in a deeply emotional and unexpected way. We also answer questions from listeners about navigating heartbreak, healing, and what it means to find connection after someone is gone. It’s a raw, moving episode that reminds us: grief doesn’t end, but sometimes, it transforms.

If You Would Have Told Me | John Stamos Pt. 2
Part two with Stamos, baby! We go even deeper in this one. We recorded before the recent passing of Brian Wilson’s wife, Melinda, so the conversation around his work with The Beach Boys hits even harder now. We talk about how music helps us survive grief, the real behind-the-scenes magic of Full House, and how our mutual friend Jeff Ross plays a big role in how we process pain through comedy.

A Funeral For Sharp Tongue Podcast | Jessimae P...
After years of stories, therapy sessions disguised as interviews, and enough oversharing to make my ancestors sweat… this is the final episode of Sharp Tongue Podcast. In this send-off, I reflect on what this podcast has meant to me, the beautiful (and weird) community we’ve built, and why it’s time for a change. We have a new name, a new direction, and the same dark sense of humor that got us through it all. Thank you for riding with me. For listening. For laughing. For healing in real time. Let’s lay Sharp Tongue to rest and DIE LAUGHING together. New show. New name. Same Jessimae.
