Hope for an LRT system in Hamilton grows, The T...
This Thursday will see an announcement be made by the federal government that will either give Hamilton's proposed LRT project its final nail in the coffin or the green light to put shovels in the ground. Ben's Story of the Day - Expensive Spongebob Po...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) A child with a credit card will often result in some rather expensive charges being put on said card and this is no different. This 4-year-old kid managed to get on his mom's Amazon account and placed an order of Spongebob popsicles to the tune of nearly $3,000. 2) People look for different things in their partners but once this lady discovered her fiance didn't know how to multiply by 2, she called off the wedding! If you're going to multiply, it's important to know how. 3) The name Chernobyl is synonymous with radioactivity, post-apocalyptic conditions and nuclear activity. Apples from the area are being used to make 'ATOMIK Apple Spirit'. Does it glow in the dark? Is there a nuclear zing our booze is missing? Unfortunately we may never know thanks to the Ukrainian Security Service who seized the first batch of 1500 bottles. We'll just have to wait and see if some day it'll grace the shelves of the LCBO. Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

Being fully vaccinated means you're fully protected against COVID-19, right? A comment from Dr. Theresa Tam might make you think otherwise. We learned that people are doing a good job staying at home. This is due to technology that supposedly doesn't track you... so how do they know we're staying home? Guest: Allen Mendelsohn, Canadian Internet and Tech. Lawyer - According to an article in the C2C Journal, entertainment appears to be seeing a rift. Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) Fell asleep with your contacts in? Woke up with some dry eyes? You might want to double check you're grabbing your eye drops and not the suspiciously similar bottle of nail glue... be a shame if a second person glued their eyes shut. 2) Police in Harrisburg, Illinois are arresting parents if their kids skip school. But what do you do when you've elected the remote learning option and they still show up? 3) Schools exist solely to further the education of the attending students and in Florida, they paint on the road where school zones are so drivers know. It looks like this line painter didn't do so great in school because the word 'school' was spelled wrong on the road! On the bright side, Florida might very well have the world's first schohol zone now. Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

Do people with food allergies benefit from food...
Bans on certain kinds of food are currently present in many schools in Ontario but there are some scientists who are looking into whether or not there's a better way to be going about this. Could blanket bans on food like peanuts not be the answer? Guest: Dr. Susan Waserman, Director of the Adverse Reactions Clinic, Firestone Institute of Respiratory Health, Professor of Medicine at the Division of Clinical Immunology & Allergy, Department of Medicine, McMaster University - Athletes are in the best shape they've ever been and yet they are still far from perfect. Guest: Steve Lidstone, Associate Director, Sports Performance, Brock University - The COVID-19 pandemic has driven people crazy! Or at least you'd think so after seeing this list of stupid names given to babies since the beginning of the year. Ben's Story of the Day - The 4mph Police Chase,...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) Police chases are supposed to be fast, right? Not in this case. In what's been described as the slowest, saddest police chase ever, an English police officer chased a boat along a channel for 8 miles while on his bicycle topping out at a whopping 4 miles per hour. 2) Airport security at New York's JFK airport caught a smuggler with some rather interesting wares. A man was caught flying in from Guyana with 35 competitive songbirds hidden on his person. One must ask, how didn't anyone hear these competitive birds on the flight from Guyana? 3) Some neighbours simply suck. This guy found a way to get him to shut up by building a wall of poop between them. Creativity comes in many ways, some of those simply stink and this one is no different, literally. Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

Publicly available electric scooters could be gracing Hamilton's streets soon. While this will be similar to the SoBi bike program there's some rather large differences between an electric scooter and a bicycle. Would introducing these scooters be a good idea? Guest: John Paul Danko, Ward 8 City Councillor, City of Hamilton - He could have killed someone, literally, and yet he was only fined $5,000. That's how many people feel following an astonishing fight last night during the hockey game between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals. What should the punishment be that Capitals winger Tom Wilson receives and why does the NHL suck at delivering punishments for bad behaviour? Guest: Mark Hebscher, Author; Podcaster; Former Host, CHCH-TV; Former Co-Host, Sportsline - Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating to the movie theatre industry but it looks like there will be a rather large resurgence in patronage. What does the future hold for cinema owners and cinema-goers? Guest: Robert Thompson, Director, Bleier Center for Television & Popular Culture; Trustee Professor of Television, Radio and Film

Ben's Story of the Day - Elderly Escapees, Boul...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) They may be old but they're not out of the fight! An assisted living facility had two fewer residents after an elderly couple with early signs of dementia flew the coop. The entrance's keypad had buttons that all make unique beeps which the husband picked up on. Using some of his old army skills, he took note of which buttons made up the password and did a little deciphering. After cracking the password the couple made their escape. Normally you'll find weird, unusual or downright stupid here but this time it's nothing but pure genius! 2) It's finally happened. The most descriptive and yet least descriptive headline of all time. It features boulders, Boulder Canyon, the city of Boulder, Colorado and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Why overthink naming everything when 'boulder' does just fine? 3) Police officers have to deal with a lot on a daily basis. Fortunately, a colostomy bag wielding weirdo who's probably had a bit too much to drink in Kid Rock’s Big A** Honky Tonk & Rock ‘n’ Roll Steakhouse isn't one of those daily doses of dumb. Unfortunately for the responding officers, this is the (hopefully) one time they will have to use all of their training to figure things out. Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

Guest: Ian Dunn, President, Ontario Forest Industries Association - What's prompting some provinces to get rid of their school boards altogether? Ben's Story of the Day - Surprise Wedding, A Re...
Today's edition of Ben's Story of the Day features: 1) Finding a wedding venue is anything but easy so this Florida couple had an idea. Since it looks like no one lives in this massive estate for sale, let's have the wedding here; it's not like the neighbour is also the property owner or anything. 2) Gender reveals are all the rage which naturally means that someone has to take it to the next level and boy howdy did someone manage to do just that. Featuring 80lbs of Tannerite (an explosive that can be set off by shooting it) and a quarry, this guy shook pictures off the walls of nearby houses and registered as an earthquake because of the seismic activity it generated. Oh and it's a boy! 3) Children have amazing imaginations and when it's science fair time, those imaginations kick into overdrive and this boy is no different. The catch here is that his imagination was captured by his cat, more specifically the cat's bum hole and where it touches around the house. Now how would someone track what it touches, you might ask? How about using mom's lipstick! Which one will be crowned Ben's Story of the Day? Which one is your story of the day?

No one could have guessed that one of Canada's furry friends took a nice big bite out of an internet cable in Northern BC. 2) A guy from Japan has found himself in trouble with the law after it was discovered he's been dating 35 women at the same time. Why so many at once? He wanted some cool birthday gifts! 3) While trying to change her name, a lady in Oklahoma discovered there was a warrant out for her as a result of a felony embezzlement charge. Hamilton was previously staring down the barrel of a massive financial deficit but it appears this isn't the case anymore and instead we've got a huge surplus! Where did this come from and how will the city be using its newfound money? Guest: Lloyd Ferguson, Ward 12 Councillor, City of Hamilton - Canadians have seen more and more restrictions get put in place with the hopes that they'll curb the spread of COVID-19. Regardless of what the end-goal is, there's no denying that there are some questions that need asking regarding the  constitutionality of those restrictions. Even if Canadians' charter rights are being violated, do Canadians care? Guest: Ryan O'Connor, Lawyer & Partner, Zayouna Law Firm - Should Olympic athletes all be given their full vaccinations so the Olympics can be held? Why did the IIHF cancel the Women's World Hockey Championship? Scott and Don discuss these questions and more in Sports Talk with Don Robertson. Do you want to keep hearing about the pandemic or would you rather it be forgotten once this is all over? Guest: Eric Alper, Publicist, Music Commentator & Shameless Idealist - It would appear that the federal government has declared its stance on racism and critical race theory. Something that seems to be overlooked quite a bit is the fact that every year sees the federal government spend an incredible amount of money on nothing but interest payments for all the money it owes.
