Canada's deficit has grown yet again but does that mean we're all going to hell in a hand-basket? Guest: Dr. Ian Lee, Associate Professor, Sprott School of Business, Carleton University - The first flight on another planet has officially happened! A helicopter took flight from the Red Planet's surface making for what was very much a Wright Brothers-esque moment. Will putting boots back on the lunar surface reinvigorate that fascination? Guest: Dr. Jesse Rogerson, Astrophysicist; Assistant Professor, Department of Science & Technology Studies, York University - Why do players continue to pass the puck back when they start getting on a breakaway? It feels like there's no consistency in the NHL's rulings when it comes to suspending/fining players do they need different people making the decisions or should the players go back to fighting and policing themselves? Does Patrick Marleau's new record really mean that much when compared to who held it before him? These questions and more get answered in this week's edition of Sports Talk with Don Robertson. Guest: Clare Freeman, Executive Director, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice - A poll from the US has released its findings about what people expect the media to be providing and what it actually is providing. Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) It isn't recommended that you try driving with your hands cuffed behind your back and yet this guy tried anyways after he broke free of the arresting officer. Looks like someone will be getting home less than pleased. 3) Before you can immigrate to Quebec from out of Canada, you've got to prove your ability to communicate in French. LRT is back in the news! The weird thing is that the reason we're talking about it is because the talking seems to be done by everyone except for Hamilton City Hall. Why isn't Hamilton being included in the discussion and how could that influence the outcome of the project? Guest: John Paul Danko, Ward 8 City Councillor, City of Hamilton - The federal government is set to announce its newest budget and chances are pretty good that it'll focus around one word, spending. Scott gets those pieces of advice direct from the source. Guest: Bill Robson, CEO, C. D. Howe Institute - The Masters are underway and some interesting things have gone down on the course some of which came thanks to the ever-so tricky 12th hole. Ben's Story of the Day - The Double Cruiser Car...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) People who steal cars generally aim for cars that are easy to get into and easy to get rid of. That clearly wasn't the goal of this guy who stole a police cruiser and then, after a car chase, resisted arrest and managed to steal a second police cruiser! 2) A previous Ben's Story of the Day featured a story about a Taiwanese sushi restaurant who offered a free all-you-can-eat sushi dinner for 6 people to anyone who changed their name to Salmon. Turns out there's a limit to the number of times you can change your name in Taiwan and this guy found that limit! 3) Cows aren't known for their speed but they sure are known for their size. When one gets free, two officers are dispatched to return the cow however one thing led to another and now one of the officers is recovering from a gunshot wound. Of all possible outcomes, how is it that this one became reality? Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

While everyone waits to hear what the verdict will be for Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs had some interesting words for the other governments of the world. Will his comment force Canada to make some decisions to avoid being hypocritical? Guest: Dr. Charles Burton, Senior Fellow, Macdonald-Laurier Institute, Centre for Advancing Canada’s Interests Abroad - There appears to be a bit of a lit at the end of the tunnel for Hamilton's entertainment, tourism and hospitality industries. We're planning on holding the Grey Cup in the city this year and City Hall is preparing to enter contract negotiations to host the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards but will these be enough? Should Hamilton be begging and bidding to host as many events as it possibly can? Guest: Tim Potocic, Co-Owner, Sonic Unyon; Organizer, Supercrawl - It looks as though the Toronto Raptors' championship winning days are over this year. Though it looks like this is the case, we haven't heard or seen anything from the team's president, Masai Ujiri. Is there any hope for them? Ben's Story of the Day - Airplane Cat Tranquili...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) Airplane flights can be stressful so sometimes people will take something to help calm them down for the trip. This guy had anything but a calm flight after he bit the ear of another person and some powder was found on him. I wonder if that may have played a role here? 2) Oklahoma must have a problem with Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) because one of their legislators tried to pass a bill making it legal to hunt them! Despite the fact that the bill didn't pass, there's still a cool $2 million waiting forever whoever takes one down. 3) The people in the IT department are generally accepted as the smart people who know just about everything there is to know about their company's computer network and the programs it runs however an Australian university may have found an outlier. During some work on the entire university's network a little slip of the finger caused every computer to be set back to the factory defaults effectively nuking everything and anything they stored online. RIP. Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?
