The longest-running Fantasy Hockey Podcast in the world. Analytical, self-aware, occasionally prophetic. Doing our part to make sure Fantasy Hockey Is For Everyone.
Oh, dear-- it's happened again. Evgeny Malkin's latest bust-up has left the Pittsburgh Penguins and your fantasy team in dire straits. But have no fear! Elan and Brian have all the tips and analysis you'll need to recover on this week's episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.
Malkin is far from the only player injured this week, as we're watching depth charts shaken up around the league as the injury ninja continues his relentless late season assault. Islanders, Canadiens, Panthers, Stars, Ducks, Avalanche and Wings are all making adjustments accordingly, and we've got the scoop on who's playing with who, and in what role.
On the flipside of that coin, so many Outjuries® this week, too! This episode has our usual look and how players in Edmonton, New York, Columbus, Arizona, Chicago, Florida, Carolina and Calgary are re-entering the lineup, and whether they'll get to reclaim their usual spots or be forced to lie in wait until an opportunity presents itself.
This edition winds down with a list of players who are wound up! We cover a whole slate of lesser-owned players who are hot and ready to contribute to your fantasy team, including a Long Island blue-liner, a feisty Maple Leaf, an under-the-radar young Sabre, a rookie Blue, and an I-didn't-even-know-he-was-a Devil.
And remember: SeatGeek is offering our listeners a $20 rebate off your first ticket purchase! Just head to their website or download the app, go to your profile, and enter the promo code KEEPING before buying your tickets!
Finally, check out our recent appearance on the TSN Analytics Radio Show, where we guested to talk about the teams and players living in the Eastern Conference playoff bubble.
Players discussed on this episode include Evgeni Malkin, Nick Bonino, Carl Hagelin, Justin Schultz, Chris Kunitz, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Jonathan Huberdeau, Alex Barkov, Vincent Trocheck, Reilly Smith, Jussi Jokinen, Jaromir Jagr, Jiri Hudler, Nick Bjugstad, Kris Russell, Alex Goligoski, Andrei Markov, Sven Andrighetto, Tomas Plekanec, Charles Hudon, Mark Barberio, Sami Vatanen, Shea Theodore, Cam Fowler, Mike Green, Sergei Bobrovsky, Joonas Korpisalo, Mike Smith, Louis Domingue, Marian Hossa, Teuvo Teravainen, Rick Nash, Derick Brassard, Eric Staal, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov, Ryan Murphy, Ryan Murray, Ryan Mur___y, Dennis Wideman, TJ Brodie, Gabriel Landeskog, Jarome Iginla, Jonathan Drouin, Nick Leddy, Kyle Okposo, John Tavares, Nikita Soshnikov, Sam Reinhart, Robby Fabbri, Devante Smith-Pelly, Tyler Toffoli, and many more.

No. 97 - Eric's Trip
The trade deadline has come and gone, and that means a bunch of new players in a bunch of new jerseys with a bunch of new linemates, all of which will be covered on this week's brand new edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast!
Elan and Brian begin this week's show by cataloguing the myriad injuries plaguing (fantasy) teams, and which free agent acquisitions could help fill the void for both their real-life clubs and fantasy owners. Top line players hitting the shelf in Edmonton, Ottawa and Dallas highlight the segment, as well as goaltending boo-boos in New York, Ottawa, Dallas, Winnipeg, Columbus and New Jersey.
Meanwhile, some healthy goalies have been knocked out of their crease for just plain ol' playing badly, and so we're also keeping tabs on evolving 'tender situations in Colorado, Detroit and Philadelphia.
The show rolls on with an eye towards the most high profile players that were traded on deadline day, along with a couple under-the-radar choices whose value may have risen thanks to their new digs. We take a look at changes of scenery for a new Avalanche, Coyote, Ranger, Bruin and Duck.
Finally, the show closes out with our notes on who's hot and cold over the last week or two. We tip our hat to a Penguin whose name Elan loves to say in a special way, a trio of Predators playing from the so-called second line, a pair of Lightning who need to shape up before they're shipped off, a sneaky depth blueline add making muffled noise in Vancouver, and a Detroit duo who have both gone MIA at the worst time.
A reminder to our listeners that SeatGeek is offering you a $20 rebate off your first purchase! Just head to their website or download the app, go to your profile, and enter the promo code KEEPING before picking up your tickets.
Players discussed on this episode include Nail Yakupov, Patrick Maroon, Zack Smith, Mika Zibanejad, JG Pageau, Henrik Lundqvist, Antti Raanta, Mike Hoffman, Mark Stone, Semyon Varlamov, Calvin Pickard, Alex Goligoski, John Klingberg, Patrick Sharp, Brett Ritchie, Cory Schneider, Nik Ehlers, Drew Stafford, Petr Mrazek, Jimmy Howard, Brandon Saad, Brendan Gallagher, Mikkel Boedker, Alex Tanguay, Anthony Duclair, Eric Staal, Derek Stepan, Anton Stalberg, Tobias Lindberg, Lee Stempniak, Jamie McGinn, Corey Perry, Rickard Rakell, Patric Hornqvist, Sidney Crosby, Filip Forsberg, Mike Ribeiro, Craig Smith, Pekka Rinne, Ryan Callahan, Alex Killorn, Steven Stamkos, Ben Hutton, Henrik Sedin, Henrik Zetterberg, Dylan Larkin, Jack Eichel, Valeri Nichushkin and more.

Players are being moved left and right, but Elan and Brian are still right here to bring you the goods in a brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.
Trades stole the spotlight all week long, raising all kinds of questions. Where do the newest Panther forwards line up on the depth chart? Which Oiler has the best chance to play with the newly opened spot alongside Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl? Will Andrew Ladd fare any better on the Chicago top line than he did earlier this year on Winnipeg's? Will the Toronto Maple Leafs still exist in April? We're here to help you sort out what each deal means for the teams on both sides.
We also take our usual tour around the league to find the most important hot streaks, cold streaks, injuries and outjuries that you need to know about in the midst of your fantasy playoff push.
Players discussed in this episode include Andrew Ladd, Jiri Hudler, Andrew Shaw, James Reimer, Martin Jones, Justin Schultz, Mark Scheifele, Joel Armia, Marko Dano, Dale Weise, Tomas Fleischmann, Alex Galchenyuk, Lars Eller, Sven Andrighetto, Christian Ehrhoff, Jonathan Bernier, Garrett Sparks, David Jones, Jakub Kindl, Teddy Purcell, Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Aleksander Barkov, Trevor Daley, Matt Martin, Brian Elliott, Anders Nilsson, Jake Allen, Mike Cammalleri, Adam Henrique, Lee Stempniak, Travis Zajac, Brooks Orpik, Matt Niskanen, Dmitri Orlov, Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Noah Hanifin, John-Michael Liles, Michael Neuvirth, Steve Mason, Joni Ortio, Jonas Hiller, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Mark Streit, Jakub Voracek, Zach Bogosian, Brandon Dubinsky, Jason Pominville, Matt Beleskey, David Pastrnak, Ondrej Palat, Ryan Johansen, Mike Ribeiro, Dimitri Kulikov, Niklas Kronwall, Mike Green, Evgeni Malkin, Carl Hagelin, Carey Price, William Nylander and more.

Brace yourselves: it's the second ever live episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! In an action-packed 80 minutes on the air, Elan and Brian bring up and break down all of the latest news from every corner of the National Hockey League. The show kicks off with a look at the suddenly rejuvenated Wild, where we discuss if their recent mini win streak means that they're turning the corner for good, or if it's all just a mirage. We then dig deep into Brian's hoarded stash of old newspapers in an attempt to gain insight into the mind of Ken Hitchcock, and whether we can apply any hints from the past in trying to predict how he'll choose the starters in the St. Louis nets in the coming weeks. Other creases around the league get a similar glimpse, including goaltending 'situations' in Buffalo, Long Island, and Carolina. Then, we turn our attention to some of the hottest-- and coldest-- players in the NHL, and take a look under the hood to see whether or not a change in fortune awaits them in the near future, for better or for worse. And, finally, we take a few questions from our live studio audience, including thoughts on Anaheim's front and back ends, best candidates for a change of scenery, a potential hole to be filled on Calgary's top line, and which NHLer we'd want to see on Survivor.Players discussed on this episode include Jared Staal, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, Jason Pominville, Jake Allen, Brian Elliott, Charlie Coyle, Martin Hanzal, Cam Ward, Eddie Lack, Joakim Nordstrom, Brayden Schenn, Martin Hanzal, Robin Lehner, Thomas Greiss, Jaroslav Halak, Shane Gostisbehere, Kyle Turris, Mike Green, Matthew Dumba, Mikko Koivu, Jared Spurgeon, Ryan Callahan, Marian Hossa, Andrew Shaw, Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Bryan Little, Nikolai Ehlers, Andrew Ladd, Jiri Hudler, David Perron, Cam Fowler, Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane, Ivan Provorov, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Kevin Connauton, Michael Stone, Andre Burakovsky, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Claude Giroux, Mattias Janmark, Patrick Eaves, Ales Hemsky, Sam Gagner, Martin Erat, Marty Turco, Ed Belfour, John Scott, and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. For the first time ever, this most recent episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast was recorded live! This week's show kicked off with a look at a couple of likely fantasy free agent top six wingers who can help your fantasy team down the stretch, so long as they can hold on to the coattails of their respective superstar centremen.Elan and Brian then moved on to locating the hottest streaks around the league, pinpointing players in Minnesota's top six and on Ottawa's blue line, as well as taking note of Philadelphia's left-wing depth, an unleashed Toronto centre, and a Hurricane who is producing despite playing on what must be their third line.We also looked at shifting lineups around the league and the subsequent opportunities that have become available, inlcuding an unlikely goal-scorer in New York, a top line rookie in New Jersey, and de facto depth chart climbing d-man in Calgary. And finally, the show wraps up with a Lightning Round in which we take questions from our live studio audience. We'd love to hear your thoughts about this episode-- would you like to hear live shows more often? No. 89 - Throw Johansen the Air
Last week's episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast was all about catching up on two weeks' worth of action, and this week we're all about getting you ahead of the curve with all of the latest fantasy hockey news, info and analysis. This 89th edition of the show kicks off with a deep dive into what the Johansen-Jones trade means for both the players who swapped teams, and the rest of the guys who will be shuffled and shifted around the Columbus and Nashville rosters as a result. In our Outjuries, we look at a 60 point-plus LA King not named Kopitar or Toffoli, a phenom-in-the-making re-entering the Bruins lineup, a recovered goalie who actually stayed that way long enough to make a start this time around, and a fiery Coyote who's getting more help than usual from his teammates. We also look at the impact of injuries to top line fixtures in New Jersey, Calgary and St Louis, and suggest you quickly grab a goalie who could get some games in on a very good team depending on the severity of his teammate's injury. Our Players of Note this week include a couple goalies about whom you can comfortably stop tweeting us questions, a great spot starter in an Eastern Conference crease, and a couple top line producers out West. Finally, the show closes out with a whack of Snoozers, including a couple perennial favourites who have failed to deliver by the midway point, and an apparent false start from a former 30 goal scorer.Players discussed on this episode include Ryan Johansen, Seth Jones, Alexander Wennberg, Mattias Ekholm, Connor Hellebuyck, Louis Domingue, David Pastrnak, Martin Hanzal, Shane Doan, James Reimer, Jonathan Bernier, Jiri Hudler, Joe Colborne, Mike Cammalleri, James Neal, Mike Ribeiro, Ryan Ellis, Adam Henrique, Brian Elliott, Colton Parayko, Lee Stempniak, Kyle Palmieri, Tobias Rieder, Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Jeff Carter, Tanner Pearson, Robin Lehner, Nail Yakupov, Teddy Purcell, Jay Bouwmeester, Jake Allen, Paul Stastny, Linus Ullmark, Chad Johnson, Patrick Sharp, Alex Goligoski, Andrew Ladd, Jason Pominville, Jeff Skinner, Brandon Dubinsky, Tomas Hertl, Al Montoya, Chris Kunitz, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. Stuffing: both a delicious part of a Thanksgiving meal, and the act of covering as many players and teams as possible on the latest episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast!Elan and Brian talk turkeys and non-turkeys alike on this edition of the show, with attention paid right off the bat to injuries and flu-like symptoms in the Montreal, Winnipeg and Anaheim creases.A glut of injuries and Outjuries take centre stage throughout the show, as we look to find value in player promotions in Buffalo, Montreal, New York, St. Louis, New Jersey and Edmonton. We also have a look at the curious case of an NHL veteran who is suddenly upping his shooting and goal-scoring numbers to levels not seen since the prime of his career, and another longtime producer who may be finding his game again after a disastrous outing in 2014-15.This episode also includes a look at a few snoozers around the league (one at each position!), a couple depth D streaming options, a number of top producers who deserve kudos for their work so far this season, and a very cringeworthy/barely sensible pun.Players discussed on this episode include: Mike Condon, Alex Galchenyuk, Connor Hellebuyck, Evander Kane, Ryan Strome, John Gibson, Jason Spezza, Thomas Vanek, Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, Brandon Pirri, Paul Stastny, David Savard, Colton Parayko, Kevin Shattenkirk, Sam Reinhart, Ryan Johansen, Brandon Saad, Boone Jenner, Jack Johnson, Chris Kreider, JT Miller, Derek Stepan, Justin Schultz, Semyon Varlamov, Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Jori Lehtera, Michael Hutchinson, David Backes, Alex Steen, Nail Yakupov, Tyler Ennis, Patrik Elias, Travis Zajac, Lee Stempniak, David Perron, Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, Cam Fowler, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brian Elliott, Jake Allen, and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. No. 83 - Nilsson Schmilsson
On the 83rd instalment of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, we increase the goalie content to lead off this week's show. 'Tenders are struggling everywhere you look, and Elan and Brian break down the short- and long-term future of starter jobs in Anaheim, Colorado, Arizona, Edmonton and Chicago, including some reserved excitement for a Winnipeg call-up looking to make a strong first impression in his hopefully imminent first NHL start. We then begin our tour around the NHL's hot streaks and line changes by lavishing unexpected praise upon a young Western Conference forward who has taken his share of beatings on the show over the last 13 months-- we tell you what he's doing, why you should be happy about it, and why we might actually be believers this time around. That roundup also includes a member of the family in San Jose, an ever-fluctuation Tampa top-six, minor shuffling in Winnipeg, surprising non-shuffling in Detroit, and obviously Edmonton, where we talk about a new entry into the top six, a recent exit out of it, and then go on to mention Draisaitl's name roughly one hundred and forty two times. The show also covers some likely free agent defencemen who could be good multi-cat and streaming options for the next shot while, including a Ranger, a Capital, a Flyer and kind of a Cane but not really. This episode also features a handful of snoozers peppered throughout-- these are guys who are likely owned in your league, possibly even by you(!), whose worth to their owners needs to be seriously re-evaluated. We tAnd finally, the show caps off with a Lightning Round featuring more players than initially promised, including Washington's scoring leader, a crowded second line in Florida, and a still-got-it scorer in Toronto.Players discussed on this episode include Frederik Andersen, Cory Schneider, Anton Khudobin, Reto Berra, Tanner Pearson, Tyler Toffoli, Vladislav Namestnikov, Nikita Kucherov, Mike Smith, Anders Lindback, Drew Stafford, Nik Ehlers, Teddy Purcell, Nail Yakupov, Leon Draisaitl, Jussi Jokinen, Evgeni Kuznetsov, Brandon Pirri, Shane Gostisbehere, P.A. No. 79 - What the Devil?
While Elan is off doing god knows what in Vegas, Brian takes the reins on this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.Brian isn't going at it alone, though-- Hockey PDOcast's Dimitri Filipovic steps in to guest host as we fly through this week's most pertinent poolie particulars. We look at an unusually high volume in changes to top lines across the NHL, including those in Columbus, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Chicago, Long Island, Dallas and Florida, as well as the newest opportunities available to some hungry up-and-comers that might just be ready to start producing. We also compare the production of the players on two of the hottest lines in the league-- these guys are not only putting up points, but they're doing it while wearing NHL crests long associated with scoring scarcity and boring hockey (though that reputation may be proving harder to shake for one particular locale).Players discussed on this episode include Nick Bjugstad, Brent Seabrook, Adam Henrique, Pascal Dupuis, James Neal, Lee Stempniak, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Dmitri Jaskin, Jori Lehtera, Mattias Janmark, Mike Cammalleri, Erik Karlsson, Colton Parayko, Duncan Keith, Alex Barkov, Jaromir Jagr, Jaden Schwartz, Mike Green, Brendan Smith, Niklas Kronwall, Evander Kane, Matt Moulson, Johan Larsson, Teemu Pulkkinen, Paul Stastny, David Backes, Scotty Upshall, Jonathan Huberdeau, Michael Neuvirth, Steve Mason, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Chris Kunitz, David Perron, Ryan Johansen, Brandon Dubinsky, Radim Vrbata, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ryan Strome, Kyle Okposo, Matthew Nieto, Joel Ward, Viktor Tikhonov, Antti Raanta, Mike Fisher, Mike Ribeiro, James Neal, Trevor Daley, Andrei Markov, Alex Semin, Jeff Skinner, Patrick Sharp, Max Domi, Tobias Rieder, Anthony Duclair, Sergei Bobrovsky, Craig Anderson and more.Be sure to check out Hockey PDOcast on the web, on iTunes, on soundcloud, and on Patreon! And we highly recommend you follow Dimitri on Twitter @DimFilipovic.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. No. 76 - Dano Way
On this episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, Elan and Brian share some notable trends they've noticed in their fantasy drafts, and help you begin to build your watchlist and make your first FA acquisitions of the 2015-16 seasons. After picking our jaws up off the floor, we go on to try to make sense of Dano's AHL assignment, and consider a multitude of unexpected opportunities presenting themselves in Edmonton and elsewhere around the league due to early injuries. We also openly wonder about the updated fantasy value of one of last year's most surprising starters, an under-the-radar pick from last year who was understandably abandoned by most of his owners, a young Canuck on somewhat of an island, and a couple new names making impressions on preseason scoresheets.Players discussed on this episode include Marko Dano, Artemi Panarin, Andrew Shaw, Jordan Eberle, Anton Slepyshev, TJ Brodie, Dougie Hamilton, Zach Bogosian, Cody Franson, Andrew Hammond, Craig Anderson, Matt O'Connor, Kyle Baun, Andreas Athanasiou, Bo Horvat, Jori Lehtera, Patrick Maroon, Leon Draisatl, Anton Lander, Nail Yakupov, Brad Richards, Dennis Wideman, Kris Russell, Justin Abdelkader and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson.
