Sosbans and Sidesteps

The home of Scarlets supporters and community rugby in West Wales. We like to delve into the nitty gritty of Scarlets games, the community game and the pathway on a regular basis. We analyse games, talk to players, chat with coaches and get the fans point of view - we may also discuss other weird stuff as well.

Big M takes the ship for a solo run through the happy waters of the European challenge cup, stopping to swim in the clear waters of running rugby, keeping the ball in hand and disciplined rugby. He sails through the league fixture against Glasgow before heading for home through the uncertain waters of the community game and then back home to the mother in law.

Enjoy your journey with Captain Martyn before he gives himself a promotion and a bigger ship!

When the Sharks came to town - and got battered!

There are chip shops in Llanelli that now offer 'Battered Shark' in their menu after last Saturdays game - and what a game it was.

Lee G and Big M enjoy their review of that game and look forward to the Brive game with the same enthusiasm.

Attention is then turned to the community game with some big results, especially for Pembrokeshire Schools U15s and Llangwm Youth and a huge weekend ahead at Crymych RFC!

The bit in between Italy and France

Lee G is on his own this week and is focussing on the Wales games against Italy and France. He takes a look at how the Italian game was won and how we came to losing it - but a win is a win and Wales needed it for confidence more than anything.

He takes a look at the side selected to play France and what we can expect from it - and what we can't expect from them.

Lee also run through some of the developments that we are looking at trying for next season and how we may try a few of them out before the end of this season - if you would like to get involved, please message us on Facebook, Twitter or email us on scarletspembs@gmail.com

The one where we talk about the WRU's problems

We start with the Wales game from the weekend and quickly move on to the problems inside the WRU and Welsh Rugby. The effects of the last couple of weeks will be felt for many years to come and are the result of many years past - so it wont be the last.

We talk through how it will affect the Scarlets, who we expect to leave and what kind of team we can expect in the future. We also look at what happens if we have 22 players on injury in the future and the effect of reducing academies etc as well as throwing in some helpful suggestions.

Then we look at the usual community rugby and junior rugby fixtures for the week - then we double check to make sure we covered everything.

We run through the boys and girls Under 18s games, the start of the Scarlets West & East U16s games and even a bit of U 15s for good measure.

We couldn't avoid talking about the Wales v Scotland game and the U 20s there as well.
